Surprising breakfast place! Haven't been back to Independence since moving away in '61 (yeah, that 61). Town has changed a little, with this eatery brightening the typical highway-into-town scene immensely. Small towns often run short on clean, friendly, uptown feeling sort of places. This is a serious exception to that norm. Ambiance was fresh and bright, a great eye-opener after a night in a motel! Our waitress was upbeat, perky and an allround funster, certainly the bright spot of our breakfast. If I could give it a negative 0 I would. It was our first time eating there and we will not be going back. They had a bunch of tables open, but they sat us by the kitchen door. So, you had to deal with the coming and going of the help. When our food came the pancakes were halfway cooked, the eggs were cold and the hashbrowns had a very bad taste. I think the next time we go out for breakfast Down Home will be getting our business. Nasty place to eat! read more

The service was great. Tiffany was sensational, very polite, personable and friendly. The food Farmers Skillet was great after adding Chiluba sauce to provide some heat. The coffee was less than desirable, hence the score of 3, otherwise I'd give it a 4. read more

Had a good meal today with good service. Too much to eat but my four legged babies will be happy I couldn't eat it all.

This is my favorite place to get a to go breakfast in the morning! I always order around 7:50 and when I pick it up about 8 it's fresh and delicious! I always get a sun-riser, which could use more potato wedges but is absolutely yummy! read more

This is a chain restaurant so food is good compared to some other of the same. Service is very good but after ordering the cook isn't. So don't think you're going to pop in get a quick meal. read more

It's dirty and they act like COVID doesn't exist. Listen, I'm not crazy about COVID or I wouldn't even go to a restaurant. But it seems you should at least do your best following recommended guidelines when serving the public. There's No social distancing, even though they have 3 distinct seating areas. They sat us right next to a full table, even though there was plenty of room to spread us out. And none of the staff were wearing masks. We should have left, but didn't. Last straw for me. Food was not as ordered. Ordered crispy hash browns but were hardly cooked. Sent them back, they crispy but sitting in a 1/8" deep puddle of grease. Bacon was also not cooked and buskers and gravy were barely warm. read more

Service was awesome, and the only reason I gave it a four star was because of how they responded to me when I called to see if they were open. They acted as if it was a very strange question and could have answered the question better. Being that most of the town was closed due to the frigid cold temperatures breaking everyone's pipes, I would have expected a more positive answer. Erin was our waitress, and i could say with confidence she needs work on her people skills. She threw the menus at us, as well as our napkins and ketchup when we dared to ask for some. My nephews hamburger had a torn up poor excuse of a hamburger bun, and my nieces chicken tenders were slightly cut strips of a whole chicken part. While i understand the condition of the food wasn't her fault, her throwing everything including her attitude at us certainly was. I'd ask to speak to a manager, but judging how she was openly talking about us with the other server tells me there probably isn't one here. Won't be coming back here again. My tip to her? Next time don't treat 3 food industry managers like shit. Treat everyone like they're your best friend and see how much nicer you're treated yourself. Just moved to N E Oklahoma and thought it would be nice to hop over the boarder to grab lunch. There was 1 table of 2 guests when we arrived and the servers were huddled up chatting. All good, we sat ourselves and he came over pretty quickly. Took our drink order and came back in a few for our lunch order. When he brought our food I almost laughed out loud! My Rueben looked like a Barbie sandwich ! Piled high ? Not! You couldn't see the sauerkraut and let me tell you. They should have become the corned beef type stuff was chipped burned hard ... stuff. Husband got a country Benedict and it was definitely a day old biscuit with rock hard preform sausage. Eggs prepared correctly and for sure not homemade gravy. One other couple came in as we we're almost done and we were never checked in on, or drinks refilled. $35 of garbage. Don't go ! read more

This place is nasty! Never have I've been somewhere where the cook touches silverware and then put it back. Never get your food right. When you call they say that the burnt is because you drove it home. Never returning to this place even though they owe me food. read more

Best restaurant in the area. Their soda was not bad I believe they filter their water. This is the first place in this area I've I've been able to drink there soda or water. The big red fountain soda was actually quite tasty. The price for 4 people to eat was $58. Nothing was cooked the way we requested it we had to ask multiple times to receive items we had ordered. I personally ordered scrambled eggs with hash browns and white toast with butter well done on everything. But I received was scrambled eggs that were still liquid( actual eggs scrambled ) hash browns that were still potato not fried almost at all yes they still had the crunch of a potato and white toast with a blob of margarine. I would give this restaurant one star but they did have drinkable liquid which says a lot in this area. Most restaurants in the area heavily chlorinated water. read more

Food was great, service was great. Absolutely nothing wrong with anything, however there was not a military discount available. I'm here on leave and was very disappointed for a town named Independence, to not offer such a discount. 1 star. Six of us went here for lunch over the holidays. The service is great; wonderfully friendly people. They serve breakfast all day, and one of us got breakfast that was oddly served with a package of maple syrup (not that it's bad, just odd that a place known for breakfast can't put syrup in a cup). The chicken salad sandwich was also yummy, but it feel apart easily and had to be eatten with a fork. Overall, the food was okay, nothing that wow-ed us. When you go here, stick to what they do best - home cooking. The potato soup was very good (tons of cream, not diet approved, but it was before new years so it doesn't count, right?). If you need handicap parking, be aware that the two handicap spots in the lot are often full. Other close parking is availible. They have a sign with a special saying seniors eat for free between 2-4pm (take grandpa there for an early dinner). It's very afforadable. read more

We're from out of town renovating a house... So we're also trying to get familiar with the area. Eggberts sounded perfect. The food is good and perfect portions. The price is right. The coffee could be less watery. Cons:The staff is unattentive and aloof. I asked for fruit and it never came and it was in the bill. We asked the server to take it off and she looked liked we asked her the temperature of Jupiter. It was only $1 but wow... Anyway... It's cute inside and again the foods good and until there's a stove in the house I might eat here everyday. read more

Awesome food! The best chicken fried steak in my life. We had catfish too. Both wete hand pound and home made breading. The green beans were the best. They were fresh and cooked with bacon. We will definitely be back next time we come through here! read more

Had never been here before, but our main breakfast place was closed for the holiday. Place had a smell to it as soon as we walked in. Coffee was watered down. My hash browns were undercooked and still cold. Made me sick. Waitress came and checked on us and asked us about the food AFTER she dropped the check. Still paid for my inedible meal and bad coffee. They DO NOT practice social distancing and stacked all patrons on one side of the restaurant for their convenience. Will never go back here. NOT worth your time or money in any capacity. read more

Since this town is limited I kept going back. Really there is only one person that works here that changes the atmosphere. All the other wait staff are very friendly and most the cooks do well. Simple menu, simple food, nice staff. Just a basic style diner but relaxing. read more

Whoever said marijuana is a victimless crime has never had a server that was high. Luckily tonight we got to experience that. The meal started off with some perfume covered marijuana smell, which was manageable. We ordered our food and saw the meal going well. She was even thorough enough to come back shortly later and ask what some of the orders were again. Then after refilling drinks she stood there oblivious to spilling half a pitcher on the floor. (She did clean up the earlier spill onto one of the phones though) Then she was thoughtful enough to spill part of my fries on the floor when she was brining them out. She must have known I was on a diet. She appeared somewhat knowledgeable about the food, and changed some of the orders to other items that must have been better. Then she refilled drinks, and even went the extra mile to fill and empty plate of eggs with Pepsi that was running down the pitcher. The food tasted good though. After finishing my plate she collected it, and the plates must have been very slick. Just like my fries from earlier, a container was also spilled off the plate. We then got our checks, and our corrected checks, and were on our way. Between all the tips she should be able to buy another gram to keep the wonderful service going. read more
