From the hot plate we tried butter chicken, Dal Makhni, samosa, Paneer Tikka, garlic naan, basmati rice, their Indian-style fried rice, grilled onions and peppers, along with the chutneys. The fried rice was especially good and had way more going on than the plain white rice. The stars for me were the Dal Makhni, samosa and butter chicken. The Dal Makhni honestly wasn't the prettiest thing on the bar until it was on my plate, and I probably wouldn't have picked it on my own, but I'm glad she suggested trying a little of everything because it was fantastic. Big flavor and a good kick. The butter chicken had a slightly sweet sauce but was packed with flavor. And that Paneer Tikka caught me completely off guard... buttery, lightly browned with such a good texture that I actually saved my last piece for the final bite. The chutneys were great too, especially with the samosa. The same lady who greeted us kept checking on us throughout the meal, and another lady who appeared to be helping prepare the food came over to see how everything was. We told her exactly what we were thinking... excellent. We also watched people behind us order from the regular menu and those portions were huge. I had a few doubts before we walked in, but between the food, the atmosphere and the service, those disappeared pretty quickly.
