We decided to come here after the SIL was craving a seafood boil. Service was okay and the restaurant was clean. We went during lunch and it was empty. Besides the server giving my SIL's boyfriend the wrong item (they gave shrimp when he ordered fish and he's allergic to shrimp), everything else tasted mediocre. I had the seafood boil combo with snow crab, mussels, blue crab, corn, and potatoes in their Rockin Special Sauce (Garlic, Lemon Butter, and Cajun sauces) in TNT spice level. It wasn't spicy at all and if everything was so SALTY!!!! I couldn't taste anything but salt. I grew up having a fisherman dad and I can tell if the seafood is fresh or not and the seafood here was not fresh. The snow crab's meat was a bit stringy and usually an indication of a fresh snow crab is how hard their shell is. When we tried to crack the shell, it was soft. The blue crabs were decent but I got all males. Usually female crabs are much more flavorful but they were most likely not in season. The mussels were chewy and had weird consistency. The potatoes and corn were probably the best thing in the seafood boil. My husband and SIL also had seafood boils and they both thought theirs were also salty and nothing to rave about. My SIL's boyfriend had the fried catfish platter with hushpuppies and he said it was pretty good. I had a hushpuppy and I agree it was hot, crispy, flavorful and fried to a nice golden brown. Overall, there are better places for a seafood boil. The food is just overall mediocre but the service was pretty good. They do have weekday specials and the prices are decent for the portion size. Our first time at rocking crab . We both ordered the shrimp with no head on it and we were asked if we wanted all the spices and how hot did we want it ? I said mild as I don't like my mouth burning . When the shrimp came out it was enclosed in a plastic bag like a ballon with a piece of corn and potato . I get my bill and find out that whatever I had a question about was just added to my bill and whatever onesy-twosy charge they could hit me with, they did. I've been here a few times, as this is one of my favorite boil in the bag seafood spots. They have really great drinks, their food is pretty good, and the staff is always nice. This particular time we had Summer, she was really nice and patient. There was a mixup in the kitchen as they gave me the wrong order but it was handled very quickly and diligently. We had a lot more food, but I forgot to take pics . But we also got the crawfish, blue crab, and black mussels. What I love about this place is that, even though their "specials menu" has specific specials for specific days, they always let you get whichever special you want. I got the everyday special and my daughter got the Thursday special even though it was the weekend. They play good music which my kids LOVE. I will definitely be back! read more

My friend and I were going somewhere else for dinner but things didn't work out so we decided to come here instead. It's located on blanding in the starbucks plaza. The parking lot was a decent size, but you'll probably have trouble finding parking. When we walked in we were greeted right away and was seated at a table. My friend and I ordered calamari, sweet potato fries, a make your own boil, and a drink. The calamari was really good and the sweet potato fries were great. (Got a little tipsy so I didn't take any photos because I was too busy chowing down the food). For the seafood boil we got the one with shrimp, snow crab legs, blue craps, mussels, and crawfish. Omg it was just simply delicious; packed with flavor, jammed with spices, and finger licking yumminess. Chef's kiss at its finest. As for the drink, I love it! It was a little strong for me, got a little tipsy, but all is well. Hey, I'm still alive to write this review, so I'm good. It was our first time going. Unfortunately we will not be back. My dinner was a 7 out of 10... not too bad but my wife didn't get hers until I was 3/4 done with mine. No one seemed to enjoy their job there. Our bartender Erin...no customer service skills at all. We are both in retail mgt and know what great customer service looks and feels like. I don't think half of the establishments understand that customers make our paycheck nothing else does. read more

Rocking Crab is a seafood restaurant and bar that just opened for business today (10/17/19). It resides in the same building as the former Ginza Sushi. Walking inside, you are immediately greeted by the host. Cool nautica themed interior.They have a Bar to sow your drinking needs, over 5+ TV's with Sports and all kinds of other shows. They serve Baskets, Oysters, Wings, Po'Boy sandwiches and my favorite, the seafood boils. I wasn't really too hungry so I ordered the Oyster Basket (4/5). Generous amount of fries. The only thing I could take away from what I ordered was the batter was harder compared to most battered Oysters I've tried before. Lastly, A+ service kudos to Holly, my waitress. I was craving crab legs so as we all do I grabbed my YELP to see what was in town, reasonably priced with great reviews. I was surprised to see that their are a few crab places around here. The reason I chose rocking crab was because they were the only one to answer the phone to take my to go order! After ordering on the phone they told me it would be about 20 min which was perfect for me because it was about a 15-20 min drive due to traffic. As I walked in it was SOOOOOOOOOO PACKED, which honestly that's never a bad sign to me. I got there about 5-7 min earlier than I intended however to my surprise my food was done & waiting for me! Not only was it packed but they made sure they had everything done in a timely manor. I loved that. The ladies at the front desk, despite being clearly overwhelmed they were so delightful. The food was great! I ordered 1 lb crab legs with Mild Cajuns lemon pepper 1lb shrimp no head medium rocking crab special 1/2 lb of crab legs garlic butter for my son. The food is fairly priced. It's actually cheaper than other seafood places around here. It was so much food, they separated the orders by bag which I appreciated & even threw in sides such as (corn, potatoes) which I didn't order. I LOVED THE GESTURE, my son loves corn and I honestly couldn't believe I forgot to order it but when I saw it in the bag I received a mom of the year award!! LOL SO THANK YOU ROCKING CRAB! The crab literally fell out the shell, I didn't have to fight the crabs. It was cooked well! & my shrimp was shaped like a C not an O! Everything was cooked to perfection. *This is my 1st written review ever* Unfortunately Rachel the manager was very unprofessional, non supportive and not trustworthy. Upon showing her the item I would like to order from their online menu she never perceived to inform me that the in restaurant menu was different and so when I received my order I expected an additional food item that was not present. When I came into the store to get clarification Rachel immediately became defensive in trying to explain that because I did not order off their in restaurant menu that I could only pick one additional item and not two. When I asked why she never explained that to me after I showed her what I want to order from their online menu she just rudely kept referring back to the in restaurant menu and never admitted that she was to blame for the confusion. Upon asking to speak to the manger she rudely said I am the manager and continued to basically not take any accountability of misinforming me and trying to be deceitful. This was all over a $2 item and further she was trying to get me to order an additional $10 worth of food instead of just saying I could buy the item separate or doing the right thing and comping the item. I was very pleased with our first visit to Rocking Crab. We had received a coupon for 10% off our ticket and thought it was well worth our time. We love a good seafood place and like other similar establishments, it was solid. I tried the special which was 1 pound of blue crabs and 1/2 pound of headless shrimp. Most places have Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic butter and a combo of the three BUT this place had cilantro lime! I was intrigued. Very cilantro and very garlicky with a less prominent lime flavor. It was delicious. Medium heat was a lovely slow burn through the whole meal. We didn't stray from the steamed menu except for a kids meal for my son. His fries were crispy and the nuggets were nuggets (I couldn't convince him that he does, in fact, actually like fried shrimp. Oh well). Our server was nice and the space is a very good size. It could replace Crafty Crab as our new seafood haunt. read more

I've visited this location frequently for lunch takeout. This evening we ordered our usual, 2 tilapia baskets with a calamari appetizer. My husband headed out early, as usual, to make sure the food was fresh. He had to wait over 20 minutes to receive the food after arriving. When he got it, the fried calamari was ice cold. The fried fish looked and felt like only a heat lamp had kept it and was barely warm, and the fries were old. When I called to complain I was offered to drive back out (@9:30pm) or 15% off my next order. I asked that they at least replace the calamari, because it clearly sat around for a while, and was completely cold and undesirable. The woman on the phone (Rachel) said she was not going back and forth with me. I need to prove the food is cold. From walk in to eating. We where greatest fast sat right down. The what staff is 5 stars Leslie great service... The food is par not excellent. We had 2 appetizers Steamed Oysters and fried calamari. The steamed Oysters where not cleaned properly witch became a normal for the rest of there sea food. The Calamari was great for sure I liked it. Now we had three boils and one poboy. My boil was a 1/2 shrimp tail off 1/2 scallops witch where not clean sand in them. It tasted like not enough seasoning at all and really not much taste this was the General consensus of the table. The poboy I tried it and it was very plain tasting and the sauce was short bread slightly toasted. I wanted to really like this place. My mom was in town and suggested Red Lobster for my birthday dinner. My first reaction was I haven't been to a Red Lobster since I've moved to Florida, so let's try something new or local. I found this place on Yelp and love a good boil. The food wasn't horrible, but I think for the price and what you get could be better. There are a lot of competitors in the area with better prices and better portions. Heavy traffic and my laziness turned into a good eating experience. The Mai Tai was perfect! It had the right amount of alcohol, not overpowering. I chose crawfish and blue crab for my seafood boil. We received nothing great at all :( When we arrived you had 3 young girls at the register looking out the window and we stood there waiting for all 3 to turn around and just acknowledge us even walking into your establishment. Finally, they turned around and told us just sign in and we will get to you ???? what ???? We signed in and proceeded to the bar you had 2 people behind the bar that we sat down at and again no one acknowledged us. We just started laughing because this kind of bad service should not be tolerated. before arriving, we had high expectations of great service and seafood, we were not able to experience this since it seems that the staff could care less that we were even there. we decided to take our business somewhere else literally across the street because the atmosphere here was that they didn't care. Sooo... i have been patronizing this place for a long time now! Jennifer use to be the manager and i think it was much better that way! Customer service has went down the drain and the food! Oysters were mushy the last three times i went! New cook for sure! Sauce isn't the same! Young lady (light skinned with braids that worked the bar yesterday was nice as always. She started me off but her shift was coming to an end so another girl (white girl with tattoos) was suppose to finish waiting on me but not one time did she ask me was i ok or anything! I wanted to try this place based on recommendations which was mixed. Tonight was the perfect night to try it. The place is first of all clean and organized. I ordered 1/2 blue crab and shrimp with heads with only plain garlic butter and the ubiquitous plain white rice as the side. The shrimp was the largest I have seen compared to other seafood boil eateries in town... however... the blue crab was the smallest I have even seen and the meat was tough. First experience today and it was not a disappointment. Was greeted and seated the moment we walked in. Server was sweet and down to earth. She made an effort to get to know us which was sweet. The establishment was clean and spacious. I enjoyed the music they played too. I only ordered the mussels and scallops, but the rocking crab seasoning was good. It reminded me of Crafty Crab's seasoning. The sides I had were potatoes and corn which were tasty. They did not have a kids meal but later I read the menu and they had chicken nuggets in the sides menu. The French fries were delicious too. Salty, crunchy and fresh. Tried this place out for the first time last week and I was pleasantly surprised. Was pleased to know they had scallops as a part of the boil and they were huge and most importantly... not overcooked! The seasoning choices were good and they have this lime seasoning that is really great and sets the apart from some of the other seafood places that are similar. The service was great and our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. They offer happy hour and drink specials even after happy hour!!! The drink I tried was the marijuana something but it was GREAT!!! My only thing which is not a complaint more of a FYI... the boil could come with a little more sauce in the bag and while I like spicy food but got the medium (I think that's is the mid-level spice) it was a little "spicer" than I expected. Not to the point of being to hot to enjoy, just more than I expected. The place was also clean and the seating/space was adequate for different size groups! Overall great 1st impression.
