Inside the establishment is smaller than I'd expect with a couple of tables tightly knit together. Expect close seating and small tables. They also get busy, but take reservations. Asada fries - Lots of fries, crispy and loaded with toppings. The veggies, pico de gallo and salsa all come together nicely to balance out the cheese and fries. There was so much toppings that the last fries were eaten before the toppings were finished off. Taco de Carnitas - Proteins felt a bit dry and lacked sauce to back up to dryness. Big portion, but for $8.... its a bit steep. would not recommend. Taco de Carne Asada - A good portion for a single taco, but as with the other taco $8 is a bit too much for just one. This time proteins was more juicy and you get a hint for carmalization from the charred meat. Tacos not worth. Would come back for Asada fries but add protein. WIll try the wings (they look stacked) and maybe a torta.

I've been a loyal follower of the Torta Boyz since they first opened up as a food truck and have…read morealways been impressed and satisfied by their food. Their brick and mortar home serves the same classics that they had at the truck and then some. Their menu has expanded to include some appetizers, tacos and cocktails. The prices have gone up but worth the money since it's probably the best mexican food in Ottawa. The fish tacos we got were made fresh and dressed with plenty of fresh, sour, creamy pairings. The Asada Fries are as good as ever. A mountain of guac and dressings and super crispy fries. Got the pastor torta this time around--this was the only thing I thought could use a bit more acidity since the meat was generous but a bit heavy. The tuna tostada is my new favourite. it was fresh, bright, spicy and as always, all the textures. Service is lovely.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Deli serving up loaded sandwiches…read morein Hintonburg. A bit pricey, but tasty. The Long Version: District Deli opened up around March 2025 in the space that was Bismallah Pies (was Charlie's Groceteria before that). My husband and I dropped by to pick up a sandwich to share. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher. District Deli only has cold sandwiches. No hot sandwiches, at least not at the time of the writing of this review. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #118 (2025)

Di Rienzo's is a small deli tucked away in Ottawa's little Italy neighborhood but trust me it's no secret. There's always a line of the well informed, salivating with a grin as they wait (not long mind you, they move fast). The smell here is your first clue that your in for somethings delicious, if you weren't hungry when you arrived you will be once the aroma hits your nostrils. They have a selection of Italian pre-packaged products and various snacks, as well as cold drinks to complete your meal. That said, this joint is all about the sandwiches. They'll make whatever combo of meats, cheese, and toppings you want but if your unsure just pick one of the options on the board. I almost always get the #14. It's all the delicious Italian meats you could want plus havarti, lettuce, and mayo (exchange the regular havarti for the herbed havarti if you'd like). The bread is amazing quality as well. You really can't go wrong here. They have some sandwiches in a case ready to go as well, such as the steak which I hear is amazing. The staff here couldn't be more friendly and accommodating which is no small feat for a place this busy. There are no tables so it's takeout only and It IS cash only however they have an ATM for the unprepared. Oh, lest I forget, this amazing and quality sandwich is less than 10 bucks! This spot is a real gem and if you find yourself nearby you absolutely have to try it out.

I usually get a latte there but decided on a regular one, that was a mistake. Their food did taste good, and their chutney was still delicious but the service was a bit gruff. They weren't rude by any means but I was ignored for 10 mins just waiting to ask for a takeout box. I could tell he was a bit overwhelmed and probably having an off morning, so I didn't take it personally. But when I'm paying $30 for one breakfast bowl and a coffee, I'd expect more than 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half and a few mushrooms in it. The food is delicious but you're definitely overpaying and 50/50 on the coffee lol

All the nearby spots are reserved for the apartment dwellers in the building. Ordered a Huevo Ranchero ($16) - which came with scrambled eggs two corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, sour cream and a side order of fries. The eggs could have used some seasoning even with salsa it needed something extra A Vegan Breakfast Bowl ($14) - a mixture of tofu, spinach, mushrooms and tomato chutney - which somehow tasted to all 4 of us like onion chutney. The vegetables done good, but tofu again had just no flavour. Tofu had a spice rub all over, but it tasted like plain tofu. The Bacun strips were rice paper rolls with some attempted flavours but none came through. And two Vegan Bennies ($16) - a super grainy slice of bread topped with the same tofu, green onions, Bacun and some red pepper strips (NOT Coulis as described in the menu). If some person was having a tofu dish for the first time I think they would describe tofu as no flavour at all. We vegans know that you can do amazing things with Tofu. The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well. When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow. An extra star for giving tons of vegan options

Very polite and accommodating. Prices remain the same. $7-8 a banh mi and still buy 5 get 1 free. Che are mostly $5 each. They are still a cash only business (there's an ATM onsite, although I imagine the fees are high, lol). The banh mi is better though. They put more meat and the meats are less fatty (which is a win for me, but I know some people like fatty meats). Also when I buy many banh mi, I like to get the veggies separately so the sandwiches don't get soggy. I would often split an order of 6 with my parents and the previous owner refused to split the veggies into 2 bags, she would only give us a single bag with 6 sandwiches-worth of veggies, the new owners happily gave us 2 bags with 3 sandwiches-worth of veggies in each bag. Their baguette is still not a true Vietnamese baguette though. It's the same as previously, which is more like a hoagie bun. They also seem to have a larger selection of Che (Vietnamese desserts) now. It's still takeout only. I'm very pleased with the change in ownership and am happy to see things are either the same or better. Street parking only. Review #115 (2026)

It has an unassuming entrance, with a small flight of stairs up. Inside you find a room full of character. With orange, blue and black décor and a slightly worn patina it's really quite welcoming. We knew from reading other reviews that we should expect to wait for good things - and we did. Went with one of the sandwich specials and the anti-pasta plate for 2. We ordered to much. :-\ However, hubby put in a valiant effort and managed to finish everything off. We *loved* the tomato salad, the meat assortment, the pickled vegetables. Everything was good! As other yelpers noted, the owner will stop to chat. He's passionate about food - he does it because he loves it - the best kind of restaurateur. His background is in health supplements so he looks for and buys meats with lower nitrate levels, buys vegetables locally and seasonally and makes what he enjoyes eating. As a result, you never quite know what's on the daily menu. (He told us you can find out on a day to day basis on Facebook and Twitter.) We finished off with coffees - I had his special Caffe Latte with Nutella. Delicious. Worth it to go here just for the coffee. Would I return: yes Would I recommend: yes
