Darlene is Shady. Plain and simple. EFX Artistry consists of one instructor so I don't know why the website says that there are multiples when its just one person running the show. I was attending one class a week for several weeks and was charged on a weekly basis, HOWEVER, there were numerous times in which MULTIPLE WITHDRAWALS were taken out of my checking account which were UNAUTHORIZED. Darlene is a thief and should not be trusted with the money of aspiring makeup artists. My classes consisted of 6 hour long sessions and there were times when classes would be cut short. You would think that you would be charged a prorated rate for classes cut short, right? WRONG. Not only that there were times when the instructor would cancel my class and then create a make-up class for me that would be canceled as well and my account would STILL BE CHARGED for that week!! Her efforts to communicate with me about the reasons for the charges were non-existent and when I confronted her and asked for my money back she told me to read the terms and agreements in her contract that I obviously NEVER SIGNED!!!! Yes, you have a right to cancel classes as an instructor, but you are not allowed to charge me for NOT TEACHING. SHADY SHADY SHADY THIEF THIEF. She mishandled my account and now my bank is getting involved with this issue. There was also an event that I attended with Darlene. It was a Zombie convention during Halloween weekend in which we were to do makeup for the public. I was promised half of the profits for the makeup that I did and still have not received any money for my hard work. It wasn't until I reported Darlene to The Better Business Bureau that she said a check was waiting for me at the school. OH REALLY??? Now you tell me so that you can save your ass in front of Better Business Bureau. I also wanted to mention that withdrawals were not only made by EFX Artistry but also something Classy? Darlene, I wouldn't continue to tell your students about your mom's escort/lingerie business that is taking money out of my account. You should be in JAIL. ASPIRING MAKEUP ARTISTS: TAKE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO A REPUTABLE, ACCREDITED MAKE-UP SCHOOL. Don't make the same mistake I did. read more

My daughter was referred to this school by her so called "instructor" from Marinello. She just started to attend EFX Artistry and I have never seen her so eager to attend a school. She's on her 3rd week and already she's learned all about sanitation, how make up came about ( history I'm guessing), she's even learned how to manipulate light using highlight and shadow to a face to make people look younger or give them smaller noses! I know because she comes straight home wanting practice on me, hahaha. What I think is awesome and unique about this school is that the Instructor (and Owner) Darlene Scheliga takes one or 2 of her students to weekly get togethers with important AWARD WINNING Make up artists! Yesterday she took my daughter over to meet up with THE WESTMORES!! She then took them out to Dinner and another meet and greet with FACE OFF contestants! I HAVE NEVER SEEN MY DAUGHTER COME HOME SO EXCITED like she did last night. A few more things, EFX Artistry has payment options ( basically you don't pay all at once) This place makes it accessable for most people to attend. Your make up kit is also included in the cost. What I loved about this place is, when I met up with Darlene to enroll my daughter, she made no promises about fixing her up with a job. She told me her students need to prove to her they are responsible and in love with the craft. Looks like my kiddo is proving that to her already! ON A SIDE NOTE: I don't like to speak badly of people, but that "instructor" from Marinello has no business writing FAKE NEGATIVE POSTS about this school. My daughter has informed me "instructor" of marinello did attend EFX Artistry, but only to learn the proper terminology in make up, since she started using "new terms" since attending EFX. I am a former student of EFX artistry and I can tell you that not only did I learn a lot but the classes are very afordable. Darlene is a very talented makeup artist. I really enjoyed her classes. She makes sure her classes are small in size so you receive a one on one training. When you graduate and receive your certificate as a makeup artist from EXF artistry, you know what you're doing and you are confident. Darlene will make sure you get it right because she will make you redo your mistake until you do have it right. haha And I wouldn't want it any other way. The last thing you want is to have an instructor tell you it looks good no matter how it looks. If this were the case, you may as well just learn from the web. Darlene is very professional. When you ask her to check your work she will tell you how to make it right and then make you "make" it right. My weakness was eye brows. Darlene would come over and ask me if I wanted her to do one and I would do the other when I got stuck. I did not have a lot of confidence when I first started her class but by the time I graduated, the girls now call me the eye brow expert. Yes! Trust me when I say when she comes to check your work and you get the "great job" you know you did exactly that. Her classes are fun and the teamwork is just awesome. I miss the friends I made in her classes but the memories will last forever. I am so fortunate to have found Darlene. Talent and personality plus. Thank you Darlene. You are beautiful inside and out. BTW- don't mistake Darlene's great personality as a weakness because if you think you are better than everyone else in the class or you have an attitude, she will refund your money and ask you to leave her class. I am a graduate of EFX Artistry. All I can say is THANK YOU! EFX is one of the few who doesn't promise jobs to all it's students.. But they do happen to help out the best, passionate ones (like me) I learned from Darlene. I don't think I've ever met a person as passionate as her about make up and it's art. She goes over everything in detail. she even talks about the different mediums in the film! How many schools do that? It's very sad to see people like XG put down this amazing place. I looked into thier reviews and it's funny how there is another account with the same wording which was deleted by yelp for being a fake review. I Also looked up the other person putting down this school (chrystal) turns out she is an educator at Marinello. Hmmmm that to me smells fishy. If this school wasn't accredited, I wouldn't of gotten my MAC PRO CARD. YES with the EFX certificate I was able to get PRO DISCOUNTS. I've attended many makeup training classes and workshops over the course of many years of being a makeup artist, and must say that EFX is by far, the best one-on-one available today. Darlene is "right there" with you every step of the way to help you be all that you can be in the profession of makeup artistry. The larger schools I've attended had so many students, it was difficult to get the help we sometimes need. EFX classes are limited and very small. Darlene's a very inspiring instructor, and more so inspiring as a MUA. Her talent and the way she guided me through many aspects of makeup were phenomenal. Unlike a lot of MUA's, Darlene really exerts her love and passion for makeup through her teachings. I would say it's an EXCELLENT studio to attend if you're already familiar with makeup, and need those extra bump's and skills & awareness of the makeup industry. I would like to share my experience as a graduate of EFX. First I have to give props to Darlene who is the owner & the best instructor at Efx Artisty. Not only does she teaches the basics of makeup but beyond what some schools might not teach you. I loved every minute at this school and was one of the best experience I had (sad to say I'm no longer a student). When I thought I knew about makeup, Efx Artistry taught me so much more I didn't know. The prices are very affordable as of most schools who charge an arm/leg and don't give you the full experience you need. I recently have just completed the Corrective Beauty course and I can honestly say it was a great experience. I loved how it was such a small class so it was almost like getting taught one on one. I don't understand how on previous reviews they can say such negative comments. Regardless of the comments I still gave the school a shot and I don't regret it one bit. Darlene is such a sweet lady and only wants the best for her students. I'm so glad I attended this school after Cosmetology school because now I can do hair and makeup. I cannot thank Darlene enough. Darlene is the most professional artist I have ever met. She has done my makeup for weddings and has even taken time to do my brows when asked. FRAUD!! My foreign exchange student and I purchased $154 in make up back in December-we have yet to get the make-up nor a refund. The owner has lied to me many times about the whole situation (I have texts to prove it). She is a liar and a thief. Now my exchange student has to file fraud charges on her credit card- embarrassing that there are such rip off artists in our country. My experience with EFX Artistry so far has been awesome. I absolutely LOVE it! Every Monday morning all I can think of "Is it Sunday yet?!" The class is perfect, only 6 students. It makes my learning experience so much easier. I get positive feedback and encouragement. I would definitely recommend the school.
