Attending Salon Success Academy in Upland from 06/24-10/24 for the Estie program has been a transformative experience, and I have to give a huge shout-out to the incredible teaching staff--
Especially, Mrs. Ghada. She truly is the star of the campus. Her depth of knowledge is unmatched, and her ability to explain complex concepts with ease sets her apart from any instructor I've ever encountered. She's dedicated to each student's growth, not just academically but as future professionals, ensuring we are fully prepared for life after graduation. Whether it's skin theory or hands-on techniques, Mrs. Ghada delivers her lessons with clarity, patience, and a level of professionalism that inspires excellence. Beyond her skills as an educator, she also brings a peaceful and calming energy to the classroom--making even the most stressful days feel manageable. It's clear she's invested in every student's success, and her supportive nature has been invaluable throughout my time here.
Mrs. Shianne also stands out with her youthful energy and deep commitment to teaching way beyond the basic state board curriculum. She's always willing to assist with any service a student might need help with. Even though I never had her as an instructor, her professional and fun presence elevated the entire campus atmosphere.
Then there's Mr. Vince--what can I say? He's the life of the academy. His humor and energy kept things light, bridging the gap between students and teachers in such a fun way. He completely erased any feeling of the 'authoritative teacher' vibe you usually expect in an educational setting.
Mrs. Patty? Oh, she's the rule enforcer for sure, but in the best way possible! She's super knowledgeable and always willing to help. You know you're in good hands when she's around, even if she's making sure everything's done by the book.
And Mrs. Hanah is a force of nature. Creative, knowledgeable, and relatable, she juggled two classrooms like a pro--though, let's be real, she was spread way too thin. Despite that, she handled it all with strength and grace.
Finally, Mr. Malcolm. What a gem. He wasn't my instructor, but his heart of gold shone through in every interaction. Plus, it was always fun watching him hunt down his students who extended their break times just a bit too long!
All in all, the staff at Salon Success Academy create an environment that's professional, fun, and educational.
As for the campus itself:
The Salon Success Academy campus is a well-rounded facility that truly serves all ethnic backgrounds. One of the standout aspects of the program is the exposure to a variety of hair and skin types, ensuring that students gain valuable experience working with a diverse clientele. This exposure is essential for our development as professionals, giving us the confidence to handle any situation after graduation. We were also fortunate to have access to real professional-grade products, allowing us to get hands-on experience with the same products we will encounter in the industry. This practical experience was incredibly beneficial in helping us understand the nuances of working with different textures, skin concerns, and product formulations.
However, there's one area where I think improvement is needed. I feel that a system should be implemented into the curriculum to ensure that all students complete a minimum number of each service to be considered eligible for graduation. Unfortunately, there were a few students who avoided performing services--whether by claiming to be sick, incapable, or simply unwilling to work in the spa. While everyone deserves understanding, it raises the question: why go through the effort of pursuing this education if you're not willing to do the work? Implementing a simple minimum service requirement could help resolve this issue, ensuring all graduates are more proficient and ready to succeed in the industry.
Overall this Academy offers an exceptional educational opportunity if you, as a student and/or a client, put the effort in to learn. If you're having doubts, don't! Just do it! read more
