These quesabirria tacos are really really good. I add the green salsa and the guac like salsa for extra flavor. The two taco combo also comes with consome, which is really good as well. It tasted pretty good, the carnitas had really good flavor and the beans tasted like home refried beans from scratch. Burritos here are BOMB!!! The salsa bar is fabulous. All their condiments are so flavorful and freshly made. I recommend coming here if you can because the lunch deals are so great and always made to order. Service is very friendly and quick. Efren's is located off of Orangethorpe, east of Chapman Ave. It is easy to locate and access. Parking is decent, although 2 large catering vans seem to always take up spots right outside of their door. The inside is somewhat on the small side, accommodating about half a dozen tables. Food is ordered at the counter and is brought to your table when it's ready. The menu boards give basic info on their offerings and prices are not displayed, so your cost is a surprise when you're ready to pay They do offer daily specials, but again, prices aren't written out. The only prices displayed are for their Taco Tuesday specials: $1 street tacos with choice of 5 different meats, their Friday seafood taco specials, and (because Christmas is approaching) the tamale pricing. The girls working the counter were pleasant and efficient. I went with the Wednesday daily special of quesadillas, choosing barbacoa for my protein. No sides come with it. I wanted to try their beans & rice so I added a small side of each. The tacos sounded good, too, so I added a shrimp taco as well. The quesadilla was quite large and generously filled with barbacoa. It was nicely seasoned with a nice little kick of spice. The beans and rice were just average, and I found the beans to be too soupy. The shrimp taco was good with 4 plump shrimp that topped a cabbage mix and pico de gallo. The cabbage gave it a nice crunch and the sauce that topped it all was a nice finishing touch. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I ended up bringing the beans and rice and half of the quesadilla home. There is a salsa bar in the dining area where you can choose from 3 different salsas, limes, cilantro, or a mix of cilantro & cebolla. I just learned they have a pasta bowl option. With Mondays being their pasta bowl special. Waited for a Monday to give it a chance and cashier states the special is no longer being honored. Dropped in here randomly and got bomb burritos. $7 something for large burritos. I got barbacoa and my husband got carne asada. He got his with onions/cilantro, cheese and rice. I got mine with refried beans and rice. (I would have gotten cilantro but it's mixed with their raw onion which my stomach doesn't tolerate sadly). So good! I would have posted a photo of our burritos but they smelled so delicious we devoured them quickly. We went at an off time so there wasn't much of a wait. They made them fresh to order. They have mobile pay for contactless payment which is convenient and you can get your receipt emailed to save paper which is super cool. They have a few tables outside for outdoor dining but it's hot today so we took our order to go and they wrapped the burritos in foil lined paper which kept them nice and warm. What a find! I stumbled upon this place with my daughter and son in law after golfing. It happened to be "Taco Tuesday." $1.00 tacos, really?? Authentic, small street tacos covered generously with like 5 types of meat, plus 3 sauces and limes! It's about 20 miles away from me but I've been back 3 times in the last month. The soup was "out of this world" good! I crave it now. Their chips come with a super tasty sauce that is definitely spicy, which makes you want to keep eating it. I will definitely be trying the other menu items. On a side note, I just asked them to cater a small event I'm having since I saw that they cater. The tacos are okay. But the young man working the register tonight was horrible. As I waited for my food I watched him punch the table behind the register, slap the wall everytime returning from the dining room, and spoke disrespectfully to all guests that were there. It really sad to see small businesses trying to survive and having employees who don't care. But let me tell you the women working her butt off restocking and cleaning was amazing and so nice. Tacos in Placentia... pretty competitive restaurant venture... but this place has what it takes to keep your tummy and your wallet happy! Efren's branding is a little deceptive. It comes off as a catering kitchen location, but in reality they also do restaurant service. The menu was a little confusing to navigate at first, but after I talked to the employee it made sense. Charolas are sort of like the party plates! You get your choice of 8 different meats for each taco. I tried the barbacoa, carnitas, chicharron en salsa verde, the cochinita pibil, and the tinge de pollo. I was expecting some small tacos... but when they came to my table, I knew I was gonna go to work with a happy tummy. The rice and beans are average, but you have also have the option of a potato croquette (which sounds super tasty) and a hard boiled egg. I'll be back to try the breakfast options and the other meats I missed. Maybe even the burritos. Keep in mind that this is a place for lunch, their hours arent exactly made for restaurant visits after 6pm read more

Good service and good salsa usually equals good Mexican food! They took my deposit and do not return calls!** I scheduled their service for catering before covid for the date of August 31st. 2020 due to the regulations and concerns the event was cancelled. When I called about my refund she guaranteed me my money back in September.(I gave them a deposit of 1000) When I called back in September and asked for my money back the person I spoke to (Fatima Negrete) said that I was bothering her by asking for my money back and hung up on me. From there I had called the male owner. I asked him. Why would they use money on a job that was not completed? I need the money I worked so hard for and his response was if you want your money back you would have to send me to Small Claims court where they are going to tell me to pay you $20 a month.
