Oh man was it amazing, got the cardamom coffee to go with a piece of Helva for my little and the Chocolate baklava for me and hubs to split! The server was so nice and made sure to inform me the right way to just sip the coffee as it's not like regular drinking coffee- he asked I preferred sweet coffee and I said yes so he added a little sugar and it was just beautiful! My little demolished the Helva and hubs and I enjoyed our chocolate baklava at the end of a very fun but busy day! The shop it's self is small but beautiful as were the other customers enjoying their coffee made room for my little at the counter to look at all the treats in the case! Can't wait to head back and try some of the other yummy treats they have to offer!

We simply had to give it a try. And continue coming back. Type of cuisine: Turkish fare - from simit and borek, to cardamom or pistachio infused Turkish coffee, apricot and apple teas, baklava and lokum. We have always loved the foods, mostly imported directly from Turkey. Ambiance: Sweet and cozy, the space is full of beautiful Turkish art/craft - from lighting to seating, from merchandise to the tasty treats served, we love our bay window benches and small, tiled tables that barely hold everything we order. The brother-owners are always wreathed in smiles and humble, grateful service. The music is soft, but always a surprise - sometimes Turkish, sometimes rock, sometimes jazzy, always fun and unobtrusive. We also love the huge barrel "tables" used as outdoor seating under a covered "patio". What I ordered: I was sad to hear that they no longer make/serve their refreshing and lovely apricot tea, so I chose a sweet cardamom coffee. My sister each chose a turkish coffee and pistachio coffee. A hot chocolate for my husband and two apple teas for the children. We ordered one of each selection of baklava available - pistachio, walnut, chocolate pistachio, halva and another walnut treat. Not to mention peach and blackberry lokum. We also ordered a potato & cheese sandwich; they ran out of the bread so substituted potato borek topped with cheese for our savory snack. What I loved: Always the service; quiet, humble, spot on. The coffee is truly magnificent and fully takes you back to Turkey. The baklava is sweet and soaked in honey, just like the cafes in Istanbul, and the beautiful lighting mesmerizes each of us every time. Why I loved it: It's always a little escape entering the doors of Ashuri, and like a mini vacation in a home away from home. Cost: Average

However, the inside of this restaurant doesn't look like what's pictured in other Yelp photos. There's a lot of empty space, neutral colours and just looks drab. Although it was dinner time we were the only ones there, so it felt a bit awkward. The menu was different that what's offered online so we asked the server a lot of questions and she was friendly. We ordered the lamb shank and kofta (Iraqi kebab). Each dish comes with your choice of rice or salad. We chose rice (the server informed us that rice will come with a bit of salad, but if you choose salad it won't come with any rice). We liked the spices that they used and the meat was so flavourful.

The chicken tika masala puts every other version I've had to shame, rich with visible herbs. The rice is fluffy, the meats are well seasoned. I love the lamb! The owners check on diners and are happy to explain dishes. The walls are adorned with beautiful fabric tapestries and the interior has a cozy feel. Most of the dishes they make are inherently gluten-free and they are thoughtful about labeling.

There were a few other people at 11:30am We asked if they do lunch buffet as I didn't see any self serve food. The staff said they offered in the past but not today.. it might come back in 2 weeks? We ordered hummus, garlic naan, fish masala and special kebabs without lamb which was accommodated per our request. The food even the side veggies were really good, we all liked everything. I like this place for good quality fresh ingredients that I don't feel overstuffed. It's probably because the food is easy to digest? This doesn't happen with other Mediterranean and Indian food. I'd like to come back when they start lunch buffet again.

We kept adding to our orders, and our server accommodated us very promptly. We ordered kebabs that were juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. I read rave reviews about the chia seed lemonade, and it was just as good and refreshing as everyone said. I noticed a sign indicating that they will be relocating to a different spot in Steveston; I'll make sure to post a picture of that sign. I definitely recommend trying this place!

My dish of kebabs were seasoned well and the meat was moist. Every bite was delicious with a mouth full of the rice. The was a side of salad on the plate as well, get your veggies in ;) but the star of the plate is the kebab. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with free samples (hummus, baba ganoush, Turkish delight... yes please) and the kindest hospitality. The owner actually came over and chatted with us, shared where he's from, and even offered us Turkish coffee and Moroccan mint tea, which instantly reminded me of my trip to Morocco. We ordered the lamb gyro, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best I've had in Seattle. Super flavorful, generously portioned, and just hits the spot. Also ended up buying couscous, harissa, fig jam, and olives from the store section, everything felt really authentic. Special shoutout to Hiba for being so warm and welcoming! Honestly, this place feels less like a store and more like a community spot. If you're in Seattle, don't skip this, come for the food, stay for the people.

There's no other terms on them that specify what qualifies for the coupons. I've had no previous issues redeeming the $2 off any entree coupon on items off their menu. However, one day the worker at that moment decided he wanted to be slimy over a tiny $3 difference and said the gyro platter ISN'T an entree. He was pushing to upsell me to use the $5 off $20 coupon and kept saying the $2 off is only for items in the deli case. I probably should have walked away, but I was hungry and already there, so I agreed to get upsold and added baklava ($5+, but $6+ after taxes) to my order to reach $20+. I should have just ordered only the gyro platter because I wasn't saving any money at all at that point. The baklava wasn't that great because it wasn't even fresh. I've also had hard pieces of rice in my meal before. I don't think that's the standard? Basically this place is a hit or miss depending on who's working that day.
