I recently went on a search to find a good hair stylist in the Woodbirdge area. I looked up many shops/salons, read their reviews, etc. One that became the common demoninator of the best results, hospitality and overall experience, was Edwin's Hairstyle. With this, I decided to try it out for myself. Naturally I am skeptical because I have very curly hair, and have a love of layers. Only once in my life haveI gone to get my hair done, and been completely satisfied, and that stylist was a friend's sister, wom I don't see very often. Nonetheless, I was on my way. I made an appointment ahead of time and was started on immediately - after being pleasantly greeted and welcomed. After the wash and blowdry, Edwin gave me some suggestions in response to a general style idea I gave. He worked his magic and I could not have been happier! He kept majority of my length while getting rid of the dead/split ends, layered it to perfection, and topped of the style with a dramatic side bang. I absolutely love it. I absolutely love how we discussed what I was interested in doing and his thoughts - especially keeping in mind how curly my hair is and different styles the choice may look, work best, etc. The icing on the cake was the feeling of comfort and genuine sincerity of me actually being there. I have been to several places where I was invisible in the chair, and give a general idea of what you want and don't talk about or see it before the final spin to the mirror at the end. This is especially important with cutting - because once the scissors go, there is not return. I strongly reccomend Edwin's hairstyle. It is so refreshing to see someone who is passionate about what they do. This is one of the best finds I have ever had. I want to let you know that I've been going to Edwin's Hair Salon for several years now. I truly wouldn't go anywhere else in the area to get my hair cut and colored, or eye brows waxed. Edwin is an artist with cutting hair, and his wife Grace is an artist in the coloring of hair. I always plan to be there for about three hours. Sometimes it will be less time, if I make the appointment for during the week, vice on a Friday, Saturday, or federal holiday. The salon doesn't have a luxuriously decorated interior, but there's free wi-fi (just ask for the code) and lots of magazines to read. I read the two-star review posted in 2012 by a woman who was upset that Edwin cut her hair dry. He always does that to see how it naturally will fall. The reason why there were so few people in the salon, is because Edwin and Grace make appointments and generally keep to their schedule. They rarely have time to accept walk-ins. I recommend Edwin's highly. I can't believe I used to try to save money by going to a well-known chain hair-cutting place, where the hair cuts were inexpensive but the cut or color was different every single time. I have a short hair cut, and as a professional woman, I was often distressed. Now, I regularly pay about $100 at Edwin's before tip (for hair cut, color, and eye brow waxing), and it's totally worth it once a month or so. read more

I recently visited Edwin's Hair Style in Woodbridge, VA and am very happy with the results. I went in with very thick and unruly hair and knew that I wanted a short curly bob. I was nervous because not many stylists have known how to handle my hair in the past. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted very warmly and cordially by Edwin's wife who then shampooed my hair and applied a deep conditioning treatment. She offered me something to drink and ensured that I was comfortable as I waited for Edwin. Afterwards, during the consultation, Edwin took his time to find out what I wanted and made suggestions without pressuring me into a cut or technique that I was not comfortable with. The entire time I felt that my input was welcome and my comfort was valued. He talked me through the steps he was taking and continued to ask for my approval. He never rushed and was meticulous with his technique. He is very professional and personable, and while we had friendly conversation throughout, he always focused on his work. He is very skilled and the results are as I envisioned, which I'm very excited about! Definitely listen to his recommendations - he knows his stuff!! I love my short curly bob which also looks great when I flat-iron! It feels so light which is so hard to achieve on my hair. I would definitely recommend! I will be visiting again. read more

I was a first time customer and from seeing the reviews....i thought it would be good knowing that i am a very picky person about who to go to for my hair. First of all...inside looks crappy..the staff doesnt look knowledgeable...they just work with Edwin who is the manager. Basically they were like students and edwin is the teacher...overlooking them as they go. My hair didnt turn out good...its like they just bleech my hair and thats all...i dont think they sealed the color in. I wanted a blow dry but they cost extra. and usually when i go to other salons....blow dry are included...i think its just more professional that way. NOt only that..if u want a soda or so...u would have to pay out of your pocket...i mean come on...every other salon they ask u if u would like a soda or so and get it for u...i asked one of the stylist ...and i asked for a coke...edwin comes back and go , " would u like me to charge it on your card?" .......i would never go back there again...if u want Professional hair cut go somewhere else..if u just want a so so cut...go there. read more

I had my bridal hair done and some of my bridal party's hair done for my wedding at Edwin's and they did an AMAZING job! Four of us had up-do's done at Edwin's and they looked absolutely fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about the job they did on our up-do's and the care and pride they took into making our hair look so good for my big day. We had so many compliments. My sister was also in my wedding, and she decided to have her up-do done elsewhere. Hers didn't come out as good as ours done at Edwin's and she was a bit jealous, I think! All 5 stars for up-do's at Edwin's! I've also gotten highlights by Edwin and his wife, Grace, and they are both great at highlights too. Their prices are fair and the shop hours are good too. I think he and his wife are both very fair honest stylist who care about the hair they're working on. They will certainly have my business again in the future! read more

Only one word for Edwin- Exceptional. The other reviews don't lie. He takes time to understand what you want and asks questions to ensure we are both in the same page with regards to the cut. He also discussed with me step by step what he was doing and through out the cut would stop to show me how the cut was looking. I have short dense hair and it had been impossible to find someone who could cut short hair so well. He is a master. As soon as I sat and he started to look at my hair and cut, I knew without a doubt I was in safe hands. He is very passionate and knowledgeable. I can sum up this place with one word. Wow. Edwin's cannot be out done. The owners are the SWEETEST people you will ever have the pleasure to meet. Your hair will thank you after visiting them. When I met Edwin my hair was a dull brown color and now thanks to grace (his wife) I am platinum blonde and thanks to him I have an awesome style! This Friday I was having a terrible day so I called last minute knowing a trip there would brighten my day and I was right! They stayed WAY past closing time to fit me in their schedule! I haven't had my hair cut in almost 3 years. I always procrastinate and hesitate and make up every excuse as to why I CANT get my hair cut. Today was the day! I called Edwin's Hairstyle and set an appointment for the next day. I'm so glad I did! Edwin takes the time to consult, look at pictures, and talk about what you want along with what he feels would look good on you. He put me at ease with my fears by being totally understanding and so ridiculously sweet. I can honestly say that I've never been more happy with a hair cut than I am today. He did amazing! The place initially does not look like much on the outside but once you walk in it is impressive. The salon is very spacious and clean and the staff incredibe! Edwin and his wife as so nice and helpful. Not only did I get a great haircut and style but they gave me recommendations that were great. They took their time and didn't make me feel like they were in a hurry to get me out the door. It was a great experience. I have very long hair and don't trust many people with it but I will be going back to Edwin's next time. Ok I went to Edwin and told him I just needed to get my hair under control. I have combination hair which is hard to do and I am not a hair person so I need a cut I can do after I walk out. He listened to me, ask me lots of questions, made suggestions, which I felt I could trust, and WOW what a cut. Best hair cut I have ever had. He is pricey for Woodbridge. So, I went to another place and was disappointed. If his prices were affordable I would go each time, but he may be an every other instead. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST HAIR CUT AND COLOR I'VE EVER HAD!!! Edwin and his wife Grace are amazing stylist's. The care and time they took with me was over the top. I'm here visiting for the summer from Panama City Florida and was so scared to go get my hair done but I found Edwin and now I wish I could take him and his wife back to Florida with me. I was looking for a new stylist when I decided to Google hair salons around the area. I was impressed at the reviews left for Edwin's Hair Salon so my mom and I decided to visit the salon today. He ended up transforming my mom's hair. Edwin and Grace (his wife) were extremely nice, caring, professional and extremely customer service friendly. Edwin was able to add shape into my hair and add volume. I was in need of a makeover and Edwin and his wife did just that! We are both extremely happy of our desired looks. Really great service and even greater haircut! I'm not very good at describing what I'm looking for but Edwin was able to take the idea and make some suggestions of his own to help me find what I was looking for. He was incredibly attentive to detail, making sure every piece of hair was just right, it was easy to tell this is something he really enjoys doing and it shows in how he cuts hair. Edwin and his wife were amazing. They really took the time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and answered all of my questions. I don't understand these negative reviews. Edwin listens to what you want and delivers big time!! He will make suggestions, but is very conscientious to give you what you want and ultimately you will get great haircut. Grace does an awesome job coloring and styling my hair. I would never complain about the price -- it is fair -- not more than any place else that is decent, and like they say, "You get what you pay for!!" I think Edwin and Grace are terrific!!! read more

Now that I've discovered this hair salon, I'm never going anywhere else. Grace works magic with highlights and eyebrows. I now get regular compliments from strangers on my hair color. I also love that she makes it look so natural, like I was born looking this good! I just had my hair colored by Grace and my haircut by Edwin and all I can say is... AMAZING. Such wonderful people and they take the time to know exactly what you want, what they think is best and take their time to make sure everything comes out perfect.
