I called and basically asked how the hell they got my cell phone number and of course they gave me some scripted bullshit about using skip tracing techniques, etc. I immediately reported them to the California Attorney General but I doubt that it will do any good. I encourage everyone who is called by these bottom feeders to tell them to remove your name and number from their files and tell them absolutely nothing. This company is a subsidiary of SallieMae and the idea that they call up anyone who MIGHT BE associated with their debtor is reprehensible and morally opprobrious.

Today is 4/26 and I've called almost every day since since 4/6 with a simple yes or no question and have yet to receive any sort of response. There are several administrative staff available to take messages and even a 3rd party answering service for when they are not, so I can't imagine my messages aren't getting through. Each time I call, I'm promised a prompt call back, or that an email will be sent with "high importance," or that my call will be elevated "to the highest level possible," or something like that, usually with some form of empty apology. Now, I certainly understand how busy this time of year is for tax professionals in the best of times and I'm sure the quarantine and the CARES Act has only served to increase their workload, but twenty days is quite a long period of time for a yes/no question. I'd also like to add the I've worked in sales in one form or another for almost 14 years and rarely speak negatively about a business for any reason. I understand what it's like to be on the other side and always strive to offer the benefit the doubt; with that said, if I ever let an inquiry go unanswered for twenty days I can't imagine a situation where I wouldn't be fired. He found lots of money that the other guy and his temp didn't, answered my questions courteously, and correctly did my return for a reasonable price.
