Foresight Business Solutions owner Ryan Correia has done an excellent on job tax returns and trust…read morework since 2010. In auditing another accountant's returns, Ryan found thousands of dollars of refunds missed by the other accountant. The 9 tax returns Ryan prepares for me each year include personal returns, trust returns (real estate trusts), and out of state returns. A very complex tax situation which Ryan and his staff have handled very well. One of Ryan's biggest strengths is his flexibility in making my part of the tax return effort as easy as possible. For example, he purchased the version of Quicken which I use so that I can now just give him my Quicken file each year and he can pick out the expenses which must go on the returns. I do not therefore have to go to the time and effort of transferring data from my Quicken files to Ryan (or to his Tax Organizer). Ryan also acts as an agent to help me and my sister with work relating to out of state real estate in several trusts. Ryan has an excellent professional rapport with the real estate property managers, insurance agents, tax authorities, etc, and he regularly reports back to me on his efforts, which are very productive in general. Much of the work Ryan does for me is through his secure portal, and also via email when I request that. This makes it very convenient for me. I can, however, visit Ryan's office whenever I like. Ryan has a very easygoing personality, a totally professional manner, and excellent communication skills, making it very easy to work with him. I highly recommend Ryan Correia and his firm for tax and other financial-related work.

I took my taxes here to have them independently checked after I did them on my own and found out…read morethat I owed the government a decent amount of money. They met with me and walked through my situation. After working with them for several weeks they determined that what I owed was accurate. I paid them but determined that there was no need to go to a CPA for my tax situation, as I verified doing the taxes myself was accurate and not overly difficult. I imagine as taxes get more complicated that needing a CPA may be necessary. There was some period of time where my questions were going unanswered but they eventually got resolved, although slower than I had hoped for. A good local business!

Before Ahura, my husband and I were filing taxes using Turbo Tax. These past few years with Turbo…read moreTax has left us with less and less of a refund, which did not feel correct to us. In fact, we started Turbo Tax again this year and it acted like we owed state taxes which we knew was not correct. So we chose NOT to submit through them, and instead chose to file with an actual accountant. We chose Ahura Group. Shirin was so wonderful, even in the middle of this pandemic where everything has basically shut down. She was able to help file our tax return quickly and easily without any delays. We spoke over the phone. Submitting our documents online, using their patient portal, was incredibly easy. At one point there was an issue with my pin number not working (the pin number that the irs issues to file electronically) due to a fault on MY part (I gave her the wrong number by mistake), but she was so polite about it, just asking me to kindly double check the number. I managed to do just that and provided her with the right one. She was so nice and thankful when I did. I greatly appreciated her kindness. I should add that with Ahura Group I actually got a MUCH larger refund than Turbo Tax was willing to provide. And with them I even got a refund with the state taxes, instead of owing like Turbo Tax said. My husband and I are very happy with Shirin at Ahura Group and plan to continue using her to file our taxes from now on! Trust me, it is worth it to have an actual accountant! The fee is higher than online softwares, but even with the fee you will get more. Trust me. Go with Ahura Group! You will not be disappointed! :)

David Caplan was, to us, an undiscovered gem. Our family was with another accountant for 40 years…read morebut switched to David after her death. His work is a revelation--moderately complicated taxes can be done in an afternoon, at your home, and affordably. He's knowledgeable and personable. A family member selling her home didn't believe that the common purchasing tool the buyers requested (a "seller's assist") was not some kind of scam and refused to accept their offer until she had talked to David. He explained how common the assist is and how it does not affect one's taxes, and she relaxed enough to go ahead with the sale. (Of course, she then told her own real estate agents she didn't trust them, but that she trusted David implicitly. And he does seem worthy of that trust!) We haven't seen his hilarious tax-time letters (referenced by another yelper), but we hope to find one in the mailbox one day. Maybe we need to be just a little delinquent so he'll feel obligated to send us one.

Luckily I have David Caplan to take care of business for me. David is extremely knowledgeable about all things fiscal (he's a deductions wizard) and he's honest and reliable. But perhaps my favorite thing about him are the hilarious tax-time letters he sends out - this dude has a wicked sense of humor! His fees are very reasonable and he'll hold your hand if you need him to, which is perfect for a financial idiot like myself. Having him as my accountant for the past 5 years (many of them as a freelancer) almost makes me look forward to April 15. Almost.
