This can be a gamble, but I also wanted to be realistic since I was asking for help in a very short time frame. The arrangement arrived as hoped, and I think it is beautiful! There is an obvious designer's good eye in the finished product, and I was pleased with my purchase. The other part of this order I appreciated was the communication. I ordered easily online, got an acknowledgement for the order, and then also a notice (can't remember if it was email or text) letting me know when the delivery was made. Wow! I like all the decorations and arrangements, I like that they can prepare an arrangement rather quickly, and the staff are polite. As if that's not enough, you can tell that some true TLC is being put towards taking care of the flowers well - the bouquet they put together for me was nothing short of impressive. It's the good kind of Florist - give them a price or a price range, and they will meet it, while making it look nice. Word to the wise though, you're not going to get a real beautiful bouquet for probably under $40. As a former employee of Edwards, I can say from experience that the staff goes above and beyond expectations for clients. It's clear to see that the quality of the flowers is a top priority. This reflects the price, which is why most arrangements start at $50. But you can't get the kind of flowers at a grocery store like you can get at Edwards Florist. Even something simple, like a wrist corsage or boutonniere, has such care put into it as well. Elaine (an exquisite floral designer) did the flowers for my sister's wedding in 2012 and my wedding in 2014. (See photos) The delivery and setup were done quickly and carefully. The only thing I wish they noticed was that the men's boutonnieres were all put on the wrong side of the lapel! Oops.... I didn't realize it until the photos came back from the photographer. I think closing at 5pm is very inconvenient for customers, considering many people work different hours & such. I also factor in that this is a "downtown" shop which is by the train station, restaurants, bars, & ice cream shops - meaning that all of these places would allow those inclined to purchase some flowers after getting off the train, perhaps before going to eat a nice dinner, etc., etc. I also think the prices are high compared to other florists that offer better quality arrangements. This review is for their online/web-based ordering. I ordered some flowers for my mother-in-law as a surprise 'thank you' on a Thursday and was convinced to use a local florist by my wife. I requested delivery for any time the next day (Friday). The flowers never arrived - I called my mother-in-law Friday evening to check - and hence ruined the surprise. I called Edwards Florist office - no-one answered. I called back and left a detailed message quoting the order number, asking for an explanation as to why the flowers were not delivered, and for a call back. The flowers were eventually delivered the next day around midday, but I never heard back from Edwards Florist. Very poor customer service - I would have expected at the very least a phone call apology when spending ~ $100 on flowers. IMHO one of the key things about ordering flowers is that they are delivered on the day you state in the order - can you imagine if birthday, wedding or Valentines Day flowers were delivered the next day? Especially as I made sure my mother-in-law was going to be home on the delivery date I specified as the Chicago winter is not so friendly to fresh flowers being left outside. Sorry - completely unacceptable.... As for the flowers - they were nice, hence 2 stars instead of 1 star. Will not be using again. Period. read more

Decided to give Edwards a try after finding them on Yelp and saw the great reviews. We needed a corsage for our 18-year old son taking a date to a formal event. Of course you can't count on an 18-year old to think of the corsage...So at the last minute, desperate to find a florist to make one 'NOW' I was just relieved that Edwards could do it for us! My usual florist could not do the job for us on such short notice. I walked in w/ my 6-year old son and we were greeted warmly by two very sweet women. They were friendly to me and very kind to my son and made him feel welcome. The corsage is beautiful too! They didn't have flowers in the date's favorite color (purple) but did make it w/ white sweetheart roses and beautiful, delicate purple accent flowers. It's accented with a shimmery purple ribbon and they finished it by wrapping the box in another beautiful deep purple ribbon. Just perfect and exceeded my expectations. Held off on the 5th star until I try them next time on a larger arrangement. But will be back... Thanks Yelpers for keeping the site real! read more

Had expected some improvement from a review in 2011 from Rob, but apparently, things haven't changed much or perhaps if you are not "local", this florist doesn't seem to care when they deliver the flowers. I ordered the flowers online from out of state, and specified the date the flowers were to be delivered. It was very clear In my order confirmation the delivery date. I was surprised when I received a text from my friend the day before her birthday with a picture of the flowers for her birthday. They delivered them 1 day before her birthday. The flowers were nice enough worthy of 3 stars but the service/attention to detail is poor. Save yourself from the frustration of having flowers delivered on the wrong day and use a highly reputable florist, not this place. read more

Flowers were ordered and the florist was given an address and telephone number, altho the phone number that was provided was a cell phone and not answered until after the final delivery of the day. When I returned the call the following day and left 2 messages with directions about what to do with the delivery,there was no response from Edwards, altho I called both the business and cell phone number that was provided. Two days later, I then personally called their place of business about pick-up. This order was for a Christmas arrangement, which also could be used for New Years. Staff are friendly. It is always a pleasure to walk in and find the cutest gifts (even if they're not floral! Edwards has some really great tchotchkes!). I called today asking for Hyacinths. The lady that picked up didn't know if they even had some. She put me in hold to go ask the designer. When she got back she said she may have a few left and asked me what I wanted to do with them. I explained I wasn't sure and how much they cost. She said since I wasn't sure she would rather use them up for display and they weren't on sale anymore and hung up. I guess I shouldn't expect any less from NorthShore customer service. Snotty and no help. I tried Costco. I just went through the general office number and asked. The lady checked their computers and it said she had some but said she wanted to double check the floor and offered to call me back. She did call me back and she said they had them on the floor.
