I don't understand all the raving reviews. I found him disrespectful and dismissive. He trivialized my symptoms. He didn't even try to understand what my symptoms were, let alone get to the root cause of my symptoms. He just gave me referral to another doctor. Dr. Barton Is an exceptional dr and human being. I've gone to him twice for testing and both times I've felt that all his attention was on me. I felt so comfortable talking to him about my symptoms and I absolutely love how he reassured me that was nothing alarming in my nerve test (vs. making me wait a week or two like any other Dr). I was nervous about seeing Dr. Barton at first, because my diagnosis is not always recognized by "regular" doctors. But Dr. Barton is not a regular doctor! He was not disdainful, unlike several other doctors I've seen who say my condition "does not exist". Instead, he listened, and was caring and kind. Even when his office was very busy, he took the time to respond to every one of my long list of symptoms. He's also smart about ruling out all the possibilities. I was reassured when the two tests he ordered came back "normal", because I had a lot of fear about nerve damage. He discovered that I have sleep apnea, which he said could account for several of my symptoms. I'm still getting used to that darn CPAP machine, so we'll see what happens with that. But Dr. Barton is a great doctor and I'm very glad that he has my back, nerves, and brain! read more

I was relieved almost to tears to find a neurologist who not only has extensive knowledge of migraines but also the decades of medication I've taken as well as current treatments. Dr Barton helped me through a major twitching scare in 2018, and recently is helping me through a major concussion recovery. He takes his time to answer all your questions and he is very knowledgeable. After suffering a TBI (traumatic brain injury), earlier this year that was caused by a simple concussion, I ended up seeing a few Neurologists from Ventura to Los Angeles County. It's difficult enough dealing with a life changing injury, let alone a doctor that may be misleading in his prognosis/diagnosis, pessimistic about your future and only spend 30 seconds with you as he stands waiting with his Rx pad in hand. I have experienced this unfortunately, with other* doctors. Having an experienced, well reputable, compassionate doctor/specialist that provides strong medical support, makes all the difference in your recovery and future health. It wasn't until I walked into Dr. Barton's office that everything started making sense. He gave me the time to explain in detail what all the brain cells are doing and why I have the symptoms I do. For 6 months I had no idea what was truly going on and was being misled and left very confused. Dr. Barton was very thorough and very educating, optimistic, supportive, professional and most of all, he knows his brain stuff!! Dr. Barton will make sure you understand what all your test results mean and answer all your questions. And if he disagrees with the quality and accuracy of any past results not* preformed by himself, he will confidently re do them himself, so that you both know exactly what is going on and he can better serve you. This was my experience and I wish I'd seen him sooner. I would recommend all my friends and family to Dr Barton and couldn't say that about other Neurologists I have seen. After all my TBI related hospitalizations I've experienced this year and knowing what I now know about Neurologists, and having researched quite a few, I wouldn't see anyone else. I went to see Doctors Burton earlier this year suffering from essential tremors that were an annoyance and my wife was also concern it could be something more serious it turned out not to be serious but a natural occurrence in some people with aging. What I liked about the Doctor is that he also believes in alternate treatment not just choosing medication to treat a symptom. After Dr Imbus closed his practice, Dr. Barton was the doctor that took over. Since day one, Dr. Barton has never taken time with my son, to review his records get to know him we're just a number after four years, he stops seeing me because he said we had too many missed appointments, canceled appointments, etc. which Ihim told him he must have us confused with another patient but he said no. I made my sons annual and he canceled the appointment without calling us to explain. Thankfully, my son seizure disorder but has been controlled with medication, no thanks to him. He never took the time to get to know my sons case I always felt rushed and was never in a room. It was always in his office asked us a couple questions hit him on the knee and that was it. He always asked us to get an EGG never explain why. Dr. Barton has no apathy. My son has been seen by a neurologist since the day he was born Dr. Charles Imbus was the doctor that saw him until he was 27 years old. I do not recommend Dr. Barton he does not care about patients, he only cares about his pocketbook. I do not recommend him at all. There are better Neurologist out there, he is no Dr Charles Imbus that's for sure!! read more

It is very possible that Dr. Edward Barton will not remind you of any doctor you have ever met or seen before. This is the good news. And this is because he will take time with you to get to know you and really find out the nature of your problem. He's not punching a time clock and although he will describe in detail every option you have in terms of the cost impact of the various treatment options that exist, he himself is not concerned about these costs and will not use this as an excuse to rush you out the door so he can see his next patient. When you are with Dr, Barton he is focused on you. And what a refreshing change that is. I've spent, now 30 years in health care in the Southern California marketplace so I know how unusual this type of approach can be. But, if he was simply focused and took his time, we wouldn't much care, would we? That is not all you get from Dr. Barton. as one reviewer has noted, He is double certified, which may not mean a lot to some but I can assure you, when it comes to nerve assessment, it is hugely important. Dr. Barton has made an impact on my and my husband's life, now in two areas that have been, well, life changing. This is something I can only say about one other doctor I know and he was a referral from Dr. Barton. So, not only is he himself a rare gem of a physician, but he only refers you to the very best in this community. On top of this he is funny and warm and has always been open to any and all types of treatment approaches. So if you think that all doctors do is push prescriptions on you and shove you out the door, I can assure you Dr. Barton's approach is far from this. He genuinely wants you to get well and does what it takes to make sure that happens. When I was struck down by chronic migraines at one point in my life he suggested a special type of head massage and my initial thought was "Really...?" but when you are in that much pain and have tried every option you become open. After one treatment my pain was completely resolved. I was amazed. He means the world to our family. I'm just glad I found him now in Pasadena. Prepare to wait a long wait. Reception sucks. was not at all satisfied with the clerical staff. Dr. Barton seems to be a pretty knowlegeable doctor and spoke in a way that made you feel comfortable. He's pretty young for a neuologist. He ordered that i have an EAG test done to help diagnos my migrains. The EAG Tech was good. bu t inever heard back form the doctor or any clerical to give me the results. Im not going back there. I didnt like the overall experiance. read more

I thought Dr. Barton was a tech when I first saw him (he came to the lobby to greet vs a tech). I thought this was a bit strange because every doctor I have ever visited (and this is many), has techs' type the notes so they can take time to address your main issues. I was not bowled over with my visit. I also would say he did not know much about one of my main concerns which constituted my visit. Additionally, like my recently dumped primary care doctor, a lot of typing does not win points with me. He gave me an ent referral that did not do anything with facial issues. Why offer this if you have no idea of this doctors skills. The rating is for his staff which is super nice and helpful. All in all, I have experienced way worse but also much better. read more

Under no circumstances when it comes to your brain and CNS should you go to this office. Right now as you are reading this you are in a panic. Your head hurts, or your off balance, or maybe numb? You are looking for a fast turn around on what is happening to you. DO NOT LOOK TO DR. BARTON OR THIS OFFICE. You have been warned. I came in with multiple concerning neurological symptoms. After doing a very weak history of my symptoms, Barton ordered a series of tests (MRI, EEG, ENG, etc.). What is unacceptable is the way this office and Dr. Barton respond when your tests come back.....THEY DON'T!!!! After repeated requests to talk over the phone with Barton (I wanted ONE conversation),I was able to go by the office (without even talking to Dr. Barton) and pick up all of my test results. When I got home, I saw there were MULTIPLE abnormalities in my tests. I once again made an attempt to get Dr. Barton to call me to discuss. I was told...and I quote, "If Dr. Barton needs to talk to you, he will call you." I am absolutely dumbfounded at what I heard. I still can't believe it. I cannot get through to the doctor unless he determines I am someone who he wants to talk to. Keep in mind...I have never talked to him other than my initial appointment. I am asking for ONE CONVERSATION REGARDING ABNORMAL TEST RESULTS. Can't get it. I want my physician who I hired to look into my condition to respond when I have a question. Don't you? This guy is a fool. His board status should be challenged. Stay away. read more

He's awesome!! One of the best doctors I've been to!! Dr. Barton is super friendly and social! I have been to so many doctors who are socially awkward and don't explain well or answer my questions; I end up walking out of those appointments confused and disappointed. But with Dr. Barton, I felt like I was talking to a friend!! He is very comfortable talking to people and he's funny too! He gave me a ton of information about my headaches and migraines and spent a lot of time explaining everything really well. I walked out of my appointment feeling much better knowing that there is actually a solution to my headaches/migraines. He told me about several options other than pain medicine. I loved that when I said "I don't want to take pain medicine" he said "I don't want you to either". At first, I was hesitant to go to a neurologist because I thought they would only want to give me harsh pain medicine. It's great to find a doctor who wants to figure out how to prevent your pain and use pain medicine only if necessary. Many doctors probably would have just prescribed me pain medicine and ended the appointment with that. I have been to many doctors and am EXTREMELY impressed with Dr. Barton.
