This fishing pier is formally known as the White Street Pier. But not only will you see people fishing but also people jogging, skateboarding, biking, etc. Once in a while, the pier is even used for a fun disco rollerskating event. It's popular among tourists and locals alike, especially during the sunrise. Actually, it's always pretty crowded. I come here almost every day for a quick stroll or to watch kitesurfers. 4 stars.

Free Florida fun. Also known as the bridge to nowhere or the unfinished bridge to Cuba or the old White Street Pier, this purpose built prodigious fishing Pier is often confused for something else but it's not. Well spent surplus built this pier in the early 60s and was renamed a few years ago to to honor the man whose name it now bears. It's still a great place to fish or take in the sunrise. It's often fairly crowded. Easy to see people Love enjoying it and there's often events held here. I've heard of fishing tournaments. Was even a disco roller skating thing going on here last weekend! I wouldn't miss it, even if you just walked it once to flesh out your trip here.

A nice little relaxing pier to take a stroll on. It's near the Key West Garden Club so you can hit both for a unbelievable peaceful time. It has great views of the ocean too and is nice to visit after a night on Duval. It also has an Aids Memorial with some quotes ingrained on a wall that will give you some contemplation. There aren't any stores or cafes really near by, but if you walk over to Higgs Beach Pier there's a simple restaurant and a playground for kids. Definitely worth adding to your Key West itinerary!

I put my foot down on this one... WHITE STREET PIER ! I know it's been years since the City of Key West officially changed the name of the pier to Edward B Knight Pier.... and I'm all supportive of acknowledging someone that did great things for the island but sometimes a simple name, that has been around for a very long time (White Street Pier) is best. Perhaps just dedicate a section the bridge; like the City did with the entrance to the pier (Key West AIDS Memorial). The pier is not like typical fishing piers you find along both, Florida's east and west, coasts. This one is constructed with a foot traffic bridge over water to the first major section (open area) that is not raised above the water. The bridge section is about 200 feet long. The open area is more than 500 feet long and about 60 feet and it feels like it was once upon a time a road to nowhere, as it appears to be an asphalt roadway with concrete curbing along the outside edges and a concrete sidewalk (all similar to the profile of a standard roadway); maybe its whey some locals joke about it being an unfinished road to Cuba. Outside the perimeter of this section of pier is jetty wall rock that is home to many crabs, snails, juvenile fish and some larger fish (but not many), though we have seen stingrays and parrotfish here often too. Walking further to the south, you pass over another raised over water section of bridge; crossing only about 40 feet of water this time... then you come out to the other open area but this one is area that is perfect for gatherings; its a large square area about 160 feet long by 200 feet wide. There is a very large compass painted on in the center of the open area. Over the years I hoped to see more organized/sponsored gatherings on the end of the pier but surprisingly I haven't seen much. What you will always find are locals coming for a daily walk with their dogs (they are welcome here) and there is always a few people fishing at the first (northern) bridge section. And of course, there are those tourist walking to the end... And why not come, it's one of the best spots if you're up early enough to catch one amazing sunrise !

This place is a hidden gem! If you want to step away from the touristy side of Key West and want to enjoy a relaxing walk or see the sunset this place is worth the visit!

Whether you are on a stroll, getting in your morning run, enjoying a cup of coffee at day break or perhaps even a sunrise yoga or tai chi class, this is a beautiful pier to take in the sea air. Sunsets are equally as awesome. Bring your camera for photos. Dogs, bikes and fishing are also allowed. At the base of the pier is the Aids Memorial, to the right is the African Cemetery, and directly next to that is the West Martello Museum. This is also the beginning of Higgs Beach which continues to the West up to the Casa Marina Hotel.

A massive pier to just take in a great view of the ocean. It's not much except for a great site and very sturdily made. It got the nickname "The Unfinished Road to Cuba" and you can tell because it looks like you could safely drive a car on it! During sunrise or sunset the views here are probably beautiful!

It was a nice relaxing walk out on the Pier. It was a pretty day so the water was clear. Not many people were out on the pier. If in the area it is worth seeing. Free parking is close by.

The day we went, the waves were pretty choppy. I got in the water and panicked. Kelly, our guide, expertly made sure I got back to the boat. Spencer, our dive master, helped me up and reassured me the whole time. I got to spend the next couple hours hanging out with Spencer and robin (the captain), which honestly, was a great time. What I loved is how committed they were to safety, and also making me feel valid in my decision to abort the dives. My partner successfully completed two dives and had a fantastic experience with Kelly guiding him. If/when we're back in key west again for diving, we will definitely book with Lost Reef again!!

Lost Reef Adventures...the worst dive shop that I have encountered in 30 years of scuba diving…read more The negatives: The owner, Nick, was extremely unfriendly to the point of being hostile. He had a serious attitude problem and had no idea what the concept of "customer service" meant. He just stares at you, waiting for you to say something...it's really creepy. After telling us to show up at 7:00 for the morning dives, no one from the shop bothered to show up until 7:45. The crew was only okay. The dive master acted like this was an annoyance to be taking us out on a dive...like he just wanted to get this over and done with. He just swam around for 45 minutes until it was time to re-board. The boat pilot told us, "We're not leaving the dock until you get your gear ready." There was one guy (with a mullet and ear rings) that was pretty cool and very helpful. The equipment was fair, but had some issues. The first tank that I hooked up to only had 1200 psi, turns out that 1/4 of the tanks onboard had previously been used and not removed or refilled. The fact that they all had the rubber covers on the valve (indicating a fresh tank) made it very confusing as to which tank to use. My dive buddy's regulator was inoperable. The dives were fair at best. I guess Key West really isn't that great for sea life when compared to the USVI or Belize, buy the dive master didn't even bother to point out sea life. EVERY dive I've been on in 30 years had a dive master that took pride in his/her job and did their best to point out - things to see - during the dive. I told the travel office on the base at Sigsbee not to recommend them. There are vastly superior shops like Southpoint Divers and Captain's Corner that will give you a much more pleasant experience. I dove with Southpoint on all of my subsequent dives in Key West. The positives: The boat was great - lotsa space for everyone, safety equipment was plentiful, and the safety briefing was well done. As I mentioned before, one of the crew (lives in Roatan, Honduras and was visiting his daughter) was very helpful but unfortunately, he was the exception. The BCDs, masks, and fins were fine. There's not really anything else positive that came out of my experiences. Do yourself a favor and use one of the other dive shops in Key West.

We of course had that "one know it all guy" on our dive but the crew was so patient and kind with him. Thanks to David for being an awesome teacher, the captain and crew for helping me out so I could snorkel and be part of the adventure. Thank you Leslie for answering all of our annoying questions and encouraging us to go. Wish we had more days in Key West, we would have gone again!

The entire crew from the front desk, to the deck, hands to the captain, are all amazing and make you feel safe. The crew here are seriously the BEST. even people that work here always dive with them on their day off that's how great these guys are! The boat is great, freshwater showers, and an upper deck seating area with great views. They even have a fresh water hose on board to rinse your gear off. Other Dive operations in Key West don't allow this. they want you to use their dunk tanks back on shore. Captains corner is also the most popular dive shop in Key West, which I like as a solo diver. It's easy to pair up with a buddy on board. This is important because in the Florida Keys most dive shops do not automatically give you a Dive guide in the water. You have to pay extra for a guide, so make sure you have a buddy! Also because they are more popular shop, they are less likely to cancel on you for having not enough people on board. Captains corner is more dependable with daily trips. My Favorite dive site is the Vandenberg shipwreck. It's an advanced dive 100 feet depth so they make sure only advanced divers with the proper experience can go for everyone's safety. If you aren't advanced, you can get your advanced certification through them, so you can do this Dive!

A little after, I heard a yell outside and the wife and I ran out. Something caught onto the line, something big. You can see for yourself in the pictures. The boat was clean and comfortable from the bathroom to the small air conditioned kitchen area where you could seek respite from the heat. The large front desk was perfect for relaxing to and from our dive locations. Captain Ralph kindly explained the rules, regulations, etc. and we complied with everything he said.
