Our first time at this beach. Has lounge chairs, $10 for the day, about 30 of them, comes w/ umbrella and a plastic table. Also has tables and chairs that are free. Nice area to swim and also a concrete pier. A beach bar & cafe is conveniently there with very reasonable prices on both food and drink! Many cocktails, some frozen are 8.50. Beers are also 8.50

A curiously small beach worth having a looksea. It's definitely not the swaths of beach you'll find on the other side of the island but it's a nice beach spot in the heart of downtown. Serviced by Loggerheads so there's chairs and umbrellas and libations on offer. They also have counter seafood eats and have been super friendly, helpful, and nice whenever we've stopped in. Imagine you could get some pretty good beachie sunset shots here.

Key West does not have great beaches but this has to be the best beach with decent sand and the clearest water in Key West. However, that really doesn't say much: it is super short and narrow, right by the Hyatt Hotel and other establishments, so it lacks privacy. The poor excuse for a beach to lounge on is embarrassingly small. There's Lagerheads bar right beside the beach to get your drinks at. There's a paid parking lot nearby.

Shhhh this is a secret and I will share with you because you are reading it on Yelp. When you are in Key West and are Downtown where's the beach? So you have to get back in your car and drive to the other side of the island right? No this hidden gem is right in Downtown! Seems last week when I was in Key West for the day the secret got out. There is a very small parking lot next to it or find street parking $$. I parked on the street and the master meter gets $4. an hour in the Downtown area. So you head on over to the concession stand get a drink and a snack. You can rent chairs here too! Note if you are actually going to go in the water wear sand shoes it tends to be very rocky here as well as you don't know what some has unfortunately dumped here. Enough said, this is one of my favorite stops in Key West to rest and unwind.

Not sure if this little tiny strip of sand qualifies as a beach. Seriously, I think it can only hold about 30 people. From Mallory Square you walk down all the way to the end of Simonton and you will end here. There is a dock and a small bar that rents out beach chairs for 10 bucks. Was kind of disappointed as soon as I we got here. Sure there is metered parking but not a lot. Water wasn't all that clear either. Most of the people that were there weren't even swimming. More like wading. So if you come here, just hang out for a bit and take some pictures then get on your merry way. Yelp 2019 Review #20 761 overall

    Love sunset watching

This beach runs parallel to Duval Street, north end of Simonton Street and is rather a small beach with tons of small boat docks. I wouldn't come here to dip in the water or sun bathe but rather pay a visit if you want to sunset watch. There's a small dock and I see people fishing now and then and it's really just a romantic scenic view at night to observe the horizon. Parking is very limited.

Sandy beach with less coral rocks than Ft Zach, but still some to maneuver across through water

My husband and I visited here yesterday for the first time and loved it. It was a nice change from the coral rock landscape of Fort Zach. We scoped out Higgs Beach first earlier in the morning, and it far outweighed the venue with the grassy wash and darker water washed ashore from the Atlantic that Higgs had. Since her grand opening about a year and a half ago, this quaint little beach has developed a nice reputation around town. This is a modest beach (about 80 feet wide), with a small boat launch to the right of the pier. The beach faces towards the western gulf side providing a nice view of water adventure groups, yachts and small water craft heading in and out of the harbor. WHAT YOU GET - - Lounge chairs with umbrellas available for rent. $20 gets you two chairs and an umbrella - Casual round tables and seating - You can bring your own sand chairs and sit along the water - Food, beer, daiquiris, and other libations for sale at the accompanying Lagerheads beach bar on premises - Bathrooms and changing rooms - Metered Car Parking - get there before 11am to ensure a spot - Scooter and bicycle parking available - Less coral rock and more sand than Fort Zach - Clean, well maintained beach area - Open in the early evening to catch a glimpse of the sunset - Kids can fish off the pier (within reason) There is a buoy chain in the water designated for children, though adults are able to swim passed that as long as you stay inside of the channel marker. OVERALL - A terrific little beach. We can't wait to visit here again. LOCALS - No discounts on beach chairs. Ask at Lagerheads for food and beverage discounts. Local ID required.

This gulf side beach is surely one of key west's finest hidden gems. This beach has its own pier, soft, white sand, & a groovy beach hut for drinks and food. A must see during the sunset!

What a gem! I found out about this place from locals. Key West don't have traditional beaches. The sand is brought in from the Bahamas. Beware it's a bit rocky when you walk in the water but that's the only down fall. You can rent chaise from Lagerheads Beach Bar for $10 and get drinks and snacks. Other beaches in a key West sometimes has a sulfur smell and tons of seaweed but not this place. Love it here!

Great small beach. Water was clear and beautiful. It was a little rocky, so some may want water shoes! Lagerheads is a little booze shack with food & a bathroom. Everything you need!

And they allowed me to tag along and snorkel. David the dive master was super patient and kind. My husband was super comfortable following him on the dive and he loved his time at the reef. We of course had that "one know it all guy" on our dive but the crew was so patient and kind with him. Thanks to David for being an awesome teacher, the captain and crew for helping me out so I could snorkel and be part of the adventure. Thank you Leslie for answering all of our annoying questions and encouraging us to go. Wish we had more days in Key West, we would have gone again!

The entire crew from the front desk, to the deck, hands to the captain, are all amazing and make you feel safe. The crew here are seriously the BEST. even people that work here always dive with them on their day off that's how great these guys are! The boat is great, freshwater showers, and an upper deck seating area with great views. They even have a fresh water hose on board to rinse your gear off. Other Dive operations in Key West don't allow this. they want you to use their dunk tanks back on shore. Captains corner is also the most popular dive shop in Key West, which I like as a solo diver. It's easy to pair up with a buddy on board. This is important because in the Florida Keys most dive shops do not automatically give you a Dive guide in the water. You have to pay extra for a guide, so make sure you have a buddy! Also because they are more popular shop, they are less likely to cancel on you for having not enough people on board. Captains corner is more dependable with daily trips. My Favorite dive site is the Vandenberg shipwreck. It's an advanced dive 100 feet depth so they make sure only advanced divers with the proper experience can go for everyone's safety. If you aren't advanced, you can get your advanced certification through them, so you can do this Dive!

The day we went, the waves were pretty choppy. I got in the water and panicked. Kelly, our guide, expertly made sure I got back to the boat. Spencer, our dive master, helped me up and reassured me the whole time. I got to spend the next couple hours hanging out with Spencer and robin (the captain), which honestly, was a great time. What I loved is how committed they were to safety, and also making me feel valid in my decision to abort the dives. My partner successfully completed two dives and had a fantastic experience with Kelly guiding him. If/when we're back in key west again for diving, we will definitely book with Lost Reef again!!

Lost Reef Adventures...the worst dive shop that I have encountered in 30 years of scuba diving…read more The negatives: The owner, Nick, was extremely unfriendly to the point of being hostile. He had a serious attitude problem and had no idea what the concept of "customer service" meant. He just stares at you, waiting for you to say something...it's really creepy. After telling us to show up at 7:00 for the morning dives, no one from the shop bothered to show up until 7:45. The crew was only okay. The dive master acted like this was an annoyance to be taking us out on a dive...like he just wanted to get this over and done with. He just swam around for 45 minutes until it was time to re-board. The boat pilot told us, "We're not leaving the dock until you get your gear ready." There was one guy (with a mullet and ear rings) that was pretty cool and very helpful. The equipment was fair, but had some issues. The first tank that I hooked up to only had 1200 psi, turns out that 1/4 of the tanks onboard had previously been used and not removed or refilled. The fact that they all had the rubber covers on the valve (indicating a fresh tank) made it very confusing as to which tank to use. My dive buddy's regulator was inoperable. The dives were fair at best. I guess Key West really isn't that great for sea life when compared to the USVI or Belize, buy the dive master didn't even bother to point out sea life. EVERY dive I've been on in 30 years had a dive master that took pride in his/her job and did their best to point out - things to see - during the dive. I told the travel office on the base at Sigsbee not to recommend them. There are vastly superior shops like Southpoint Divers and Captain's Corner that will give you a much more pleasant experience. I dove with Southpoint on all of my subsequent dives in Key West. The positives: The boat was great - lotsa space for everyone, safety equipment was plentiful, and the safety briefing was well done. As I mentioned before, one of the crew (lives in Roatan, Honduras and was visiting his daughter) was very helpful but unfortunately, he was the exception. The BCDs, masks, and fins were fine. There's not really anything else positive that came out of my experiences. Do yourself a favor and use one of the other dive shops in Key West.
