From the moment we were seated, everything was seamless. Seating was quick, service was fast, and our server went above and beyond -- great recommendations, and such a warm, welcoming attitude. We're visiting Texas from California to see family, and this was our first experience dining out here. I honestly cannot say enough good things. After reading some negative reviews beforehand, I was a little unsure, but I truly don't understand them. Yes, the food took slightly longer than what I'm used to--but even that wait was not long at all, and it was 100% worth it for the absolutely fantastic food we were served. If anything, I imagine those complaints may have come from much busier times. Overall, this experience exceeded expectations. This small restaurant and bar is VERY rustic to say the least. Before you start your visit here, you need to know that this is a cash only establishment. There is no craft beer available here other than Shiner and dos XX. However, they make a really good burger at a great price, but they have no french fries, just chips. Burgers are cooking fresh so you can expect a 15 minute wait. Apparently you can smoke inside this establishment. If you're looking for a clean, modern corporate place to dine, this is NOT it. Really like Ed's "old-fashioned" burgers and dive bar atmosphere. Unfortunately, during our last visit, several regulars at the bar were having a political discussion complete with racial slurs including the "n word". It could be heard over the music at least half way across the place. I wish the Ed's employee standing near them had discouraged it but that never happened. I always noticed the backside of the cool old building that houses Ed's Place (with it's great vintage sign touting burgers) whenever I would eat at Mueller's which is in the adjoining lot. I finally went in last week and what a surprise! The place is true old-school in it's look and the way the owner runs it. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by longtime employee Kathye. The place was originally a family owned bar (beer only) for many years, then the current owners father decided to put in a grill after his local favorite burger joint closed down. Now his son (David) owns the place and has kept it pretty much like it was when opened way back when. The have a GREAT cheeseburger, made to order, and the meat has a wonderful peppery smell/taste. Huge bonus points for them grilling the buns along side the meat!!! They don't serve fries, but do have a nice selection of chips. They also have a great selection of value-priced icy cold beer to go along with the meal. They also offer several other items on the menu. There are many old fixture to look at that are hanging all over the place, and especially funny are the witticisms tacked up behind the bar from David the owner like, "Buy Two, Get Them Both!" Super cool story about the huge mural painted on the inside brick wall way back in the early 1900's! They also have a KILLER jukebox loaded with many old-school country favorites like Gary Stewart, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Charlie Pride, and more. There are even a few classic rock cds for the younger crowd. The staff (David and Kathye) could not have been more friendly as they told many stories about the history of the place and the regulars that come there. Best of all was when I asked about their hours, and the owner handed me his card and said, "best call first to make sure I'm not out fishin'"..... Will be going back very soon! read more

I love our bbq, but when you eat it 5/7 days of the week, sometimes you crave something different. It's called Ed's Place. If you drive by, you may think they're closed. It's a bar inside, they serve burger and sandwiches, chips, and beer/alcohol. That's about it. They only accept cash. But this cheeseburger...is one of, if not the best I've had. I'd put it in my top 3 with Top Notch and In n Out, only cheaper! $4.75 (that's including tax) for a giant, fresh, hot burger. I just wish I had given it a chance sooner! He's as friendly as they come and will sit and talk with you about anything and everything. The ladies he has working with him are just as interesting, and just as friendly. I'm lucky to have found this little place. The food is great and inexpensive, the beer is cheap and ice cold, friendly people, and the jukebox has great music in it. I have only been to this place once so far. It was early winter at night. The place was packed and I have to assume that they were regulars as everyone seemed to know everyone else. I had a cheeseburger and some beers, and the prices were reasonable. The hamburger was greasy and good, but not near as good as Ferrari's. This place is much more of a bar than Ferrari's though, so its not really a fair comparison in that regards. Like many places in Taylor, they do not take credit cards so bring cash. read more

Holy heart attack on a bun! This is the best burger we have had in a bar hands down....and we've tried a few. The double is the only way to go although it may be hard to finish and walk out on your own! The burgers are huge. They are so fresh. They get fresh ground meat daily and all their veggies are crispy and cold. The beers are frosty cold and cheap. The service is great. So we were recommended by several Pflugerville residents on Facebook when we asked "where can we grab a good burger?" Lots of people commented "Ed's in Taylor. Best burger I've ever had!" So today I took my mom and my three year old there for lunch. With an open mind we were ready to explore! We missed the place once because we were looking for a Dairy Queen storefront type place. Came back and were like "oh boy, here we go!" We walked into this small, all wood and brick building. Old mismatched tables, posters, antiques, and lights. A large bar, and plenty of seating was available. The locals were grouped up in the back drinking canned beer at 1:00pm having a great time and we thought that was great since my Dad owned a very similar restaurant by Lake Travis. They were loud but definitely not inappropriate or rude. Every now and then we got a whiff of cig smoke but we were there 100% for the full experience and didn't mind it for a lunch. The girl was super nice and knowledgable, the menu- super simple and with no overhead for them. Okay guys... This cheeseburger was INCREDIBLE, I still can't get over how the seasoning and overall taste was freaking mind blowing good. Greasy, hot, just... Holy crap. They offer chips instead of fries. Sodas and bottled waters are $1 each. I'm not kidding... So simple there's no work for you to do! We loved the overall feel, real cozy if you just relax a little. This bartender is a true country cutie! A real sweetheart. She even brought a candy bucket for my son since he ate his grilled cheese. :). Recommended 100%!!!
