The lady at the front was super rude to me when I went in and after seeing some of these other comments, it's apparent she doesn't like masks or brown/black people. I would rather go to another liquor store where people won't give me a hard time because I'm a person of color. Eyeballing me as if I am doing something wrong..questioning my ID that's up to date and has literally nothing wrong with it. Note: she also has a blue lives matter flag on her front window. Margo's is the only place I shop for my "spirits". First, I love supporting local and Margo is as local as they come. She is always greeting her customers by name and I've often stayed and chatted with her after shopping, just as many, many others do as well. Margo is very knowledgeable about all the different wines and alcohol she carries. She can give great recommendations. Margo also keeps me supplied in Abita beer and hurricane fixings for my annual Mardi Gras party. She's also ordered cases of my favorite cider, just for me! While this place has a decent selection, and the owner is friendly, she acts like her establishment is on another planet and it's her way or the highway. She does not allow face coverings because she 'wants to see who she's selling to', as if face masks make us untrustworthy?? Additionally, my last visit to this store (about a month ago) she had someone sitting behind the counter with her, and they mocked a customer who asked them about the safety of them operating w/o face masks and PURPOSEFULLY COUGHED towards each other, w/o covering their mouths, talking about how they weren't worried about their germs cuz they live together... what about the rest of us? That are now having to breathe in all of whatever you just coughed out into OUR air while you won't let us wear masks? And we're even given a lecture if we use the hand sanitizer, which is provided for us to use btw, so what's the deal? I supported this store before the global pandemic, but just like thousands of other business owners, this public health catastrophe has brought out their true colors and shown us who we can't trust. Note: I have not been here since the last visit referenced, so she may have started complying to the city ordinance for masks, but that doesn't change her disrespect for people's personal safety needs or the complete disregard for her clientele's health prior, so my opinion will remained unchanged and based on my personal experiences. read more

The only business I have visited in months that is happily violating the city's face covering mandate. The woman working was not wearing a face covering and she was telling a customer also not wearing one that "it's your choice, we're all adults". The city ordinance disagrees. While the only liquor store around the area, Margo definitely steps it up a bit when it comes to her store, Common Spirits. The store is located in the Hutto Commons shopping center, convenient enough for most around the area. Now, I feel I'm really showing myself here righting a review for a liqour store right after completing one for the local bar in town but this place deserves it. Her selection has never let me down and special requests are handled perfectly. Margo's the type that will learn your name and even go above and beyond to help you any time you're in there. Need something special? Ask. I remember at one point she had 12 packs of cokes in the open and I asked if she could put a few in the cooler for us (I worked close by) to pick up at different times. Not a problem. She's able to get kegs, special orders, not so common beer and may even start stocking your special request. She's open to ideas, responds to those and even suggests her own ideas which are all decent. The place is decorated nicely, has a nice hometown feel and you just can't go wrong here. They have 2 things here that make me happy, and plenty of both. Liquor and smiles. Margo is awesome, friendly, and has a crap load of various liquors that somehow fit into a fairly small space. Almost unnoticeable because it's tucked into a small corner of a strip mall in Hutto of all places. We love this place. We rented the Beer Kegs from Margo's. She was more competitive than SPEC's and the other store in town. Plus I would rather shop local. Daily I pass by at least 10 other liquor stores on my way home, but I will never go to any other liquor store. I shop there when I'm bringing alcohol to a party and I tell others to shop there if they are coming to my parties. Margo is by far the best of the best. Friendly, knowledgeable, and hilarious. I always know I'm going to leave her store smiling. Even the other customers are happy, smiling and laughing! She knows my husband and I by name and always recommends different things for me to try. So far she has hit the nail on the head every time when I want to try something new. I was harassed by wearing a brand new mask in her store! She asked me how long I have been wearing it.. I told her I just got it out of the box.. then she asked how long will I wear it... told her after I leave her store it will go in the trash.... then she said, I do not want anyone wearing a mask in my store... there were another couple in her store with no mask.. she was behind a plastic protection between her and her customers.
