The worst military move I've had in my 21 year career. Driver smelled like a distillery, my sheets, towels, pillows, placemats, and table runners were used as packing material because the company was out of paper. My things have dings and scratches all over. The crates were packed with zero care with wood resting agains wood, bike tires thrown on top of my leather sofa, my mattresses only half boxed (and now they have stains on them from the uncovered half). This company does NOT deserve military business and if you have the choice, run, don't walk to a different company. THE WORST!! read more

After 30 years in the same house, the time came to move. I moved most of the small stuff, and then contacted Ed's along with 2 other local moving companies for bids on packing out the entire kitchen and moving just the bigger and more bulky items. Ed's came in as the least expensive and seemed to have high ratings on Yelp, so we went with them. On the day of the move, Scott came on the with three other guys. They were all pleasant and very professional! They packed up, drove to the new house and unloaded. They did it faster than they thought, and did not charge me for that extra time, so the move ended up significantly cheaper than I had agreed to pay. These guys were great. I hired Ed's to move me and my fiance, from separate locations, to our new home, located between the two. When the job turned out to be far bigger than anticipated, the company manager (Matt) sent additional trucks and crews to ensure that our move finished on time. Just as important, he stayed in constant phone contact with me so as to minimize the inherent stress of the situation. To a man, all of the movers were genial and kind; and, boy, did they work their asses off. It's fairly uncommon to encounter such exceptional service (especially at so fair a price) as I received. I hired Ed's moving out of Lakewood, Washington a month ago to move a upright piano and some bedroom furniture less than ten miles. They showed up 20 minutes late, without a lift gate truck for the piano. They dang near lost my piano over the side of the ramp while loading it and I had to help them push it up. The kicker was, as they disassembled our new bed they knocked over the headboard and took two large chips out of each corner. After three weeks of calls to get it rectified they finally told me I could file a claim form... Turns out, when I settled the bill they tricked me and told me to initial "here and here" What I initialed was a clause that pays 60 cents per pound for damaged goods. The headboard weighs about 100lbs so they offered 60 dollars. I went back to Macy's and of course I can't buy just the headboard...To get it right I have to buy the whole bedframe for $1400. These guys are the most unprepared, irresponsible, and reckless movers I have ever had. Coupled with the lack of professionalism or the courtesy to return phone calls. I would not recommend you waste your time or trust your valuables with them. If you do be very careful if they give you the "Initial here and here" routine. read more

John from their office came to our studio apartment, inspected the quantity of stuff we had to move, and gave us an estimate. The moving crew was available the next day to move our stuff, they were efficient and professional. I hired this company because of great reviews I read on Yelp. Scott came out the day after I called and gave me an estimate. I felt comfortable after talking to him and was excited that I wouldn't be the one moving all the boxes! Our actual cost was close to the estimate. I looked at the receipt later that night and the men wrote that they came to my house at 8:00am, when they actually came at 8:30. A half hour off is pretty significant when I am paying $97 an hour to move. I called the day after and talked to Matt who said he would call me back after he looked into the situation. Two days later, I called back again because I heard nothing. Again he assured me that he would call me back. I never heard anything. I have a hard time supporting local businesses when the customer service is poor, and they steal my money. read more

We used Ed's for our second time this Spring. We've moved quite a bit over the years and have tried out a number of "pretty good" movers locally and a couple of horrible ones (One other company threatened to leave all of our stuff on a truck because it was "too hot to unload" the day we moved-I had to call a friend and unload the truck ourselves). Not Ed's. They've been great both times we've used them. Both moves ended up going a bit faster than estimated which saved us some money. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Ed's moving company. Cody and Sky were incredibly pleasant and helpful. They unpacked larges boxes for me, even offered to carry things up stairs for me as well. They also took said boxes with them so I wouldn't have the hassle of disposing of boxes 3 times my size. I would not recommend this company. Over two years they consistently messed up my billing telling me I hadn't paid my bill when I had. When I found a cheaper mover to move my goods out of state, I paid them $189 warehousing fee to get my things ready. Not only did they lose my sofa but I ended up with other people's things! My coffee table had water damage from the storage and I spent a month sitting on a lawn chair while waiting for them to send my sofa. They refused to refund any of my money. I would not use this company again. Showed up with a truck with no ramp and lift gate was broke. They did move anyway which took twice as long. Billed us 6hrs to do a 3hr job @ $120hr. I called Jackie the owner the next day hoping he would make this right as equipment failure and forgetting a ramp is not my problem and shouldn't be my expense. He would not concede any money after going around and around for 20min on the phone. I'm very unhappy. I don't think it's unfair to think a professional moving company charging $120hr should have proper equipment. Use Ed's moving at your own risk and wallet. I won't be again. If something happens, just know it's your money that matters more to them than customer satisfaction. read more

I moved with Ed's a year a half ago and they did a good job. So, I called them for this move last week. What a huge difference. I don't know if it's immersion in the Allstate culture; but it was obvious that they didn't care about our belongings. They showed up with a bad attitude: rude and obnoxious. The driver, Roger, was really just interested in leaving as soon as he arrived at eight a.m. I actually felt a little bad for his crew, who did their best, but with that kind of "leadership" well, you can imagine how the day went - very badly. I especially like the way he threw my belongings into used boxes with dirty tennis shoes on top of my daughter's earrings and sweaters (even though I requested ten boxes and a packer ahead of time). I was given used/dirty boxes, with the items literally thrown into them. I have not opened all of the boxes yet....but am sure looking forward to more atrocities by this "certified" packer (certified to pack what? I would like to know? crayons maybe?). We contacted Ed's Moving & Storage for a local move, and only anticipating moving a few items that were too heavy/bulky for us to move ourselves. Jon came to our place and gave an estimate for those few items, and also said that his movers would take other items if needed. Everything went as planned; the movers were on time, courteous and professional. And yes, they did take a couple of extra items that Jon had anticipated. ;-) They were so efficient that they ended up taking less time than our original quote. I realized it later when I looked at the invoice, and called them to ask if we could be credited for the difference, and they were happy to do so. From the packing to the moving everything went better than expected. We just did a local move but we didn't want the hassle of packing and lifting all the heavy boxes and furniture. Ed's was great to work with. They had some staffing issues on both days but they got the job done and stayed within their estimate. So Awful. This was the worst moving experience I ever have had and I have moved 5 times over the years. First, they didn't lay anything down or cover any of our stuff to avoid leaving a huge mess. Our brand new white mattress has handprints all over it. It was so bad the manager had to come out and told us he would take care of it (get it cleaned or buy a new $700 cover) and now the company has said they will do nothing. Second, this was expected to take about 4 hours because the new place was only 5 minutes away, it took nearly 8 hours because the guys took their time. We could have done with the extra time and a little bit of a mess, but broken promise after trusting them to do right by us, really makes this company selfish. Id rather pay twice the cost for someone that want screw you over in the end. read more

Some moving companies hire anyone, Eds hires professionals with personalities. They placed everything as I requested and even put a runner by the front door to protect the carpet at my new place. I just made a long distance move, by myself, to a place new to me. Thus, I had no help from friends or family with the unloading of all my stuff (and I have a lot of stuff for just one person). Thankfully, I was able to narrow my search for helpers down to a couple of highly rated local moving companies due to this wonderful lil' thing called Yelp. Of the two companies I contacted, I chose to hire Ed's, as they offered the best price, and were the most reassuring when working on a plan & schedule with me. Although all kinds of things went wrong with other aspects of my move, and I therefor had to change the details w/ Ed's several times, I must say that I am quite impressed with the performance of everyone involved, from the manager to the movers. Matt, the manager, was always gracious and understanding, and met every curve I threw him with a "can do" attitude. The movers were great as well - they showed up early (even though I showed up late), and made real quick work of moving all my items, and arranging them as I directed. Incredibly, it only took two guys a couple hours to move what took me and my friends two days... They finished the job well under what I had estimated - and I must say again - they were fantastic guys to work with. I gladly gave them considerably more than they asked for payment, and assured them I would be calling them again for my next move. With that said, I highly recommend utilizing the services of Ed's. They know what they are doing, and they are capable and willing to adapt to any issues that may surface throughout the course of your move. Note that I tend to be really picky about services & products, and I usually don't leave a review unless it's of something either absolutely stellar, or just plain wretched.
