Finally tried this affordable omakase on my restaurant list! The experience and service here were amazing. Sushi was fresh and delicious. I like how they offered soy sauce in the side in case we would like to add more. It was lunch omakase and the 9 pieces + miso were a good portion. The restaurant was spacious and cute! I like the outdoor lighting shining through the curtain.

I've never been to an omakase before, so I didn't have much to compare this to, but I really enjoyed the experience overall. We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday and opted for their 10-course sushi lunch, which is a very reasonable $55 per person. They ask that you make a reservation in advance, which we did. We arrived a few minutes before noon and had to wait in a hot alcove outside, which wasn't the best start. But once we got inside, the interior was clean, modern, and comfortable. There were only two parties during our lunch seating, including us, so it felt very calm and intimate. The food itself was great. All the fish tasted super fresh, and we really appreciated that the chef explained what each item was as it was served. The service was also friendly and attentive without being overbearing. At the end of the meal, they asked if we'd like a second serving of anything. Normally, hand rolls aren't our thing, but the toro hand roll was so good that we all wanted another round. Unfortunately, they had run out by that point, which was a bummer. A really nice surprise was that they brought out a small individual cake for my mom, which was such a thoughtful touch. If you're looking for a relatively affordable omakase experience in Toronto, or just want to try omakase for the first time, I'd definitely recommend giving Edomae Kiyomi a shot. It's a great way to celebrate a special occasion without breaking the bank, and I'd happily come back to do it again.

Overall an amazing Omakase experience! Took my partner here for his birthday and it definitely delivered. We did the sushi omakase and right when we arrived, we were welcomed with amazing service right when we walked in. We were seated and given the set menu for the night. The menu is different everyday depending on what is fresh and imported for the week. Owner said that they get their ingredients imported everyday when there's a lot of business but every 3-4 days during off-peak season. There were only 6-7 people at the restaurant when we had dinner so the service was fantastic and very personable. It felt like we were invited for a private tasting or something like that with the chef and owner having nice conversation about the dishes and their experiences. The sushi itself was fresh and great! We got to try many different fish that we would've never gotten to try if it wasn't for this experience. The most enjoyable part is seeing them prepare it in front of you as you're seating right in front of the chefs. The host went beyond making my partner feeling special by adding a candle on his dessert and offering paper cranes for Goodluck and even an extra sushi just for him. Really appreciated that! The quality and dishes were amazing! One thing I will say is that we came from a recent Japan trip so nothing was "mind blowing" but that's a special circumstance so I cannot compare or dock marks off. It definitely would've been different if we had not experienced this in Japan. Overall an amazing experience from food to service and to attentiveness throughout the night. Truly a great Toronto business to support, and will definitely be back to try the Tempura Omakase next time. Hope they continue to offer the 30% cash discount. Also another note is 15% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Not an issue for us but something to note! Of course, you can add to it if you have the means for their great service! Our bill came around to $350 with cash discount for 2 omakase, 2 glasses of sake, and tea!

If you are looking to try a different experience for dining, look no further than this place! Their lunch omakase experience is $55/10 courses. You can't get a better deal than that in the city! The price has increased over the past year, based on prior reviews, but I still think it's a good deal. It's a small place so I understand. Located conveniently on Yonge/Gerrard St, this small restaurant offers impeccable service and fresh and delicious sushi. Only seating is at the bar (I believe in the summer they may have a small patio open), where you can watch the chef prepare each piece of sushi for you. A great experience, with lovely service. They do add auto gratuity to the bill (but we were advised accordingly prior to paying). They do also offer a dinner omakase but of course that's more expensive (but also more courses). Definitely try out the lunch experience!

We came here for the lunch omakase and had a great meal! The lunch consists of 10 courses including miso soup. For $55 it might just be the best omakase deal in the city. The location is conveniently located right near church and gerrard. The ambiance is gorgeous, and all the seats are at the bar where you can watch the chefs prepare each piece. We had 7 sushi pieces, one handroll, and one tamago. I really enjoyed the bass, scallop, and the squid with uni! I was also surprised with how much I enjoyed the tamago which was soft fluffy and had a touch of sweetness. Service was great, attentive and refilled drinks regularly. I want to try out the dinner omakase sometime but will definitely be back for the lunch!

Highly recommended omakase spot for all occasions! All the spots were booked up on OpenTable, however the team was able to squeeze me in via a request on social media (Instagram). They have an extensive list of sakes to chose from, however I am not a fan of alcohol so I a cup of their green tea. I loved how attentive they were, my tea was constantly through out my meal (worth the 5$). Note: There is an automatic 15% tip on the bill, but they deserve it!

OVERALL: Wonderful omakase experience in the city. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for premium sushi omakase in Toronto. We'll be back to try the tempura omakase experience which is one of a kind. VENUE: Came in on a Friday evening with a 7pm reservations. The restaurant is nicely designed for a premium experience. We loved the design of the back wooden wall. Street parking was available across the street, directly infront of the restaurant. FOOD: We opted for the sushi omakase experience but will definitely be back to try the tempura omakase. The sushi course had 21 items which is a lot. It started with an excellent sashimi appetizer and was followed by a great selection of sushi pieces. We sat facing sushi chef Katsumi who was great at explaining each sushi piece to us along with some of the history and nuance with his style of sushi, including the Edomae specialty of preparing the fish. The stand-out pieces for me were the squid in the sashimi appetizer, mackeral (cooked), scallop, toro (there were two), the chef handroll. I also ordered a sake flight (3) to go along with my meal. The sake was an top notch selection and each one was different that went nicely with my food. SERVICE: The nuance of an omakase restaurant is the service experience is both from the server and the sushi chef which I've touched on above. Our server was excellent. She was kind and offered to check our coats. When we sat down, she explained to us the omakase course ahead and offered us a drink menu with recommendations. She was attentive and checked up on us quite regularly including removing plates that came with some courses and refilling water etc. VALUE: The premium omakase experience is pricey but it's at the expected price point that is comparable with competitors in the city. For the price, you expect high quality food, drinks and excellent service and it was all delivered.

I haven't write the review for a long time (lazy....) but, I really need to recommend this Japanese Cuisine for everyone because I don't understand they didn't have many customers BUT their food was extremely yummy. Everything fresh, also you can taste at least 3 favors in every single bite of their sushi. So crazy surprise for us. Owner is nice and the chef just came from Japan for a year. Before Sep 30, 2024, you can also entitled to have 30% discount if you paid by cash, do...around $100 for theory sushi Omakase. I am not paid by them LOL, but, I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Went here for the $48 lunch omakase special which consists of around 10 pieces of sushi. For our seating, it was around an hour and there were items such as scallop, snow crab, squid + unagi, yellowtail, bluefin tuna, a handroll, etc. For dessert, there was a folded egg dish. Pros: + Good selection of different and seasonal sushi. + Cheap for omakase - $48. + Ordered the tea and there were constant refills. + Vibes inside are nice. Place is clean. Cons: - Wasn't really a fan of the squid+unagi and the bluefin tuna. Tuna was extremely fishy and had the skin on it. - Drinks are expensive. - Guy serving me didn't talk too much but I didn't mind that. Note there's an automatic 15% gratuity added to the bill.

Came here for the tempura omakase. Food and service were both excellent. The chef showed us each food item and told us the origins. He also recommended the best way to taste them. Thumbs up for the chef. Food was very fresh. The tempura batter was thin and crunchy. You don't see oil left on the paper underneath. My personal favour was uni on top of a leaf tempura and garnished with edible flowers on top. The presentation was like an art piece. Chef recommended to eat it in one bite. The uni melted in your mouth and the tempura leaf added in a bit of crunchiness. It was amazing. Service was excellent. I wanted to try tempura egg and the chef made 2 kinds for me to try. It was an awesome dining experience. A bit pricey but it was worth it.

Came here a while back for my birthday and had mixed thoughts about the meal. It wasn't the best omakase I've had but the ingredients tasted fresh and were of good quality. When I went, it was a 17-item menu and the variety was pretty standard. You definitely expect traditional cuts and courses when it comes to omakase but there was nothing creative about their menu that wow'ed me in the slightest. My main issue was their lack of attention to detail. My boyfriend and I each found a large fish scale in different pieces of nigiri. For an omakase at their price point, this is a major oversight that should not be acceptable.

With all my respect, this place is a scam! With 2 phone calls to confirm my reservation, no one told me that the 30% off promo only applies to cash. Even not on their website where we spotted in the first place. We were rudely forced to get our cash with a 5 mins walk outside without any explanation either apology. The owner who was present didn't show any understanding of his own mistake but rather chose to be indifferent! I can't stop to wonder if there is any bureau that I can report this shameless scam for stopping more people to be the victim. Please be careful to ask before you choose to dine here!

Came here to try the tempura omakase because i have never heard of it with my gf and surprisingly it was quite good. In addition it doesn't leave you unsatisfied as there are seafood and veggie pieces that fill you rather than sushi omakase. Ambiance was pretty nice though a little dim. The chef was funny and told us about each individual ingredient. Overall a good experience.

    Lunch service per their website.

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn. If you do try out this place, expect great katsuya.
