We've visited Edo Higan a number of times and have been happy with our food and the generous service every time we come. The restaurant has a wide variety of food so you can bring all your friends. Our favorite sushi roll is the Reed Roll, so unique and flavorful. We also like grabbing a dessert here as they have a decadent tempura ice cream that is always delicious. The food in this restaurant is simply pure gold. The soy sauce adds a little salty tang, the sushi melts in your mouth. There are options for every kind of person: spicy lovers, you got it! No spice? No problem! Not a fan of too salty? Great. The tempura is delicious in every aspect, the miso soup is delightful, and I definitely recommend the green tea. (My favorites.) We haven't even gotten to the service! All the waiters are kind and accommodating and will help you find something perfect for your taste on the menu. I personally love this one young man who served us once and now takes time to welcome us in every day, whether he can serve us or not! The restaurant is also amazingly comfortable. Little cushions can be found on many benches, beautiful and entertaining paintings to observe while you wait (not long) for your food, etc. One last thing is that it isn't too expensive. After two visits at this place trying different dishes, I believe I can conclude my review. Solid four stars from me for great service, reasonable price, and good foods. This place is a sushi restaurant in Park Meadows mall and that made me had pretty low bar to begin with. The location was great as it s a part of the mall so you don't need to worry about parking. The inside is spacious with indoor and outdoor sections. The outdoor area looks nice with a view of shoppers walking around on the well maintained and decorated walking street. Service here was very friendly and attentive. Our server was really nice and paid attention to detail. We ordered the big eye tuna app, the grilled chicken on black stone thing, Hamachi Kama, Amaebi and Ika sushi, salmon skin roll and the yellowtail with scallion roll. Foods here were delicious. My most favorite item was the Hamachi Kama and the sauce was so great. Very good dipping the fish in. Ponzu and some kind of spicy oil I think...Next was the Amaebi and Ika sushi. The shrimp head was fried so well done. Very nice job. The ingredients were fresh and yummy. The remaining items were good but not as outstanding as the first two. The sushi rolls here were considered a very good choice. Reasonable price in my opinion. Overall, we satisfied with everything and will come back. Just went here for Mother's Day . We had our 6 year daughter with us. The decor was great and it is very close to our house. The service was really great. Hmmm I'm still not sold. This was my 2nd time here. I ordered the Chirashi sushi, the presentation was nice, although they could've added more Shiso leaves and a little ikura. Sashimi selection was ok but the super fake white tuna was kinda scary! and it was watery to the bite which meant it had been frozen for a while. The sashimi should be thicker and shorter, not cut so thin and long. Rice flavor was good. The only thing I have to say, is the huge deep bowl. It makes it very hard to eat anything at the bottom of it especially with chopsticks! Our server was awesome, very nice young guy named Hunter. The manager (?) however, was not very friendly, no smile. she had her back to the front door the whole time, not a good bye, nor thank you, which is unheard of! Should I try again?? Hmmm. We came here on a Wednesday evening. The place was almost empty. The ambience was lacking. The food was ok. I would say that I have more concerns for people with allergies after this visit. I ordered asparagus as one of my sides and not only half of it was yellow but it had strange flavor to it. Wow. I've never had sushi sit so long and still taste amazing. I ordered through GrubHub and literally my only complaint was that the food was ready TOO EARLY. It was scheduled for 5:45 and I couldn't get there before then. Earlier in the day, i got a message saying it would be ready from 5:45 - 5:55. So I was shocked to get a message at 5:30 saying it was ready. I was annoyed since you don't like sushi to sit out that long, and I also had to drive home. We didn't end up eating it until 6:30 but I took the risk since it looked so good. And it was! So good. Every roll we tried was delicious and the chicken udon was excellent too. Found piece of plastic on my chirashi bowl. I had to flag down waiter for the 15minutes as they were short staffed. The male waiter came after flagging him down and when I told him what I found he explained to me what it was. I think when a customer brings up a concern about plastic found in food, they should apologize first not explain where that plastic came from. I got tired of hearing and had to ask "is this edible", and that's when he said no so I'm sorry about that but I wanted to explain it to you. The female waitress was much more understanding about that. I have no idea where these good rating are coming from because my food experience with Edo Higan was anything but five (or even four) stars. My husband and I are trying to find our GO TO sushi spot when the cravings hit and Edo Higan will NOT be the place. First off, the portions are TINY... And the price tag is HEFTY. My husband and I were both insanely disappointed to see how LITTLE food we got for $100. However, when we started eating, we did NOT WANT MORE of what we got because it just was NOT good. My husband got three different rolls that didn't disturb him so much that he had to stop eating, but he certainly wasn't blown away at all... He told me, it was all just- OK. Me, wow. No. Gross. Disgusting. These words are harsh but I have no other words to use! I got a cucumber wrapped roll that was insanely bland... Like legit zero flavor. I feel like I was "eating" water... And then I got my typical order of six salmon skin hand rolls, no rice or veggies. Well, they got the order right but the salmon skin was SO VERY WRONG. It was... SPICY. Like they seasoned the skin with some spicy seasonings before cooking it (to a chew consistency- not even crunchy at all).... And it was HORRIBLE. All I could taste was the SPICE. And I absolutely HATE spice. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?! If I wanted spicy salmon, that's what I would have ordered. I was SO SO SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS ORDER. Ugh. It's easy to tell that we will NEVER EVER go back to this sushi spot. EVER. You have been warned. read more

Very convenient location in park meadows mall. A clean, nice interior with plenty of seating and a sushi bar and drink bar. They offer sushi boats, one with one regular roll and one premium roll and chef's choice of fish that feds 2-3 and one super style boat with more, enough to feed 4 people. Overall it's pretty expensive, but the quality of fish and rolls is top notch. I'm just really disheartened to give a three star review, but I have to. I am "that person" who doesn't eat raw fish. I asked for just a normal spicy crab roll, basically a California roll with no avocado because i just wanted one roll to snack on while my family was eating that super awesome boat. Never even thinking their would be tobiko on it and the server didn't mention it (as great as he was besides that). It came loaded with tobiko, something I absolutely cannot and will not eat. I felt uncomfortable, but sent the roll back, only for it to come back having them wiped most (and not all) of the tobiko off. It was clear I wasn't eating it and was really upset about the situation. Nothing was done. If I had been allergic, that could have been dangerous. But even more so... it was a simple spicy crab roll that could've easily been remade, especially after what we spent. I will absolutely give them more chances, but I felt really upset by the entire situation. read more

When you go out, the food should be good, the service should be enjoyable (not necessarily fast - unless it's fast food), and you should walk away feeling good about the whole experience. This was our experience at Edo. The food was super good - we even got to meet the owner/head chef - and Matt, our sever, was personable and genuinely curious about our food (we're vegan). My personal gauge for sushi places (after living in Japan for a couple years) is whether or not they have natto. Edo's natto was heavier and had way more umami (do I sound pretentious yet?) than many of the other sushi places I visit, and they very much cater to people with different food preferences/allergies. Matt told us they have a, "vegan" button on their system that informs the staff not to add any non-vegan decorations (I've had to deal with that at other sushi spots). This is our new favorite sushi place and will be visiting them again next time I don't feel like cooking, or my family or team is in the mood for excellent sushi! read more

I have mixed feelings about Edo Higan. We didn't have a particularly good experience here, however they are still quite new, we went during an off hour, and their service recovery was very good, which is why I am giving them 4 stars at this time. We are hoping to go back in the near future and I will make sure to update my review then. You can see the photos of the restaurant here on Yelp, definitely an interesting interior design and decor. Nothing crazy but just different. There are a lot of tables inside but I didn't think they were any closer to one another than what you see in a lot of other restaurants. So comfortable seating overall. Our waitress was obviously new to the job and probably new at being a waitress. She was a bit slow and was not particularly great at service (yet!) but she was really trying and it was obvious she was trying to learn, which I think is important to consider. So to me, at the end of the day, she was great! We weren't very hungry so my husband ordered the 2 for $10 roll (yellowtail and eel), I got the unagi don and also ordered the eggplant sushi because eggplant is basically the king of vegetables and is awesome. The rolls and unagi don are VERY reasonably priced. Especially the unagi don because that dish was HUGE and I will come to that shortly. They also come with a side of salad or soup, husband and I both opted for salad. The salad tasted like any other salad in any other sushi-type restaurant. The eggplant sushi was the most disappointing part of the meal, unfortunately. It had this sweet sauce on it and one really couldn't taste the eggplant at all. Now, I have a few theories as to why this may have been the case: this restaurant is new and while to me it seems normal, ordering eggplant sushi is probably not what a lot of people do. So for all I know, I may have been one of the first people to order this dish and maybe it was pre-prepared and had been sitting for a bit... Regardless, I'll likely try this item again next time I'm here and I hope that I will be able to taste the eggplant then, rather than just the sauce. The unagi don is awesome. I mean it is the largest unagi don dish I've ever had and the price compared to amount of food you get is definitely more than reasonable. It comes with 8 pieces of unagi on top of a giant bowl of rice and also has other condiments in the bowl. The unagi itself isn't particularly great or bad, just normal. Would still highly recommend to all unagi lovers. The rolls though were a bit disappointing, especially the eel roll. My husband took his first bite and started coughing, and turns out there was a significantly large piece of bone in the roll! Two pieces actually. So... This was not acceptable, of course. We told out waitress who stumbled a bit and didn't really know what to do... Which was slightly awkward. She kept offering bringing another roll, even though we kept saying no we would like another eel roll (this exchange occurred at least 3 times). Again though keep in mind she is likely new to the job. Thankfully who I assume is the manager must have been informed of what happened, because she came out and apologized to us. She asked if I had any issues with my dish, which I didn't. She explained why she think this may have occurred and how they will ensure it won't happen again. Overall we were pleased with the service recovery and appreciated that it involved a strategy to ensure what we went through does not happen to anyone else again. So... New restaurant. We will be back to give it another try, but one thing I can definitely say is that the prices here are reasonable considering the dish sizes, at least for early dinner/late lunch hours! read more
