When we got there, the bowling alley was completely empty, and they turned on the lights for us. This place from the outside sign to the inside, screamed vintage, which is pretty unique and a breathe of fresh air from the more modernized bowling places out there like Bowlero/Brunswick. You have to keep your own score (there's an app for that too) and the machines were in working shape. Vintage ash trays at the score table if thats your thing, or use it as a cellphone holder like my kids did. The balls return on the top of the lane, so that was pretty cool to watch, but be careful if you decide to somehow want to cross different lanes. Plenty of bowling balls to choose from. The staff was relatively friendly, although perhaps partaking slightly with the drinking customers, but friendly nonetheless. There were 5 of us, and the total bill from just one game, rentals, and a lemonade was $42. I asked about it because I thought it was $6/hr, plus $2/shoe rental, and was told because we ordered a lemonade as well. That was an expensive non-alcoholic lemonade, I guess. BATHROOM REVIEW: Bathrooms located in the bowling alley section, it was rather dingy, but it got the job done. One urinal and a stall in the men's bathroom, and a working sink. My hands were cleansed afterwards. Sit of squat? Squat.

It's also tough to get a reservation at Pinstripes, especially on a cold or rainy day. Fortunately, there's another solid option in the North Shore: Wilmette Bowling Center. This one reminds me of the bowling alleys I visited often growing up and again in college. I did bowl thru the years, although you would never guess based on my (lack of) skills. They don't take reservations so you have to take your chances that you may have to wait. My youngest attended a birthday party here recently and had a great time! It was busy with other people bowling on a winter day, but still felt like chaotic than pinstripes, which always seems crazy to me being such a big venue. He also seemed to enjoy the pizza. In fact, he told me he wasn't going to eat at the party because wanted to eat sushi with us after, but came home with evidence of pizza (and cake of course) all over his face because he said he couldn't resist it.

If they ever have that contest between the two, Wilmette Bowling Center pizza can represent Chicago. The crust is to die for and the pizza itself is made to your specifications. I'd just let them pick for you if you're undecided on what kind to get. They take great pride in their pizza and it shows. This place should be on the National Register of Historic Places. It's old school style and history with all the modern amenities. You can't manufacture the vibe of this place. You can tell they take pride in it because it's spotless, the employees are responsive, accommodating and good natured. Definitely one of the unique cool features of the North Shore.

I was recently gifted a set of golf clubs from my nephew.  And I haven't golfed in like 30 years,…read morebut that fact didn't deter him from gifting it to me, lol.   Well, if and before I hit up any golf courses, I first need to hit up a driving range, and so here I am on this day, and there will be need for more sessions lol.   This facility has a nice driving range setup.  I really don't know if it's tip-top state of the art, but it's plenty good.  They actually have 4 separate driving ranges.  3 of them are built into the back of their main building and on 3 separate levels - their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors actually.   The bays in these ranges used to have member card readers, but these were recently replaced with keypads that use a registered user online account to charge your prepaid account for the number of balls hit. Each bay has automated ball and tee dispensers which is quite nice, and it's like being spoon-fed your tee shots!  The 4th station is in a grass area where you can hit naturally off the grass.  The current cost is 21.8 cents per ball on the grass.  On the driving range bays, it's 13.0 cents per ball for seniors.  It's a high tech and convenient operation here and their driving range ball rates seem reasonable, so it's a big thumbs up from me and the facility certainly met my needs.

The holes themselves are visually appealing and everything is in good condition. Pace is an issue, but only on a relative basis, as I finished in 2:10 despite 3 lengthy delays from holes 5-9. There were 2-3 groups waiting, so it's probably possible to finish in 1:30 or less. Bathrooms in the clubhouse and between holes 4-5 are very clean and have requisite items like soap, hand dryers, etc. The beverage cart came around once, which is fine for 9 holes, as you also end up near the clubhouse regularly. Nearly every hole had a ball washer and they were all topped up and had towels. I didn't try the restaurant but it looks like an excellent place to watch a game and likely has the standard pub fare. Overall, it's a good spot to walk a quick 9 that's not too far from downtown and is a high quality option vs other city run courses.

Based on what we saw, the programs here are well managed and the ice is well maintained (though a little rough in patches). There is plenty of parking if you're visiting. The only complaint is that the "so-called" visitor seating is very small and as a visiting parent I was shocked to be asked to move to the "right" section. Of course I didn't, because I was comfortable at center ice so I could see my son play at both ends. Aside from the unfriendly welcome from the opposing team, I think this is a great place to enroll your kids or come in for an open skate!

Oakton offers the same admission fee only their Resident/Non-resident prices are $65/$75 (significantly cheaper). Quality of the ice. The rink isn't even smooth. Never once have I been here and the ice was smooth. Huge gashes in the ice which cause the less experienced skaters to fall more frequently. It's very dangerous actually. I DO NOT recommend this rink if you're a new skater or would like to teach your young ones how to skate. A better option that is the same price, better quality ice and a much safer experience would be Oakton Ice in Park Ridge. It's worth the extra mile honestly.

Just says fees for practice range but doesn't say how much. It is 4 dollars for 30 balls, 7 dollars for 65 balls, and 14 dollars for 150 balls. Cheapest price in town. Harry Semrow in Desplains is 13.25 for an extra large bucket which is 160 balls. So 10 dollars more, but for 75 cents difference. So 150balls is not bad for 14 dollars. 10 balls is nothing and harry semrow is much further drive. So this is apretty good deal. And twin lakes in Palatine is half price on mondays 4 dollars for a large bucket 70 balls. But only mondays. This 150 bucket at wolmette is good all days. No weekend hikes like other places. And they have a place to eat. Haven't tried it yet. But its better then no place. So no driving all over looking for a place to eat. Just hit balls and then eat when you get hungry or thirsty.
