It had two beds-one was a king and the other a queen. What a nice surprise! There is no air conditioning in most hotels in Europe. With the windows open and a fan I was quite comfortable because the temp was around 60° the three nights we were there. The hubby who likes it much colder said it was bearable. The staff was friendly. The hotel was clean. I don't remember if breakfast is included in the price. There is a buffet breakfast or you can order off the menu. The last morning I ordered the smoked salmon, poached eggs, and sourdough toast off the hot menu. It was delicious. Had to have smoked salmon before I left Scotland...wish I would have ordered it sooner. Yummy. Would have given it 4 stars but with the lack of ac and having to climb several sets of stairs before you get to the elevator I'm giving it 3 stars. In all fairness, on occasion I did use the hotel ramp to get into or leave the hotel but that entailed walking through the rain. It did, however, lead you directly to the elevator.

This was all fed back to staff but unfortunately got no response. The saving grace was the fact the bar and restaurant area is clearly a new addition or had recently been revamped. My food was pretty good and there was a decent choice on the menu.

They double booked our room so their overflow room is a gorgeous two bedroom apartment down the street. We gladly accepted! The apt was amazing and very comfortable. They even walked us over at night with our luggage. Breakfast is included and delicious. The owners were just so friendly and accommodating it was a very relaxing stay in Edinburgh. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the castle in a more residential part of town. Still only a block away from shops, restaurants, and pubs.

I think everyone in our group participated so we had a packed house. The restaurant itself is cozy and the hotel is a small bed & breakfast. It's a gorgeous venue located down the street from our hotel. The service was great. Our table happened to be the first to be served so that was nice and we were closest to the bar. Anything we wanted to get from the bar was paid for separately so that was easy. If you ever wanted to try haggis, this is where you want to have it. It was served with taters and nips pureed on top with a whiskey cream sauce. The haddock was flaky and delicious. The sticky toffee pudding is delicious. The food was phenomenal. We were also treated to the musical stylings of Andy the Piper. He happened to be the Queen mother's favorite piper and has played for the Queen on numerous occasions, including a performance right before ours. Bar has reasonable drink prices and friendly service - definitely check it out. Also a small restaurant with an ok breakfast buffet (Glasgow Marriott beats it hands down though). Concierge was also really awesome at explaining what to do in the area. I got one of the larger king rooms with a sofa bed. The hotel and rooms are definitely on the older side. Bathroom was adequate size though not large. Biggest issue though, is the rooms have no A/C, the recommendation was to crack open (since you cant fully open any windows) and request a fan. Even worse, the requested fan never came. The bed was fairly comfortable, sofa bed not so much. Overall, in desperate need of a renovation.

Growing and then pureeing tomatoes from scratch?! Anyway. This place is not for me.
