For the price of this hotel, you'd expect the rooms to be nice, but that was not the case. There was dirt on the beds comforter and there was something that looked like a cigarette burn on the chair. The shower required instructions and the breakfast was subpar for what we paid. The inside of the hotel is beautiful and they have very nice facilities, but when you're paying for a clean place to sleep, it was a disappointment.

Overpriced, Noisy, and Far from Edinburgh - Avoid at All Costs…read more Our Cosmos tour had us stay here, and we paid an additional $395 for an extra night. What a complete waste of money. The hotel is incredibly loud at night -- trains constantly pass by, and groups of people gather outside near the trash area for smoke breaks and loud conversations well into the night. Getting any sleep was nearly impossible. We went down for lunch at noon and were told we couldn't order food until 12:30, but could order from the so-called "24-hour menu." The options were terrible -- low-quality pizza and sandwiches that tasted like something from a gas station. To make matters worse, the location is far outside of Edinburgh, so getting anywhere interesting is inconvenient and expensive. It's clear Cosmos uses this hotel because it's one of the few with open availability -- and after staying here, it's easy to see why. Bottom line: Do not stay here under any circumstances. It's overpriced, noisy, and completely lacking in quality or convenience.

We enjoyed this hotel on a previous stay, but not so much this time. Apart from the breakfast area…read morebeing much more crowded, room selection was the main difference. We were in a room facing the "back" side, with a view over the trash/recycling containers, and noise from deliveries and trash going out to the containers. Much more noise here from trains late in the evening and early morning. Like everyone else this summer, Novotel is working hard to deliver service in the midst of a surge in travelers and a shortage of workers.

First…read moreof all it is very close to the airport, which was great after my 15 hour flight in from Los Angeles. Brian and Wendy are truly wonderful hosts and have everything running smoothly at this B&B. The room was clean and spacious and had everything I needed - comfy bed, warm shower, perfectly functioning wifi and flyers on things to do in Edinburgh. I was greeted warmly upon my arrival, and Wendy explained everything to me quickly and in a friendly manner. She even made me a nice cup of coffee with a cookie, which was perfect after driving in the cold rain to get there. The breakfast was also delicious - perfect fried eggs, tasty butter and toast (they also had many cereal options and juices, tea or coffee). Overall great B&B and highly reccomend for those who enjoy staying at B&Bs.

Wow--what a home run!…read more Far less expensive than the big hotels but clean, quiet, comfortable, and personal. Brian and Wendy could not have been nicer including setting up a MD appointment with the national health care system for me for my flu/sinus infection. Nice breakfast and fast internet. Rooms are exactly what you need and there is a bus stop in front of the B&B that goes straight to Waverly Station in the city. This is also minutes away from the Edinburg airport and parking is available. Mini-grocery/gas station is a 2 minute walk. Highly recommended.

The White Lady - Und wenn es ans Übernachten geht: Die Zimmer sind sehr praktisch ausgestattet und mit einer Portion Kitsch dekoriert

The place is a clone of all other Wetherspoon pubs across the whole UK - it was foolish to think that there might be any uniqueness to this place. It is now very expansive inside, think Standing Order tables and decor. For a Sunday afternoon it was completely rammed with loud, drunken louts taking advantage of the cheap drinks on offer. I've never seen so much fake tan and exposed belly on show on a Sunday avo - what a disaster. This is the last place I would ever look to visit in the Corstorphine area for a quiet Sunday lunch. Food was typical Wetherspoon's fare. After waiting a ridiculous 20 minutes, a lentil and bacon soup arrived that had the consistency and look of fresh sick. Upon requesting a change to tomato due to the vomity consistency and chunderous smell, we were informed there would be another 20 minute wait. For one bowl of soup. What were the chefs doing? Growing and then pureeing tomatoes from scratch?! Anyway. This place is not for me. If you want a cheap, loud watering hole for a bit of boozing and like an ogle at badly fake-tanned bulbous bellies then it's probably for you.

So why only 3 stars I hear you ask.... Probably because it comes with no thrills and lacks of originality. The decor is common, the service is OK, the drinks are just what you would expect them to be but that's what I expect from a chain pub and that's OK if you want a night out without burning a hole in your wallet. Also it has a good outside area with table and outside heaters which comes very handy on a Scottish sunny day.
