One of the major benefits for me is that they let you borrow a straightener from the front desk. My hair was so grateful!! The rooms are tiny but that's to be expected in Europe! The WiFi wasn't fantastic either but we really didn't need it much.

There is a restaurant in the hotel but there are a LOT of restaurants within walking distance. We had asked for a room with two beds thinking they would be single beds. (Our last experience with hotels in Europe was not a great one. We had a tiny room and a tiny bed,) When we got our room it was bigger than we expected. It had two beds-one was a king and the other a queen. What a nice surprise! There is no air conditioning in most hotels in Europe. With the windows open and a fan I was quite comfortable because the temp was around 60° the three nights we were there. The hubby who likes it much colder said it was bearable. The staff was friendly. The hotel was clean. I don't remember if breakfast is included in the price. There is a buffet breakfast or you can order off the menu. The last morning I ordered the smoked salmon, poached eggs, and sourdough toast off the hot menu. It was delicious. Had to have smoked salmon before I left Scotland...wish I would have ordered it sooner. Yummy. Would have given it 4 stars but with the lack of ac and having to climb several sets of stairs before you get to the elevator I'm giving it 3 stars. In all fairness, on occasion I did use the hotel ramp to get into or leave the hotel but that entailed walking through the rain. It did, however, lead you directly to the elevator.

Owned by Sir Rocco Forte since 1997, the building has been completely refurbished and now enjoys a worldwide reputation as a luxury hotel. The hotel is a well-loved landmark which has graced Edinburgh's skyline since 1902 when it began its life as a grand railway hotel. Of course the building has undergone many changes since then but even to this day it still holds a certain magic that has luckily been harnessed and maintained. The famous Balmoral hotel is an iconic feature in the Edinburgh city skyline. The Balmoral has been hosting royalty, celebrities, and cultural icons for 120 years, but the staff makes everyone feel special regardless who you are. We went back two days in a row because it is such a beautiful space with quality food and cocktails. The design is stylish modern classic with some of the most beautiful glassware I've seen. The cocktail menu hosts a nice variety of wonderful signature and classic recipes. I had the Nutty Professor (photo #2) which was a tasty blend of Bourbon, spiced rum, Cocchi Torino (sweet vermouth), Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur), and black walnut bitters with an orange garnish. It was so good I didn't change it up for my second. The cocktail menu is fun because of its local focus. They use fresh, locally sourced ingredients, reflecting a commitment to quality and a connection to the surrounding Scottish landscape. We loved everything about the experience for our first time visiting Scotland. The Balmoral Hotel and Bar Prince are a must when you visit beautiful Edinburgh. Go there!!! Salute

This hotel has the major advantage of a supreme location as it's only a 10 minute walk from a host of famous Edinburgh attractions and highlights. Just some of those very nearby attractions are the Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum of Scotland, the Greyfriars Kirkyard cemetery, the Royal Mile, and the Grassmarket Market commercial district. Besides that and more, there are a ton of pubs and other eateries of all sorts of cuisines close by. Then there are their normal hotel amenities. It's a spacious hotel housed in a historic building built in 1892. The room we have is cozy and comfortable and we even have a nice 2nd floor view of Edinburgh Castle. The Hilton chain staffers are also always able to look up my Hilton Honors member number for points even though I never remember it. I can't give this Doubletree a bigger thumbs up. Thank you!

My partner was here for work, and I tagged along for some solo exploring during the day and couples' nights out. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining hall with a solid English breakfast selection, including haggis and blood sausage. There were also juices, a smoothie, porridge, and a menu with additional items from the kitchen, some included, some with an extra charge. King Room: The room wasn't huge, but they made good use of the space. I wouldn't say I loved the TV stand being right at the foot of the bed, but other than that, there was just enough room to open my luggage comfortably. The bathroom was a decent size. AC, robes, ironing board, desk, wardrobe and mini fridge, all used and appreciated. Only downside: the room smelled strongly of mothballs. Overall Service: Check-in was at 3PM, but we arrived early and the staff gladly stored our bags so we could grab lunch and explore. Everyone we encountered, from front desk to breakfast staff, was extremely kind, professional, and welcoming. They hold themselves to a world-class standard of service, and it truly came across in every interaction. And yes, you do get a warm, baked cookie at check-in. Always a nice touch.

It's $65 per person, so definitely more of a treat, but it felt worth it. We started with sandwiches -- about six per person. They were fresh and decent (we skipped the ham options), nothing extraordinary but a good start. Then came the pastries... oh my god. Absolutely the highlight. Delicate flavors, beautifully presented -- they genuinely felt like little works of art. Tea and coffee were unlimited, which I really enjoyed, and the serving staff were incredibly sweet and attentive throughout. A really charming experience, especially for the ambiance and desserts.

Of course, No accountability, immediately blamed it on 'colleagues' for loading it 'incorrectly'. picked everything up, got car loaded. I decided to tip him anyways because I worked service once upon a time and handed him a five. Instead of saying 'thank you', he said 'yeah'. Needless to say, his attitude and ungratefulness was unexpected after dumping our possessions into the middle of the sidewalk. My wife went back in to see if they could find a glove the same bell desk lost when they brought our items in for check-in. Same bellhop was completely flippant - "it's Edinburgh, we don't have your glove, anyone could have picked it up". very beautiful hotel, breakfast is excellent, fitness/spa very nice, customer service we received from everyone else was top notch. Will give them benefit of doubt, & probably come again, but might not ask for any more 'help' from bell desk.

This was an extra add-on to our trip but it was well worth it. We had a wonderful 3-course meal where we were able to choose our starters, entrees, and desserts. We also received a free glass of wine, beer or Irn-Bru of our choice. Irn-Bru is like the Coca-Cola of Scotland. I can't say what it tastes like since I went with a glass of wine. I also had the Scottish haggis, haddock in cream sauce, and sticky toffee pudding. The dinner was fantastic and went beyond my expectations. I think everyone in our group participated so we had a packed house. The restaurant itself is cozy and the hotel is a small bed & breakfast. It's a gorgeous venue located down the street from our hotel. The service was great. Our table happened to be the first to be served so that was nice and we were closest to the bar. Anything we wanted to get from the bar was paid for separately so that was easy. If you ever wanted to try haggis, this is where you want to have it. It was served with taters and nips pureed on top with a whiskey cream sauce. The haddock was flaky and delicious. The sticky toffee pudding is delicious. The food was phenomenal. We were also treated to the musical stylings of Andy the Piper. He happened to be the Queen mother's favorite piper and has played for the Queen on numerous occasions, including a performance right before ours. He told jokes and played some traditional Scottish songs with his bagpipes. He posed for photos and was quite awesome. It was a lively dinner and it was a great time had by all.

The place is a clone of all other Wetherspoon pubs across the whole UK - it was foolish to think that there might be any uniqueness to this place. It is now very expansive inside, think Standing Order tables and decor. For a Sunday afternoon it was completely rammed with loud, drunken louts taking advantage of the cheap drinks on offer. I've never seen so much fake tan and exposed belly on show on a Sunday avo - what a disaster. This is the last place I would ever look to visit in the Corstorphine area for a quiet Sunday lunch. Food was typical Wetherspoon's fare. After waiting a ridiculous 20 minutes, a lentil and bacon soup arrived that had the consistency and look of fresh sick. Upon requesting a change to tomato due to the vomity consistency and chunderous smell, we were informed there would be another 20 minute wait. For one bowl of soup. What were the chefs doing? Growing and then pureeing tomatoes from scratch?! Anyway. This place is not for me. Also it has a good outside area with table and outside heaters which comes very handy on a Scottish sunny day.
