I can't tell you how many compliments I got on the fact that "it didn't taste like catered food"! The whole crew was awesome and took care of things so that I didn't have to even think about it during the reception. They packed all of the remaining food up and cleaned the kitchen so well that you wouldn't have even known they were in there. I'm so grateful that on my first time hiring a caterer, I found someone to work with who followed through with everything they promised, and more!! Book Them, you won't be sorry! Thank you Nikki!!

Storytime: a husband wanted to open a BBQ joint. His wife wanted to open a gourmet donut shop…read more So, they did what all great visionaries do: they combined the two and created Smoke & Donuts here in Orlando. Friends, this place is proof that compromise can be beautiful. Sweet meets spicy meets (meats?) savory. Every bite felt like someone dared a pitmaster and a pastry chef to create the ultimate brunch, and somehow they pulled it off. The only drawback? Ventilation. It's stuffy inside. Plan on smelling like a smoky glazed donut the rest of the day. PS. If anyone wants to bring this concept to KC, I'd like to be considered an early investor. Or at the very least, a highly enthusiastic taste tester. Holy hell. Brunch of champions.

The restaurant is cute and vibey. Reminds me of Austin, Tx a lot since there were many places like…read morethis one. It brought me back a great memory and the ambiance in general was nice. Parking wasn't an issue either. As I walked in, I was greeted by who seemed to be the owner and a young woman. Very nice, lovely staff. Everyone was so sweet. My only issue was that they didn't have a good portion of their menu ready and it's mostly because they didn't have the gravy for their dishes. The ones we wanted came with gravy and the staff let us know they were behind on making it. So we pivoted and tried their prime rib smash burger but unfortunately that felt a little disappointing. For the price that it was, you'd think that you'd get a decently portioned burger or some sides with it but it was super tiny. And the bun felt like grocery bread, the type you can get for a home bbq. It was still delicious but rather disappointing at the same time. We ended up having to order a third dish just to feel satisfied and at least it was very good. The bowls are worth it, maybe not the burger but the bowls for sure! I also snagged up a donut and truthfully that is one of the best donuts I've ever had. Another downside to this spot and why I didn't give it a 4 star is because how slow the service was. We watched a whole family get up and leave because it was taking so long, I actually felt bad for the staff and owner. The place has great tasting food, just needs a little shaping up. Maybe someone who can run the kitchen as a head chef. Overall, I still recommend the place but just know that you'll be waiting a while and some things may not be available.

My mom lives close by and we have been here when it was La Casita and a Puerto Rican restaurant…read more It was pretty good then. Well now it's been changed to Mexican with a Puerto Rican twist and it was really good. I never have high expectations for Mexican spots in Orlando but this one is legit. My wife is half Mexican and half Puerto Rican so this is right up our alley. We also travel to mexico 3-4 times per year and love Mexican food and we used to live in Puerto Rico. I ordered a burrito with carne asada. Wife had a torta de milaneza. My mom got tacos. We ordered surillitos as an appetizer. We sat down and the chips were served. They came out freshly fried up home made. The green sauce wasn't too spicy but good. We asked for a spicy sauce and they brought out a red sauce that had a nice kick. It was hot and I love it that way. Wifey and I had orchata to drink and it was good. They asked if we wanted to try the chicken pozole at no charge. We said sure and they brought out 2 bowls of the most delicious soup I've had in a while. It was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich with deep flavor with super tender chicken and homony. Id come here just for the soup! Bad part is the pozole is only made on weekends. They have a salsa bar too. They have 6 different types of made salsas and veggies to add if you want. The sorullitos were great. My burrito was huge and it tasted great. Wifes torta was huge also and she really liked it. The fried steak (empanizado) was fantastic in the torta. My mom got her tacos "supreme" which comes with tomatoes, sour cream, and lettuce along with the onion and cilantro. She liked them. We ordered a stuffed chili pepper to go for my sister. The service was great. Our server was very attentive and explained the situation with the new menu and name. They speak Spanish and English here also. This is a great spot and for sure Ill be back when visiting my mom.

Extraordinary…read more When I heard I could have a private chef prepare a meal for my family and me and that I COULD AFFORD IT, I admit I was skeptical. The chef showed up about 5 minutes early. He put on some tunes and he didn't even mind me watching him work. He explained that he was making a New Orleans style meal for us and I got so excited. Could he pull it off? I worked in a New Orleans/Cajun style restaurant for about 5 years and I know that you can't fake the funk. The meal was amazing. We started with some perfectly prepared cheese grits with an interesting twist. He added an egg to it and I couldn't believe what I was tasting. The texture was perfect and the egg gave it an very pleasing consistency. The starter was enough for a meal but he went on to prepare a moist chicken quarter perfectly baked and topped with an AUTHENTIC sausage gumbo. I've always had the chicken lumped in with the gumbo and never would have thought to do something like that. I was absolutely fabulous. So fabulous that my daughter (who only eats chicken nuggets) tried it and enjoyed it! If that wasn't enough he made homemade fried beignets! I asked that he not give us tons of processed sugar (my wife is in her second trimester and sugar has been making her notoriously sick). To my surprise he gave us a choice of pure agave, and honey! It was an absolute knockout! After this experience I can't wait to see what he will do next time. It was a privately prepared and custom made meal at the price I would spend at a restaurant with questionably sourced ingredients. Bravo Rabbit Hole! 10/10!

The Rundown: You're paying for name, not necessarily a quality experience here…read more The Review: I'd never been here before, and it was rather hyped up before attending so I was looking forward to the experience. Initial impression from outside: Nice, I was surprised to find a golf course/(can you call it country?) club in the city! Once stepping inside however, it was very apparent that there was a general lack of attention to detail which I found odd. On the main screen the event going on is displayed and then you find yourself greeted by: a damaged sign advertising their Instagram. At a place that costs this much I'm really not sure how this is positive advertising? Took away from the initial experience. During the catering service the food was quite good, not anything that gave a memorable culinary experience and I'd say above average for catering but wasn't anything I would rave about. The odd part was the staff was almost TOO attentive. You'd turn around and anything at your spot belonging to the facility was removed. Did you go up to get more food? You'd return to find all the utensils gone. Eating and paused for a moment? If not, you'd likely turn and find an arm pop around you to remove your plate and any utensil around. It left a sense of feeling rushed and inconvenienced as there were no utensils clearly visible. You'd have to ask the staff who would direct you to utensils on a black tablecloth covered by a black napkin where there were a total of three sets. They were never refilled throughout the service so the running joke became asking your neighbor to guard your utensils and napkins if you'd step away otherwise risk eating with your hands. Also one of the staff you could always tell when she returned from a smoke break which was disappointing. But at least you knew a server was nearby when the odor of smoke came around and know your items might disappear if you weren't holding on to them? Overall, for the price you're paying keep in mind it's strictly for the name. The experience was subpar and I've been to better events where people spent less. This one felt very transactional - and not in a positive way.
