Bella Vintage - Vintage necklace! (with cat help)

Lured by the siren song of chairs, I wandered into this adorable store. It's wonderful. While it…read morelooks small from the outside, there is a large back/side room, and there is furniture! The aesthetic is that glowing, comfortable, homey feel of the "childhood" scenes in the new Little Women movie -- not the specific period (though I saw Eastlake dining chairs), but the sense of buying a classic piece that was part of a home and now it's going to be part of your home. It's all delightfully non-snooty, and the housewares aren't the same ones that show up in every antique mall. I ended up buying a necklace and am clutching the business card for the day when I buy a larger place.

Vintage, Retro. Antique ... all those things describe Bella Vintage, although vintage is probably a…read moremore accurate description. It's not a dusty, musty shop of goods that look as though they were dragged out of the garage or attic and nothing here appears to be a modern take on an antique. Things are old, but necessarily antique. So vintage it is, I guess There's a gift shop feel. The lighting is soft, and colors muted. Spread out amongst three rooms is about anything - from teapots, cookie jars, kitchen items and a great deal of miscellany -- to add an interesting accent to a room or a collection. Each room has an overall theme of a sort. One room seems to focus on kitchen, another on study or bedroom, and the main room has day to day items of home décor. Browsing is easy -- the aisles are wide enough to turn around without knocking something over, the placement of items keeps your eye moving. Unless searching for something specific -- and I'd recommend asking the owner, who apparently knows every item in the place -- spend time browsing. It might be a trip down memory lane for you, your parents, or even your grandparents.

Colonial Flower Shoppe - Hello Sunshine Bouquet Deluxe

Colonial Flower Shoppe

Gifted myself with a bunch of lovely decor items from their beautiful Christmas Shop. Did a short,…read moretargeted trip (a time when nobody else was there but 2 ladies working behind the register/flower arranging area, wore a surgical & cloth mask, spent as much as time as possible as far as I could get from the register, etc). I'd seen online a smattering of what they had to offer (in reality they had much more, but I had the general idea). As an immunocompromised person, I just wanted a little mitigated-risk shopping in a quaint little setting. My little slice of holiday shopping perfection was a real gift. The shop itself was lovely, with little vignettes set everywhere--glittery trees and red cardinals and berries here, rich burgundy velvet and gold pieces and pine boughs there, woodsy things, garden things, coastal theme scenes--something, I think, for about anyone. It was just enough variety to produce that special shopping experience without the overwhelming "oh my goodness there's still another room?!?" you can get in some places (much love for big villages of shops, but not for me this year). I quickly picked an armful of pretties for my living room now and into deep winter. It's going to look soooo pretty, and I will be back for spring! Colonial Flower Shoppe has some very beautiful things, including their own stunning florals. Oh, yes, I will be back. I would not have a proper review without mentioning the good people who run daily operations (probably the owner and an assistant?). Two very friendly, genuinely caring women who not only complimented me on my selections, they also found a perfect box and protective wrapping to put everything together safely in one box for transport but also with storage in mind. THANK YOU!! You've made my life easier! Have a happy holiday season, ladies, and we'll see you in the new year, God willing.

Colonial Flower Shoppe - The left is what I was supposed to get and the right is what I got. I ordered through Blooms Today and they gave me a full refund. Yikes.
