I pass by it everyday going through the rotary, but for years could never figure out how to get there. One day, after years on wondering, I asked my wife how to get there, and she told me the entrance is behind that gas station on Pleasant Street. Well today, I did it, I successfully found my way inside In search of sugar free chocolates for my crazed diabetic mother-in-law. It's a decent size shop, with some nice displays, and a variety of different candies, but it seems everyone is there for the chocolates. Service was very nice, and willing to accommodate my special request of a custom sugar free gift set. They took the extra time and effort to decorate the two gift sets I bought in Valentines Day red ribbon. It's strictly candy, and much more of a variety of chocolates than Pete's Sweets down the street. P.S. To the old man(must of been Maureen's father)who was blatantly watching me as soon as I walked in. Chill out dude, I didn't rob them or steal anything, but did give them a $50 sale, and a four star Yelp review. Stopped in a second time and the place was in disarray. The carpet was dirty, and needed to be vacuumed. The chocolate cases were all messed up and low on supply. Maureen wasn't in the greatest mood. My wife was less than impressed with the state of the place, selection, and especially the prices.

I wasn't sure if my mind was playing games on me, but on my last trip to Northampton this chocolate stand was called Heavenly Chocolate, and now they're called Firetype Chocolate. They simply decided to go for a new name. They're just a small stand located across from Share Northampton. The chocolate variety they offer is anything but small. One little truffle will set you back almost $3.00. As far as I could tell everything is sold individually, not by weight. I got some of the chocolate that sounded a bit interesting, also the barks are a bit larger than the truffles. I got the Salted Almond Bark, Maple Honeycomb and another one that's very similar. These are such quality chocolates. The honeycomb is a bit sticky, and you might need to floss your teeth right after. They also have a small selection of gummy candy. I got the pear, these are soft and juicy. These are unique, flavorful chocolates, that any chocolate lover is sure to appreciate. Firetype Chocolates are made by hand right here in Northampton. This is their only physical location.

Locked in at the bar and it took me a minute to figure out what I wanted to eat but ultimately decided to go with penne meatballs and a cup of the Soup. Everything is homemade so when the soup came out and looked at me in the face I knew it was going to be absolutely delicious, and it was. Almost through pepper in it but didn't need it. Didn't even want crackers either. I spooned every last drop I could get of broth. The penne with meatballs came out hot! A very full bowl definitely pushed me to being full. Meatballs fell apart and or spot on with taste. For dessert I went with the pistachio cake, OMG! The only place I can compare this to that's equally delicious is tease bar and pizzeria in Stanford Connecticut. Every bite was flavorful. I enjoyed the place so much I decided to get a gift card for my grandparents for being awesome grandparents. A place for a date night.

Salad was fresh and crisp with a light balsamic vinegar and olive dressing. Bread was good and a side plate for oil, balsamic vinegar and Parmesan cheese. The pasta was covered with a delightfully light sauce that brought back memories of yesterday with a true Sunday meal. Meatballs were soft and flavor full, sauce was sweet and exploded with flavor as I chewed, pork ribs were nice, soft and the bricole was the star of the show. It broke apart removing it from the family style bowl. $30 each and it was amazing. Family owned and operated, nicely decorated, delightful little place. The waitresses were mother, daughter and had a great personality. We finished up with coffee and split a slice of carrot cake which was very good. Clean, comfortable and delicious. Highly recommend.
