Everyone hates going to the dentist. But if you have to get a root canal go here. I was referred here by my dentist at Legend Dental (Dr. Lin is awesome!) and Dr. Zac who did my root canal was efficient, effective and almost like a phantom. He was there, did the thing and then he was gone. Miranda was the one who made sure I was not freaking out. Internally I was near tears and clenched my fists the entire time but she checked in and tried to make me as comfortable as anybody can...She was so soothing, gave very clear instructions but also thank god for the laughing gas add on. It's $200 out of pocket, so you bet I was inhaling DEEP. It was less than 45 minute of work since I only had one root whereas my experience at another place took 3 hours (but that tooth had 3 roots). I was expecting another traumatizing experience but aside from the bill, it was as good as it can get for having to get a root canal done. I appreciated how fast it was and the post care instructions. I was sore the rest of the day but I didn't need to take Tylenol as suggested.

Just wanted to comment my experience which was considered a dental emergency Friday 15 Sept. My emergency was severe pain related to infection in two upper bicuspids, resolving the issue was done smoothly, successfully and with so much concern for my comfort and how the procedure was going. For me as a senior citizen it was refreshing to see Dr. Salmeron and her staff work as a team and make me so at ease. In my opinion you are in good hands at Edge.

We were referred to Dr. Salmeron for a root canal. Based on our insurance they incorrectly looked up, we were told we'd have to pay for the procedure out of pocket up front. After the receptionist looked up found our correct insurance, they didn't accept, we still had to pay and will have to file our own claim later. Unfortunately my son was in far too much pain to cancel. The assistant insisted I leave the room while they perform the procedure, rudely suggesting that I might pass out. At my son's behest I waited in the lobby. Rather them focus on him than being concern about the large man in the corner. As for the good doctor and her bedside manner; in a word impeccable. She was thorough and concise and accommodated my son to insure he was completely comfortable. They made sure we understand everything. If you can drop $2500 up front, the insurance is a minor inconvenience. I suggest calling ahead and making sure they are contracted with your PPO. That's my only knock on them honestly.

It makes the visit less stressful. As soon as I checked in I had a couple of attestations to read and agree to on their mobile tablet. Within minutes I was taken to the back. Dr. Amin was very thorough with explaining what he was going to do. I did appreciate the choice of listening to music on Pandora or a show on Netflix while he worked on my tooth. The procedure went smoother than I imagined. If I ever need another root canal done I would schedule an appointment with Dr. Amin.

Sure, the endodontist had performed thousands of these procedures, but what if this was the one time something went wrong? What if they somehow snipped a nerve? They always say there's nothing to worry about, but isn't that exactly what people say right before disaster strikes and the train jumps off the tracks? Maybe it was just my pre-op jitters... The office staff made the check-in process easy from the start, sending my paperwork electronically so I could complete everything before my visit. When I arrived, Dr. Amin introduced himself and walked me through the procedure. For anyone fortunate enough to be unfamiliar with root canals, the treatment involves removing infected pulp from inside the tooth and filling the space with a rubber-like material to preserve the tooth. Then came the anesthetic injection with a metal syringe (didn't even know doctors were still were using these). Thankfully, they first applied a numbing gel before administering the shots. To be honest, it initially felt more like a swarm of mosquitoes staging a full-on attack on my mouth. Fortunately, within minutes everything was completely numb. The procedure itself was surprisingly smooth and uneventful. No unexpected complications, no nerves damaged, and no dramatic stories to tell. Afterward, however, half my face remained numb. When I tried to speak, the result sounded like someone attempting to communicate through a mouthful of marshmallows. Later in the evening, the numbness wore off and the discomfort arrived like an uninvited houseguest who somehow knew the "secret" location of your spare key. Fortunately, I was armed with pain medication, which provided almost immediate relief. The bottom line? I survived. The procedure was far less intimidating than I had imagined, and I'm looking forward to enjoying a pain-free mouth once everything has fully healed.

I drove from Fredericksburg--a four-hour round trip--leaving my 7-month-old and taking an entire day off. Because he came recommended, I trusted I would be in good hands. I was understandably nervous. I've had root canals before and experienced significant pain afterward, so I communicated that anxiety openly. From the moment Dr. Duggan entered the room, his demeanor was dismissive and arrogant, but I tried to brush it off. As he began administering the numbing injections, my anxiety increased. Before the third injection, I asked to pause for a moment to collect myself. I even tried to lighten the moment by mentioning that I had labored naturally and wasn't sure why I felt so anxious. At that point, he had spent no more than five minutes with me total. His response was shocking. He became visibly frustrated and said, "You're wasting my time. You need to let me do my job or get out of this chair. I know what I'm doing--you don't." I was stunned. No patient--especially one who is anxious and vulnerable--should ever be spoken to this way by a medical professional. I sat up in the chair, in tears. He then made an incredibly condescending and inappropriate comment, saying, "How did you ever labor naturally?" and walked out of the room. I went to the waiting room and broke down. When my husband confronted him, Dr. Duggan denied everything. We left immediately. This was not simply poor bedside manner. It was unprofessional, demeaning, and completely unacceptable--particularly toward a young mother who simply asked for a moment of compassion. For a procedure costing $2,700, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Choose a provider who respects patients, listens, and treats people with basic human decency.
