Location is excellent- right in the heart of the CBD - and the food is all excellent! We loved it so much we ate here several times on our trip. The building is one of Auckland's historic buildings dating back to 1910 and the space is decorated so nicely. Definitely a great spot to relax and hang out. The seating in the core is totally British pub style with dark wood tables, benches, and dim lighting to add to the ambiance. The seating around the outer rim is lit with skylights above and decorated like the streets of Europe. And all around the walls you'll find some really fun neon Asian street signs - such an interesting mix and makes it really fun. Our fave restaurant is Lepak. They serve up Malaysian deliciousness and our fave dish was the Nasi Lemak - coconut rice, chicken curry, nicely fried egg - fabulous!! We got this several times and it was consistently excellent. We also tried their chicken satay, Malaysian milk tea (hot), and mini curry puffs - all of it was lovely - highly recommend! It's not a fancy place, it's cramped and there's little room to sit apart from awkward stools, but for me that's by the by because the noodles are amazing. I've never been a fan of noodle dishes because they've struck me as boring. It was in equal measure out of laziness and hunger that I walked in here a few days ago, as it was peak hour and I just couldn't face the checkout queues at the store to pick up something for dinner. I ordered one sweet box and one hot box (or similarly-named dishes, I don't recall exactly), and I was wowed. Maybe it's in part the fact that this is a new(ish) dish for me, but the flavour just sucked me in (don't mind a lame pun). The hot box in particular had this tangy, spicy sauce going on, kind-of 'soy-saucy'... it was just divine. I couldn't stop thinking about it so I went back for more this evening. I'm no authority on dishes of this kind, I don't have much to go on by way of comparison, and I'm sure there are probably better noodle dishes out there... but these ones really hit the spot for me. I see this being a regular dinner option for some time to come... possibly until it develops into a minor issue ;)
