This is the first time I've left a negative review about a company. Generally, I'd rather just move on from a bad experience rather than pouring more energy into writing a review. But if I can help someone avoid what I went through with this company, it will have been worth it. The EcoShield agreement offers a 100% guarantee for free touchup services in between regular visits. On their first visit they treated the outside but not the inside, saying they would call me to schedule an inside treatment. They never called. After about two weeks, I called to ask if they would come out to do the inside of our home. The representative (clearly a call center) said she'd relay the message to EcoShield and someone would call back. They never called. About a week later I called again, same promise from the representative, same result. They never called. I called again. Same result. Frustrated, I called to cancel the agreement, feeling that a guarantee which had not been honored should be enough. This is where things got ugly. I was transferred to a guy in their "cancellation department". Over the course of a 25-minute call I asked him no less than 5 times to please cancel my agreement and tell me if he could waive the $250 cancellation fee. He ignored my requests and kept pushing - hard - to change my mind. This wasn't the polite kind of encouragement . . . it was clear that he was angry and frustrated at my continued request to cancel and he kept coming back with stories, excuses, suggestions . . . everything but acknowledging the one thing I was asking for. His energy was ugly, as was his behavior. He couldn't/wouldn't recognize my attempts to end the call so I finally had to speak over him (he was close to yelling at this point) to say "thank you, I need to hang up now". You feel dirty after a call like this. Just incredibly unpleasant, unfriendly, and unnecessary. A few days later, I received an email asking me to pay the $250 cancellation fee. I'll pay it and move on with my life. If this doesn't sound fun to you, I suggest avoiding EcoShield. read more

I signed up for EcoShield Pest Solutions last year after a sales guy knocked on my door and told me he had been doing some work at my neighbor's home. I listened to the deal he offered and it sounded decent enough to me. My only question to this guy was this: "I'm moving to SC in a few months, so this deal doesn't lock me into any cancellation fees or anything like that, does it?" I was assured that "No, if I was legitimately moving away, I could do a minimum of two treatment services, and I would be out of the contract, no problem." Well, that has not exactly been my experience with this less than honest business. The sad truth to my story, for EcoShield anyway, is that they actually did a decent job of spraying and controlling the spiders I had been having in my garage! Their solution seemed to be working and after two treatments I would have given them 4 stars on here! It's what happened when I had to put my house on the market and prepare for my move to SC that EcoShield suddenly became this absolutely horrible company and used bullying tactics to try and scare me into paying a cancellation fee... yes, the same one that I had been assured didn't exist. Now it's gone on for like 6 moths and I'm getting annoyed at their debt collector who has been texting me. EcoShield has got to make a decision: Are they going to be recognized as a legitimate business or one that treats customers like crap, lies to customers, and then charges these hidden contract cancellation fees? Because my story is just one of HUNDREDS that you can read on here. The theme is the same... it really seems like EcoShield would prefer to collect revenue through these cancellation fees far more than they are interested in solving anyone's pest problems. Shows up in a community of no soliciting. Claimed I signed a contract which is incorrect, I declined to sign until I spoke with my landlord in regards to this. I did set up first appointment for the following morning. I then had a neighbor come by and explain to me(a single mother) that they are scammers and whatever they claim (infested with black widows) was untrue. I then declined first treatment and then the following morning, they tried to charge my card and said they completed the first treatment they night prior, which is also untrue( it was raining) called into customer service following morning, and they stated they can't cancel a contract I didn't sign. I would give 0 stars if I could. The Service quality and knowledge is clearly lacking within this company. We have let them know about mice before and they have never checked any entry ways into the foundations of the house and won't send any one out within a 3 month time frame to address issues that they can not resolve. Additionally, they quoted us 6k more than other companies for attic remediation and I would highly recommend not paying this company to service your property and pursue other options! They offered to give me a $30 discount on my next service to compensate them not properly figuring out how to get rid of mice in hopes that would help us pay their outrageous quote for the attic remediation. An EcoShield door salesman offered a 2 appointment service to help a local business that "he started." Once the 2 appointments were complete I was scheduled for a third appointment. I called to cancel and was told I couldn't until completing 12 months / 4 appointments without a hefty cancellation fee. The customer support was unhelpful and clearly has dealt with this often, pretty much saying tough luck. DO NOT work with this company. They're shady and take advantage of trusting folks. The work they do is very overpriced and takes them about 15 minutes, a quick Google of which products to buy and a few minutes on YouTube is all it'd take to do the work they do. read more

If zero stars were permitted I would give it zero. Do not do business with this company! The door knock salesman got me at a weak moment. We had some ants and I bought treatment. They also said that it needs another treatment in a month, so I agreed to that. When they sent a message out that they were coming again, I said, "no, thank you." They came out twice, I paid for two visits. Fine. Then when I told them I didn't want to have any more treatments they told me I signed a two year contract. Quite honestly the biggest scam I have ever fallen into. They had a sales rep come out and completely lie to my face about being able to cancel the service whenever I want. Which is untrue what was actually in the contract. They never even got rid of the bees that were under our porch which was the only reason I even considered the service. Instead, I had to get rid of them. Then after calling the service rep to explain that I did not want the service they told me about the contract saying that I couldn't cancel. Total scam company. They use high pressure door to door tactics, targeting the elderly and ignoring No Soliciting signs. Then they lock you into "auto-renew" contracts that they charge huge fees to let you break. Then as a bonus the actual service doesn't do anything to decrease pests - saw a huge increase in spiders and wasps after their "service." Zero value. Zero effectiveness. Absolutely worst company I've ever worked with. Sold me an exclusion service that was wildly over priced for the work that was done and was willing to sell me the work knowing that it wouldn't accomplish the goal of excluding rodents from my crawl space. Also was told I had no account balance but then received notification that my balance was being sent to collections. Trying to cancel with them has been the biggest headache of my life. Salesperson came to knock on my door claiming that my property manager sent them to inspect my garage for black widows. I refused them access to my garage and asked them to leave the property; they refused. Confirmed with my property manager that they were not asked to come to my location. Meanwhile, they went door to door to every house and refused to leave the property when asked a second time. I reported them to the police. The ecoshield company left a door hanger on my vacant house that indicated they treated for pests and it took 40 minutes. The locks have been changed. There is no possibility that anything was treated. When I called to let them know they didn't ask for an address but said the situation is handled. Scam. Now I wonder who will be billed. read more

The crazy part is, I was getting ready to actually use this service. The salesperson was initially friendly, but as soon as I told him I needed to talk to my husband before scheduling, he immediately became pushy and hostile. He continued to ask me why I needed to talk to him first, and why I couldn't move forward without him. I kept asking him to give me his card so I could contact them when I had time to review the contract, but he kept pushing it off and trying to get me to schedule with them. He then proceeded to give me a high level overview of the contract and asked me to sign it on the spot, and when I said I could not sign it until he sent it to me and I could review on my own, he said "did I not just read it to you?" He even said,"I can sign it on your behalf if you want?" Hello?? I will not be signing anything unless I can read it first!!! He then proceeded to show me a map of my Neighbours who "used" the service, with first AND last names, and addresses; that's a violation of privacy and creepy- you guys were close to making a sale, but with the disrespectful tactics, you lost it, and thank god I didn't move forward after looking at the reviews. from looking at the reviews, seems like this is a consistent experience. Yikes, I got trapped in a spiders web! Luckily, I eventually figured it out and texted and emailed them repeatedly before the treatment time they had taken the liberty to set up. "Wow. The reputation of this company online is horrible. Do not come to blah, blah, blah property address or proceed with any services between 4-6 today. If you do, clearly understand that you will not be paid and will be trespassing. The property owner will not be paying for it or any cancelation fees. Please cancel any and all contracts with me regarding this property immediately and/or in the future. Have a great day." A couple hours later, they claimed they came anyway against my repeated requests not to and proceeded to send me an invoice that I will never ever in a million years pay. We've used Eco Shield for several years now and the company has seriously gone down hill. DO NOT use them unless you want their tech to destroy your brand new carpet with mud. (See photos) The tech was so unprofessional and tracked mud all over our basement and then left like nothing happened. I had to send them a carpet cleaning quote, and it has been 19 days and I'm STILL waiting to hear back from someone on when this will be resolved. Completely unacceptable that I have to wait this long to even get carpet cleaning scheduled. Managers are hard to get a hold of and one of their local Denver office employees is extremely rude and hangs up on me when I call for an update. our relationship with EcoShield started in May. at first things seemed fine as they came , did a service and said call if you still see things. we did this to complain of continued wasp infestation. many appointments were scheduled but no one showed up or someone came to "inspect " and no service was performed. after multiple calls and now three months later, in frustration we called to cancel their service. now Monday morning at 8 am, our door bell rings and two men say they are there to get rid of wasps. I told them to "go to it!". 5 minutes later, they too were nowhere to be seen as they left doing nothing. what an unreliable and inept company. read more

Someone came out and said we had carpenter ants and it would be an additional $300 on top of what we pay quarterly to treat. We called someone else and got a second option turns out they are not carpenter ants. So we were lied to. That was the final straw we called to cancel. We believed we had already gone past our 12 month contract date well turns out the date on the first page of their contract isn't really the date our contract is over and there is a second place at the bottom that said 24 MONTHS. The offshore service team assured me they could "help me out by letting me cancel for $150". It was very upsetting to my siblings who escorted him off the property while he complained that they were chastising him. He filmed them and told them to enjoy the funeral. Excellent business model. Don't be fooled!! Their initial specialists are excellent, knowledgeable, and get you hooked. I had an issue with Black Widow Spiders. The initial guy who signed me up knew all about them. However, after that, it's just throwing money away. The technicians who come to your house have no clue why they are there, so the service is not specialized. They just spray randomly, complain if you give direction as to where you would like them to spray, leave in less than five minutes, and then charge you an insane amount. I called a year ago to cancel my account, was told that I had one more service on my contract and then the services would stop. They continued to come to my house and continued to charge me even after I had called to say that I no longer wanted services. It's robbery. They make it extremely difficult to cancel, and will not refund you if they come to your house after your contract is complete and you have already called to cancel. I am guessing that they make a lot of money through collections by continuing service after it is no longer wanted. I hope that a class action lawyer goes after them. read more

A guy came to my door offering a great rate a listed off all the neighbors around me they also service (who I don't know so totally don't know if that was even true), came back with someone else to do the work and I can see on my security cameras that literally all they did was use a long brush to sweep things down. Didn't spray at all, nothing. Froze our card hopefully before they charged it and are getting out immediately after all the reviews we're now seeing. I recently payed for their devices after being told my monthly price was locked in at 100$. The following month my checking account was charged 160$ for service I never received. I was signed up for a package deal that included spider control and mice traps. The technicians never went in the crawl space, mice and spiders are still a problem. When I called the office for a reimbursement, they claimed to have GPS proof that the technicians had done their job, and implied that the burden of proof was ours. I was visited by a door-to-door pest removal man in summer 2024 about spraying my home for spiders and other insects. He showed me the prices, which were fine, and said that to receive services I would need to sign up for a 2 year contract but that I could cancel for free after the first two services periods. He didn't even allow me time to read the contract. The services didn't even do what was promised (there were still loads of spider webs at my home after both times). I tried to cancel after the first couple months and was told there was a $281 fee just to cancel before the end of the service period. I was told if I did not pay they would send it to a 3rd party collection service. The sales guy clearly lied about their service provisions and the company took no responsibility. This company is deceptive and a scam. Two servicemen came door to door last fall offering services. They did a great job, and at the end they held up a phone and asked for a signature for payment and to receive a receipt. They did not say that I was signing a contract, let alone for 24 months, which I would never have agreed to since we were only in our condo for 1 year. I never saw any terms or conditions- this was completely deceptive- I had no idea I was signing an agreement. It took me 30 minutes of arguing back and forth with a customer service rep to cancel the contract, and even then they charged a $150 cancellation fee unless I showed proof of moving, which is ridiculous.
