The Big Spring Lodge is not a high-end luxury hotel, but for a mid-range hotel I felt extremely pampered. Cypriana handled my reservation, and took every effort to ensure I received the best room at the best rate possible for my stay. Julio at the front desk checked me in, and was truly welcoming as he explained all the necessary details of the hotel (how to access my room, how to link to the free wi-fi, breakfast room hours, etc.). My room was perfectly situated on the second floor--on the side opposite the highway, it overlooked the pool, and was away from the elevator and ice machine. The only noise I heard during my stay was from the folks using the pool, and since it closed at 10 pm that was not a problem. My room was quite large and well-furnished. In addition to the king-sized bed, I had an armchair with ottoman (very comfortable!), a work desk with ample plug-ins for devices, the bureau/entertainment center with plenty of drawer space, the TV, microwave, and refrigerator. (The refrigerator worked quite well, which I appreciated, as I was traveling with food for the conference in the morning.) I was able to access the free wi-fi without difficulty and it had good speed. I really liked the layout of the bathroom, with the toilet and shower in a separate room from the sink/vanity. There was ample counter space at the vanity, and plenty of places to hang towels. The coffeemaker area was well-stocked with teas, coffees, and such, and the individual soaps and toiletry items were appreciated. The shower pressure was excellent, and the thermostat for the A/C was easy to understand and operate. Everything was quite clean and smelled fresh. The breakfast area was stocked with all the usual offerings of hot items, waffle maker, cereals and breads, milk, juices, coffee and tea. It was good to have a hot and tasty breakfast to start my day! And the staff member overseeing the area ensured that all items were constantly available and the area was kept clean. I looked in on the fitness room, and it had several options for aerobic exercise as well as a weight machine. I appreciated the distilled water dispenser and filled my water bottle several times. I swam in the pool, and it was the perfect temperature and extremely refreshing! I did find my mattress to be quite soft, which is not my preference, but it was not uncomfortable. Also, some of the towels seemed to be getting a bit thin, but there were several to choose from. The hotel is in a good location, just off Hwy 60, and the property is well-lit and cared for. Aside from the road running behind the hotel, it's not a walkable area, but I felt safe. A car would definitely be necessary here. I only wish I'd had more time to spend at Big Spring Lodge! It will definitely be my choice on my next visit to Neosho or the nearby area! Thank you for a lovely visit!

They actually left out some cereal and milk on Saturday morning which was very nice. The room we stayed in was comfortable and fitted. There were some stains on the floor in various areas on the carpet. On the floor above us there seemed to be a track and field event being held because we heard constant running and jumping for hours on end throughout multiple times. The bathrooms by the lobby were broken, but the ones in the room worked fine. The people working here were all nice. The first set of keys they gave us only worked for the first day and they had to fix them the next day. Overall good stay for the cheap price.

The lady on the phone talked to me while I was meandering around the area in my truck on a dark road. Thank goodness!! She was so accommodating! For example: the number of nights I wanted to stay. Minimum is two nights. I was allowed to stay one. After I was assigned to one cabin, she allowed me to stay in a different cabin. Pulling up to park at my assigned cabin my headlights showed 3 deer!! Another times, I saw them from the balcony, several more deer. In fact, they seemed within an arm's reach. The balcony was clean with a covered table, hot tub and a means to charcoal meats. The grill utensils hung along the guard rails. Once inside, it appeared very clean. Every possible amenity was available (except robes or q-tips). Fireplace, cut wood, lighter, microwave, fold out couch, mini fridge, window unit, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, table and 2 chairs, tv, wifi, ceiling fan, towels (request extra if using the hot tub), shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Of course, a large cozy bed! The hot tub is small. My best guess would be that they can accommodate 4 small bodies max. Great jets and very hot water! The showers are so clean and sparkly! The shampoo, conditioner and body soap hang on the wall. All have a very mild scent. It was a perfect get away for me.

We went right at dusk, but I think if it had been truly dark, we could have seen the resort from miles away. ALL. THE. LIGHTS. (And, other decorations.) We were surprised by the amount of holiday cheer that was put up. Lots of inflatables (some quite unique). If you're in the area, I would certainly check it out. There's a donation box at the end if you're impressed.

The drapes were hung so beautiful and the black chandelier is gorgeous. My favorite part is the bathroom. It has pink floral wallpaper and it's so quaint. The whole room was filled with such detail and intention. Michael is such a wonderful cook. There were homemade scones and cinnamon rolls served with eggs, bacon or sausage and they also had little parfaits. I had to have everything because it smells so delicious! Totally worth it to stretch my waistline. Joana mentioned they plan to open a bed and breakfast in France! With the wonderful couple hosting, you know I'll be there! Learning about the history of the Victoria from Joana was surprising! I'll leave yall with a cliffhanger so you can go and check it out or go back and hear about it from Joana or Michael.

The B and B itself was welcoming, tastily decorated, cozy and comfortable. The pool and hot tub looked inviting although we didn't have time to try either. Killer breakfast in the morning with plenty of food. Fruit was the best and so fresh and delicious. Pastries were equally as fresh. The presentation and vibe of the dining area was nicely done. Breakfast order was cooked as requested and yummy. I am sorry we were able to spend more time, not only in the area, but at The Victoria. It takes a special couple to own and manage a B and B and Michael and Joana have it mastered to a fine art! You won't be disappointed to add this to your list of places to stay if you are in the vicinity.
