Talk about believing in your product--the owner of Ecology Solar came out to check in on our build in a Tesla powered by a solar installation on his garage(!)
On to the review! Like most people looking for solar in Denver, we got a number of quotes, and like most people we found the process incredibly time consuming and underwhelming. This is actually the second review I've written for Ecology, but the install was completed so quickly and perfectly I wanted to leave them another one now we are up and running.
The first thing you notice working with Ecology: These guys are just good people. Not the reason we chose their bid, but they were all super honest, talked to me like I was a real person, didn't make me feel stupid while explaining inverters, volts, watts--Just a small local company (I've heard they also do residential installs now) and everyone we know who has worked with them is a fan. We were worried about hail damage but they walked us through all the stats and showed us how multiple competitive panels and theirs are actually stronger than our current roof, so hail won't be a problem. We were assured by other companies that 100% net systems were the way to go but ecology was the only company to have the honesty to point out that with our heating in the winter and winter weather, 100% net wasn't quite possible. It was details like this that sold us more than anything else--Take note SolarCity!
We requested a quote for a solar panel install from ecology based on word of mouth but expected all along to go with a larger company. From the start they were different than the four other solar companies in Denver that we contacted: they replied the same day and we had quote right away (they actually came in under their quote too, which is some kind of first).
From start to finish they were SUPER low pressure on trying to make a sale unlike the other companies--which is good because there were a lot of people more important than me that needed to make the decision--and the guys at Ecology Solar even suggested multiple options for panels so we had a few choices in terms of panel efficiency and initial cost.
Finally, unlike some of the other quotes we had that had two or three month holds before we would see a project manager, they were able to book an install for us almost immediately. Super professional to work with, and when we had a permit issue that needed fixing due to a screwup on our side they pointed it out and fixed it for us without missing a beat.
I don't think I've ever written a review this long...but compared to the other companies out there and horror stories we've heard since, man these guys deserve every word of it. :) read more
