We invited Joseph Debus into our home for a full window replacement consultation. From the start, we were completely transparent about our budget--$25,000 to $30,000. Joseph told us that tilt-and-turn windows typically cost $2,500-$3,000 each, and highlighted a 45% discount--which would have put us within range for our 15-window project.
During the consultation, Joseph was personable and confident. He repeatedly emphasized how much he'd "love to work with us," compared buying windows to "buying a car," and bragged about the company's top Google and HomeStars ratings as proof of their integrity and service. Based on this, we truly believed we were dealing with a reputable, trustworthy professional.
But after the visit, Joseph sent us a brief, dismissive email saying he "couldn't come close to that price" and wouldn't even provide a quote. No numbers. No effort. Just a complete walk-away. This, after telling us how much he wanted to help us and earn our business.
Worse still, he took jabs at other companies we were considering, saying things like "I don't know what kind of window you'll get for that price" and warning us to "be careful" because "you get what you pay for." That kind of condescending, scare-tactic language isn't helpful--it's unprofessional and frankly insulting to customers trying to make informed, high-value decisions.
We came into this process in good faith, ready to move forward with a company we trusted. Joseph talked a good game, but delivered no follow-through, no respect for our time, and no professionalism in the end.
We'll be taking our business elsewhere--and we will absolutely not be recommending Joseph Debus or the company he represents, regardless of how many stars they've managed to collect online. read more
