We had a lovely evening at Acqua. We had made reservations, but we were a few minutes late. We choose a seat inside the restaurant as it was somewhat cool by the patio door, that was open. There is nice music playing at a comfortable volume. The room is nicely decorated and there is good spacing between the tables. It was very comfortable as the room was not noisey. We were given both a patio menu and the regular menu and we asked for the happy hour menu as there was still time left for happy hour. When we asked about the happy hour wine, one of the men, I believe he may have been the manager said that on Sundays they have bottles of wine for 50% off and he brought the list over to us. This was much better value than the happy hour wine by the glass. We shared an order of teriyaki chicken wings from the happy hour menu. It was a generous serving, and the wings were very good. For entrees my husband had the lamb shank with potatoes substituted for the risotto and I had sea bass. There was no problem with the substitution. My husband said his lamb shank was good. I enjoyed my sea bass. It was well cooked and there were 3 good sized shrimp with it. It was very tasty, but I would have preferred a bit less stock in the dish. For dessert we shared an apple passion fruit tarte that came with ice cream. The ice cream was a pleasant surprise as it was not mentioned on the menu. The tarte was good but we could not taste any passion fruit. It was a good evening. Service was good, the food was good and the room is very comfortable. It is good value for the money.

We had most of the happy hour menu today. Literally a dozen oysters at $1.50 each, the Calamari (which was delightfully garnished with cucumbers-that was refreshing), the Nachos, chicken quesadillas, hot, Cajun and teriyaki wings and drinks. They have a very good Happy hour menu and it actually goes until 6. I've also had good service here in the past with Victoria and I believe her name was Robin. Notice they have a Wednesday prime rib special. It has gone up in price since I last had it but I can tell you it is very good. Plated very well and comes with yorkshire pudding. Definitely a hidden gem and worth a stop by. The ambiance reminds me of a classic high end restaurant from the early 2000's or late 80's.

You're going to pay for it, but you'll seldom have a bad meal. Parking can be a challenge if you're new, but you'll figure it out, to the amusement of locals. Once parked getting there can also be entertaining, but again you'll figure it out. Entrance from street level is far easier. Inside the space is intimate and elegant, but very open with two floors and the entrance at the bottom making it three floors in all. Service is what JOEY is all about for us, well rehearsed and attentive using multiple staff. My Mediterranean salad was very tasty, the chicken was about the right portion, but I felt I should have got more of the kalamata olive, the gem tomatoes, roasted peppers, in the salad. At close to $30 it should be better. I'd have it again however. K's Hibachi Wings and salad also hit the mark. The salad was plentiful, but the lack of the selling items, the yummy bits, was noticeable. The wings were nicely cooked and they needed really nothing other than what they came with while hot. I'm a hot wing sauce guy so that is a high praise from me. For a place that has no view other than a Skytrain track they do a remarkable job of providing a memorable lunch or dinner experience.

They offered to split our lobster bisque so we could each have our own. We've also tried their tableside salad and desserts before and enjoyed the shows. My toddler wanted to get a closer look. The ambience is moody with high ceilings, low lighting, and plush seats. There is a constant buzz of conversations around us to provide a bit of intimacy and privacy to our conversations, while also allowing our toddler to be just a bit rowdy without feeling like we are disturbing the other guests. Of the food, I love the mushroom side with the truffle fondue. I wanted to dip everything in it as it was so flavourful and delicious. Complimentary bread with butter and blue cheese butter were offered to start. The brussel sprouts side was also unique with the added pistachios and a crisp for some crunch. The hearty mussels and clams starter were great for a rainy evening. Portion was enough as a meal by itself, too! There is a covered parking lot for those driving. I suggest making reservations as it can be quite busy!

Located at the Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby, free parking available in the casino lot across the street, but be warned that it's dirty as hell & smells terrible. Atlas Steak & Fish, is a supreme restaurant via looks, decor, lighting, seating, piano bar, table service, excellent waiters, food presentation & more. I ordered an Atlas Old Fashioned & let me tell you - WOW! Truly one of the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. (Bulleit 10yr bourbon, charred rosemary-maple syrup, aromatic bitters, cacao bitters served smoked over a 2" ice cube) The complimentary bread & butter was delightful. Our waitress Marina was fantastic. Our dinner consisted of Pan Seared Sea Scallops, Halibut & Lobster Risotto & the Tomahawk Pork Chop. Everything tasted splendid & knocked it out of the ball park. For dessert, get the Baked Alaska - it is absolutely sensational! The table service is spectacular - see my video clips. Make a reservation & get here ASAP! Hot tip alert - the dinning room temperature can be a bit cold. Ask for a blanket once you start freezing!
