Yippi ki yay
Neha A.

Service was average, cocktails were good, and the food was okay. We went during the Christmas pop up and the decor and ambiance was not anything to write home about. We ordered the christmapolitan which was great and the yippi ki yay which came in a cute mug. The mac and cheese was super basic and overpriced. Giving it 3 stars because for the whole experience it was definitely overpriced and underwhelming.

This is a solid cocktail place in Gastown. I've been here a couple of times and most recently came here on a Saturday night, and there was unexpectedly a table for 4 available. So no wait for my friends and me! The place has a great vibe and ambiance. Dim lighting, chill music (although sometimes a bit too loud) and great people watching. I've always had good service but from the other reviews, it looks like it can be a hit or a miss. As for cocktails - the clough daiquiri an easy go-to for me, but there are a lot of other options. My friends liked the Apiary and the Kermit. The only one I didn't like is Band on the Rum but that's probably bc I am not partial to IPA. Definitely worth dropping by for a cocktail, or two, or three.

Excellent place for unique hand crafted cocktails full of flavor and class!! Average of $15/cocktail. This is a small lounge so if you visit on a Friday/Saturday come early or expect to stand in line. We arrived around 9:30 and had to wait 20mins. The good news is, people probably don't spend too long here because of the price of the cocktails. Live music on Fri/Saturday nights. Food... small menu. Kinda weird. Hot dogs ect. There are three options for flat breads/pizza and only one with meat. I did the mushroom and added pepperoni (they call it "Jimmy style"). It was tasty.

Came here for a drink. Parking is pretty awful here, so hopefully you can find a free spot somewhere. The interior is dim. Really dim. Too dim, to be honest. I could barely read the menu. If you are the owner, please turn up the lights a bit. As I really didn't know what to try, I ordered the Apiary ($12). Maker's Mark with honey, some lemon and lime, egg white, bitters, and a chunk of real(!) beehive. Yes, you get to chew up some poor bee's house. It's so great to be human. You can either swallow the pieces, or roll it up into a cool wax ball. I chose the latter. Anyways, the drink actually is pretty neat. Lemon and honey are always a winning combo, and as I slowly sipped the cocktail, I could pick up a bit of herbal notes from the bitters. You really have to let this stuff roll around your tongue, and also pay attention to your sense of smell, to really appreciate this drink. To be honest, like many reviewers, I too thought that cocktails were "overpriced drinks for douches". What's so special about mixing some hard stuff together then cranking the price? After talking to the bartender here, wow, each one of these drinks has a story - you just have to take the time to find out. Not sure about other venues, but wow, this guy is knowledgeable. Again, my cocktail experience is limited, but based on what I know, this place is definitely something different.

I've got a confession to make: I used to despise -- nay, HATE -- the idea of cocktails. To me, they were nothing more than cheap liquor disguised by some kind of sacchariniciously sweet syrup-like concoction served in a wimpy glass by someone who would much rather just crack open a beer than bother slapping together a half-assed and weak excuse for a drink. Turns out those things I was sipping on weren't actually cocktails. Turns out real cocktails are the kind of magical potions you'd find in middle earth -- a little touch of this, a small dash of that, a twist of another thing, and suddenly I'm invincible. Now that I've been trained in the ways of the alchemist, I can appreciate the simple pleasure a place like Clough Club can bring. With three full pages of craft cocktails to choose from, the menu is a direct signifier of what they're attempting to accomplish with this space. The dark spirit heavy list is a smart and intentional choice, as the overall aesthetic of the 110 year old space has been designed to feel as though it has come from another era. Beautiful lighting, an old barn door, a secret back room -- sorcery, it is. Clough Club, what a pretty little surprise you are.

Love everything about this place. The dark atmosphere creates a mysterious vibe, the 110 year old space retained as much as possible. The back room which has an optical illusion that could trick some if too inebriated. The cocktail list and spirits selection is unique, complementing the tone of the space perfectly. But definitely get the Apiary: Bourbon, honey syrup, fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice, egg white, Fee Brother's walnut bitters, topped with a honeycomb on top. Yes, a honeycomb. It's amazing. Even the entrance to this place could easily be missed. But maybe that's a good thing, I wouldn't want people to be filling the space up as I will need my Apiary fix now and then.

Sure the vibe may be cool but the service brings this rating down... No wit, way down... We got there and probably waited at least 15-20 min while waiting for someone to acknowledge us or give us a menu.. We were so close to leaving. The drinks are ok, nothing spectacular but the bad service really ruined it. Value 3/5 Atmosphere 3.5/5 Service 1/5 Quality 2.5/5 10/20

The bartenders were rude and relentless. Refused to serve another drink after an accentual spoil and their attitude was not nice at all.

Good happy hour. Not sure about regular bar hours. Costco hotdogs crack me up available to add with any food item...

Third class place. They are just not professionals. Lady at the entrance misbehaved and returned out entrance fee and acting temperamental.

We got a table inside, and the music was extremely loud (think club vibes). The music was amazing, but for the wrong setting. Our group ended up texting one another as we couldn't hear ourselves. As for food I got some pasta and truffle fries. The pasta was incredibly bland, but the fries were delicious! Our server was also lovely - friendly and attentive.

Their food was really good, truffle fries are quite rich and flavourful, same with the beef carpaccio. I don't think the menu mentions it comes with these sliced toasted baguettes which were topped with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Service was slightly disappointing as our service was quite flat. Two instances, both not the fault of our server, but the bar had a friend a drink in a dirty glass, she ordered a clear drink but it was brown tinged, and had a weird flavour. Multiple people at the table tried it before we told the server that it seemed off. It was slightly off putting, but our server went back and got a new one for my friend. Second thing, they said they updated their POS so for some reason the person who had the most alcoholic drinks had been put in with a really high autogratuity, but it was strange because everyone else at the party had the regular autograt of 20% I believe and the only person who was drunk ended up getting 30% or something of the sort. Our server again, amazing and took care of it working with the manager who fixed it and came to apologize but the optics of that only happening to the one drunk person if the party, well you know. Kinda left an unsatisfactory taste in everyone's mouths regarding the service. Food was still great and so was our server, and the manager who came to personally apologize about the issue.

Everything on the HH menu is $5 3-6pm and all day Wednesday. We also got the meatball appetizer and the Baccala on toast. Bartender was friendly enough, gave some recommendations where to go for dinner. But then a very large party was being seated at the adjacent restaurant that the bar seems to also serve, and she got tied up pretty bad. We did see a couple come in and wait for a pretty long time and then just take off. And then the bar was closed for this private party at 7pm, and we had sort of planned on a nightcap after dinner in there. Fortunately we found PLENTY of awesome places to go after dinner so it was not an issue. While there during Happy Hour, the crowd was empty at first and the place filled up completely by the time we left. 30's and 40's crowd.

If you're looking for a comfortable, quiet, and cosy bar this is not the place for you. This is a place where Vancouverites get dressed up in their finest dark washed jeans. Am I being facetious - yes I am...but lets face it that's what passes for high fashion in this city. Celebrity sightings are not totally uncommon here, the servers are all friendly and quick to bring your drinks, and you're guaranteed plenty of beautiful people eye-candy. It's also a bar targeting a slightly more mature age group with their larger disposable income - so no annoying teeny boppers knocking back B-52's here and whoohooing it up. One shocking thing I discovered on my last visit to OPUS Bar, was that they aren't allowed to do "real" bottle service there. So if you order a bottle of Goose for the table, be prepared to have your server take it away and bring it back out only when requested or when glasses start to go empty - thankfully Champagne & Wine are exempt from this strange rule.
