This place is the rooftop bar for the W hotel Barcelona. You can get in even if you aren't staying at the hotel but be aware of a few things if you go: the night we went the place was PACKED inside. There was nowhere to sit down despite some wall seat areas, standing tables, and a long couch space in the center by some end tables. It was nearly shoulder-to-shoulder in a lot of standing areas by the window too. The bar area was also pretty populated, we didn't even try to get drinks cause the bartenders were quite occupied. Despite the tight area, the walls are glass with pano views of the ocean and Barcelona -- the view is *chefs kiss.* I was glad we went even just for that, but we did end up leaving about 5 mins later just because it was so crowded and we were already tired so we were hoping for more of a trendy low light bar vibe as opposed to a club vibe (this has more of a club vibe). It was low light with purple accent lights and a DJ playing upbeat music so it was a bit loud too, but if you're into that kind of scene this place is good for it. Be aware there was also a line to get in; after we finally waited through the line to get on the elevator to go up, there was another line at the entrance where the bouncer was. I don't remember the total length of time we waited, but it wasn't too crazy (def not longer than 20-30 mins or anything like that). Overall the vibe was not what we expected and we ended up not staying long because of that but if you like this kind of semi-club bar scene, then you might totally love this place! read more

Make your way up the 26th floor of the W hotel to experience an intimate environment along with views of the Barcelona beach and chill hip hop beats. It's too small to be a night club and too big to be a speakeasy, but just right for that one-and-done, soak in the views, and hit the port from that lack of oxygen up there. The cocktails were well crafted and the service was on point. Seating is limited for those that want to look outdoors, so make it in early. The have a menu that boasts expensive Chinese inspired dim sum, but there no sushi (damn). It looks interesting but after seeing the prices I took a hard pass. Views are great but the place needs some updating. They make it seem like it will be a lavish lounge and it doesn't meet those expectations. Additionally do not bring any shopping bags or book bags because they will not allow you to go upstairs. We waited for 2 hours for the lounge to open and when it finally did open we asked to go upstairs. The hostess said no because we had a bookbag. We emptied the small book bag and placed it in a shopping bag and went back and she still said no. It was a hassle because our hotel was far and we had waited for 2 hours. The W hotel staff intervened but they couldn't do anything since the lounge was privately owned and had their own policies. Honestly after getting to the lounge, it seemed it was not necessary for the hostess to deny us access earlier since we had a bookbag. Like others have said its a but run down. Floor needs to be painted for sure. Staff is very polite and attentive. We tried some of the snacks and they - while on the expensive side - where tasty. Also you can hang out in the club for free until 10pm then they go around polity and let you know you have to leave because the paying customers will be headed up shortly. read more

HACK - check out Eclipse on the 26th floor for 1 drinks and the view, then continue the night at the lobby bar or outside which we found much more comfortable (space, A/C, relaxed bartenders); we watched as everyone we saw upstairs have the same idea and go to the lobby bar as well. Also, when we ordered water upstairs the bartender immediately opened two large glass bottles for us. I said, "oh no, just regular tap please. We're ordering drinks too but just a little thirsty." He said, "bottled water is 5 euros. If you want tap you can drink from the toilette." So, he's really mean. From Locals to Tourists frequent here for the night-life and most importantly the Sushi that is served before the club scene begins at 11pm. The view speaks for itself you will be able to see the entire beach from the view it is a great view. The drinks are great the drink menu is great very simplistic and nice menu. The waitress are friendly and very understandable. The seating area before it turns into a club is very small though because it is 26 floors up in the sky so do expect to just magically get a seat. Very very exclusive and selective club located at the 26th floor of W hotel. The view on all Barcelona and Mediterranean Sea by night is just breathtaking. We were welcomed by an Apollon, then a goddess put us the "VIP" room bracelet, even the barman is such hot. Although the VIP lounge is only separated from the rest by a design long bank, making the space to dance not really comfortable. Better stay in the other side or the other room at the opposite, just crossing the corridor. Dj playlist of that day was ok, but nothing sensational. read more

Came here one night while in Barcelona because I had heard good things. This bar is on the top level of the W hotel and has amazing views but it was dark so you could not see that much. The W hotel itself looked amazing and I would definitely love to stay there! It has its own little beach area which looked amazing. Back to Eclipse, I am not sure if it was because it was off season in Barcelona (February) but I was not impressed with the vibe here. It looked like only half the roof top was open which I get since it was not a prime time to be in Barcelona but the crowd was all over 50 and the music selection was subpar. I ended up having one drink and leaving because I could definitely not party here. I would have rather stayed downstairs at the lounge area in the hotel! I hope to come back to this W hotel during the prime season in Barcelona and I am sure it will be a totally different vibe in Eclipse! read more

This is the w hotel rooftop bar with an amazing view of the beach and the city of Barcelona albeit somewhat mediocre interior relative to other w hotel bars. The cocktails were creative, refreshing and delicious at standard w hotel prices. The DJ (on Thursday night) was spinning dance mixed with old beats like Madonna and MJ--probably could use a bit more hip hop especially as the crowd filled in. The W does so many things well, but this bar fails in many ways. Yes, the service is good and the drinks are inventive, but the music is often too loud, the space too cramped, the decor too dated, and the crowd too...well, cheesy. They act like they don't speak English as soon as you want to ask them what the issue is. The Barcelona branch of the popular London bar, Eclipse is a place to experience at least once. Being on the 26th floor of the beautiful W Hotel, the view is truly breathtaking. Even the bathrooms offer an amazing view of the port. The cocktails are delicious too- the famous Watermelon Martini, as well as other delicious cocktails such as the Pink Floyd. The bar is trendy and glamorous, something that is rare to find in Barcelona. However, the place is quite small, and often crowded- it's quite hard to find an empty table. Half of the bar is usually closed for private parties, and the only part that is open is very small, as well as loud. If you come after 10pm, there is usually a very long line to get in, as well as guest-lists etc. Personally, I'd recommend coming early, having a drink or two, and then heading downstairs to the W poolside and lobby bar- where the drinks are equally delicious, and the atmosphere is much quieter and more relaxed. read more

Eclipse looks very nice inside and has a pretty great view. The hosts and servers are very welcoming, attentive and give great service. The food on the other hand, gave myself and 4 friends severe food poisoning. We ate at their brunch on Sunday, the day we left Barcelona for a 24 hour flight home. We all went our separate ways, had a meal at different locations for lunch and went home. All of our flights home were absolutely miserable due vomit and diarrhea for the entire duration of our trips. Based on how things were set up, there is no way we could have gotten sick from different things. I called Eclipse to tell them what happened and the host, again, was very kind. She apologized and informed me the manager would reach out to "apologize and offer compensation". Seeing as how all 5 of us had to call out of work for the entire week and go to the hospital to get treated, we thought this compensation was more than earned and much appreciated. When the manager (Conor Cushnahan) responded, he basically told me there was no way we could have gotten food poisoning there and they wouldn't be helping me much further. I informed him of what his employee told me about compensation, he said I was lying and no one ever told me that. This brunch cost 70$ per person, mind you. Over 400$ total to get severe food poisoning, get called a liar and told to tell my story to someone who cares. Hopefully Yelp readers will care and not waste their money or time at Eclipse. read more

Eclipse night club and bar. Well let's start by saying its popular for those who have a lot of money as its in the fanciest hotel on Barcelona's main beach, the W Hotel. It's on the entire 26th floor and my god the views you see are amazing. You can see right over the city and sea. It's spilt into two bar areas, one faces the city and the other faces the sea. Of course when it's not busy during weekdays only the one facing the city opens. I was staying in the hotel for a few nights and on all nights there was a private section cornered off in the bas. Which wasn't a problem still plenty of room for you to enjoy. I'll be honest the better looking you are the quicker you got served. So took a very long time for me to get a drink, Annoyingly but with a good hard Irish dirty stare you get served at some stage ;) There is a dj in both bars I guess making it into the nightclub. The bar has a massive selection of cocktail drinks as you can imagine for the clientele they attract in such a $$$ exsepneive place, not many were drinking beers just mainly cocktails. Overall I enjoyed it. The small dance area in each bar let's say is the size of a big double room that's a 1/5 the size of the bar. If you are in the area you may aswell go in if even just for the view. Just dress right as those not staying in the hotel have to go through a wait-in-the-queue system. read more

Definitely not as good as I thought. The drinks are OK but the cocktail menu is only 15 cocktails long, and none of them are really exiting. The 2 drinks I took were good, especially the milano. I think that the decoration is nice on the whole but details, as the white tables or the sofa should be changed - being wear out and not really trendy. Trendy club on the top floor of Hotel W, it's divided in two parts: one with seats and tables, more for people willing to drink and chat, and one with the dancefloor. Music in the tables area is as loud as in the other part though, making it hard to talk with others. Being on the 26th floor you can imagine that the view on the city is beautiful! If I could give zero stars in service I absolutely would. You have to wait in line to get to the elevator that takes you upstairs and when you get there the rudest woman sits there and turns people away based on their attire due to their dress code policy. I was in a sundress and sandals and my boyfriend in jeans and loafers and we were turned away but she then let 5 men in who were all in shorts and T-shirts. The women then proceeds to sit there and discuss patrons of the hotel with other employees. For a five star hotel they are definitely a zero star in service and I will never stay in or recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

At the top of the W hotel in Barcelona the views are unrivalled! The drinks are pricey and staff a bit rude....it does get very very busy though. We were on a hen and we had our own cordoned off area and the champagne and grey goose just kept coming!!! To be honest when you're with friends celebrating it doesn't matter where you are. When you think about a 5-star hotel bar you think about excellent service and you go there prepared to pay for a drink but expecting excellent service, but this is totally opposite to what I found there. There was only one bar attender and it took 30 minutes to get a drink. After waiting for half an hour, the bar attender decided to serve two guys that just arrived and when I told him that I was first on the cue he answered me in very aggressive way. I decided to leave and I went to the reception to write a complain, they did not care at all about what happened and they could not answer me in Catalan so I tryed to talk to them in English but they where not even able to speak English. Over all, it was a really bad experience, if you are a tourist in Barcelona, as a local, I recommend you to look for little bars in the Baceloneta instead. DO NOT GO THERE it is a waste of time and money, plus nobody from Barcelona goes to this bar. read more
