Buffalo Echo Chicken Sandwich
Ellena K.

Nice little place downtown! Great sports atmosphere for watching badgers or packers. Staff were super fun and friendly. We had the chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries, and cheese curds. The chicken sandwich and fries were good, nothing special. The cheese curds were also OK, it seemed like they might not have been fully melted. Their patio looks beautiful in the summer so I'll have to come back and visit!

I have always wanted to try Echo Tap, and it did not disappoint! We were seated right away and the food came out in a timely manner. I wasn't too hungry so only ordered the mini corn dogs, but would definitely come back to try other things on the menu. They have a nice option to turn almost any sandwich on their menu into a wrap if preferred. When the weather is nice they also have an outdoor patio decorated with plants that I'd like to come back and see!

2pm after the Capitol Farmer's market and their crowd had died down a bit but servers were starting to get their swing back. Ours in particular knew about the wait and asked if we wanted to place food orders at the same time, which was appreciated. She brought us a pitcher of water before drinks were ready at the bar, which was nice in this sunny day. But after our delicious food arrived, it took us over 1 hour to get the check, which I ended up tracking her down for. And then took her another .5 hours to get back to us. By the time we left, our takeout needed to be thrown out (we don't like waiting much more than an hour after it's brought out). Very disappointing. Food was amazing enough that we'll be back to try this place again with another server.

Echo Tap is a bustling sports bar at Bedford and Main St. They were quite busy when we had a late afternoon pizza there. Service was fast and friendly even though they were packed. The pizza was quite good as well. The building is either fairly new or newly remodeled - so very up-to-date. Madison has so many awesome bar & restaurant options and Echo Tap is on the good side of the list.

My Dinner. Burger and fries.

The food was so good. I had a burger with fries. Plus a Coke. The service was great. The bartender got my order done right away. Now the time is 8:00 on a Saturday night. With most of the students done the bar is empty. Probably would have got a 3 out of 5 if the bar was crowded. I can't watch sports at home sometimes. The bar makes it easy to watch. Of course this bar doesn't get the full 5 out of 5 because I hate the smell of beer. I don't drink but the food and ambiance is great. It's nice to go from a kitchen at work to this small bar that's still around. I just wish that I could have someone to talk to other then random people at the bar. I will be back again.

Spectular colors to enjoy while dining at Echo Tap!

Awesome service plus a gracious waiter even holds the door to customers entering the patio and delicious food plus beautiful flowers decorating the patio area!

They have a Friday fish fry!! We sat on their back patio last night, and they had the lights turned on + a heater if it's needed. Great casual vibe

Jacey's White Pizza-really yummy

Fine place to eat and drink. Our group had a Cheeseburger, Tuscan chicken sandwich and thin crust Jacey's white pizza. Fries a bit underwhelming but everything else was tasty. Service average. Good drink specials. A bit loud but that's to be expected in a sports bar type place. Would like to come back when weather is nice and we can sit outside.

Players Sports Bar & Grill is a fun, casual, cash ONLY, typical Wisconsin neighborhood dive bar nestled in the Atwood neighborhood of Madison, WI. They have a great beer selection, classic bar games, pool tables, and ping pong! This place has plenty of tvs to catch your favorite sports! It was super busy when we arrived on Wednesday night. It seemed to be a diverse crowd of neighborhood locals, blue collar, younger folks, and just people having a great time! It's a great place when you are craving greasy, fried, delicious bar food, and snacks! They serve not only burgers, but cheese curds, wings, and lighter far like salads. They need a round of applause for coming up with some of the tastiest unique burger creations ever such as their Poker Ho Burger, Lotza Motza Burger, and Players Burger. My husband and I were blown away by the burgers! My favorite is their Big Daddy Burger with a side of onion rings and my husband's favorite is their Lotza Motza Burger with fries! The Big Daddy Burger is made with Bacon, Ham, Swiss & American Cheese with spicy garlic mayo. It is served hot, made fresh, juicy, made with a huge 1/2 pound well seasoned patty! The side of onion rings takes it to the next level being fried hard, crispy, golden brown, and hot out the grease! The Lotza Motza burger which is a super fun burger made with Deep Fried Mozzarella Sticks, Vito's garlic sauce, pepperoni & Mozzarella Cheese. Its like eating an appetizer and burger all in one! Players Sports Bar is your casual dive bar hooking you up with delicious bar food but don't expect sit down type of service or what you would expect for service at a restaurant. You have to order at the bar. Players Sport Bar is a great option if you are looking for a fun, casual dive bar serving up delicious rememberable burgers!

In prior review so many options all within walking distance in downtown Madison. Right off loved the vibes, old school vibes, downstairs area (area checked out), restaurant level two levels, one nice spacious car area, and other section more dining room. All around one thing common lots of widescreens. NFL back weekend games and also big college town University of Wisconsin. It can get loud and crazy. The food naturally had to get some cheese curds. Out of the two spots just as solid. Not the best of the two. I ended up having Thai Chicken pasta the first time carbload night before the race. Solid pasta dish. Nice hearty, nice flavor, and nice portion. The second time went with Korean rice bowl. Another nice hearty and refreshing dish. The service was friendly, attentive, and all smiles!

Not to turn anyone off from checking it out, but think bougie club house. Exposed brick and wood paneling, bar and high top seating, a few little coves with couches and golf/football/soccer (strong golf theme) simulators ($45/hour) and a private area with another simulator ($100 room fee, $200 food/drink minimum). We came for drinks, but we did order the Bacon Wrapped Dates (not stuffed with cheese but comes with a delicious red pepper purée) and Buffalo Chicken Dip (served with bread & tortilla chips for those of you who are gluten sensitive/free). Fair prices and decent food, which is the opinion of myself and two other foodies. A lot of potential, but they're just starting out. I'm excited to see what the future holds for them. Also, if you get a chance, grab a chat with Adam!

Plenty of seating at the bar--along with a lounge'y space with a cute backdrop for photo-ops! I recall four beers on tap, and no drink specials. However, the menu did have a variety of "upscale" bar food! We ordered a fair amount but I only remember eating the curds (3/5) and fried green beans (5/5), which was my fave! PROS: I loved that we were able to try a variety of activities at our own pace! Each area had seating, enough for 6-7 people (sofas or bar stool/counter). Alcohol wipes were available. Music level was good and lighting slightly dimmed--great ambience! We got to chat with Collin (the owner) about his vision and learned that the simulators can pretty much play anything! This means events held here can be both adult AND kid-friendly--woo hoo! Just try not to bring a stroller here, as it's on the second floor with steep steps. Looking forward to more events here...and to what becomes of the outdoor space! CONS: We came on a Tuesday, so there was only one person working the bar + kitchen. Service was a slow as it got busy, and later into the night. There are only two private restrooms (which were nice and clean!). I can see this being a problem, especially for a place that can hold 100+ people. Will be back for more indoor fun!

First sip smooth, not a hint of bitterness, drank easy all the way down, light foam coating most of the empty glass. Just how you'd draw it up. Fluke? The menu is filled with elevated pub food, a few classics and then a few twists on those very classics. Come hinge, because the menu is carb-driven, so be ready to eat! To start, we went with the poutine, because why not! The fries were crispy, gravy was velvety and the curds were firm, yet melty enough for a good cheese pull! For our mains, we both went sandwiches. I went with the Celtic Burger, which is their standard burger with added caramel iced onion, whiskey bacon jam, Irish cheddar and a garlic aioli. The burger was good and cooked well, but it was less impressive than I expected given all the goods they added to it. While the aforementioned additions sound like a flavor bomb, it was still fairly one note in overall flavor. It was still tasty, but again, not as expected. My buddy went with the corned beef sandwich. He enjoyed it, no major issues! I did appreciate that exchanging fries with fried curds was an option, especially after loaded up on fries as a starter. The curds were well fried, pillowy and quite tasty. Perfect side for sure! In addition to the food, they are known for their bar offerings so you know we had to grab a few cocktails! I went with the Golden Dew and my buddy the Old Fashioned. Golden Dew was delightful, however the old fashioned was a bit sweet, but that's possibly the brandy. Service was great. We walked in and hit the wait list, however was able to scoop up a few seats at the bar before our table was ready. The bartenders were friendly, helpful and an overall joy to interact with. Overall, definitely a fan of The Coopers Tavern! When back in Madison, I would certainly swing by again!

While we were very happy with our enormous half-pretzel and my partner said Prost made the best beer cheese sauce she'd ever tasted, our mains were kinda lackluster. My partner remarked that the Beyond Bratwurst merely tasted like breakfast sausage. The sauerbraten was just some plain pulled pork with a scant drizzle of sauerbraten gravy, nothing like the well-marinated real deal. The potato pancake wasn't really pancake-y, more like some glorified shredded hash browns. The red cabbage was kinda bland. The pickled veg that accompanied the sausage plate looked and tasted fresh and crisp, with a nice hint of warm spice present in the carrots. The space is a pleasing reuse of an old deconsecrated church, with the requisite beer hall-style dining benches. Sports play on the televisions in the main dining hall and above the bar. In summary, I guess you gotta know what Prost!'s strengths are. Their pretzel is epic, but most everything else seemed to fall short. If you're there just for the beer, you can't go wrong.
