First of all they have to take a ferry to our island which is inconvenient for most businesses from off the island we understand that. The issue stems from their charges they use to come to the island. They charge a flat rate of $250.00 to come here for every customer they have that day they will only come over when they 2 or more appointments. The standard going rate from every other contractor is the cost of the ticket which is $33.00 or up to $75.00 per customer. We had them come and service our 5 year old mini-split it wasn't cooling back in mid September of 2025. We are snow birds and left the island the week after they were here to go to AZ for the winter. We came back on Memorial Day 2026 when about 3 weeks later we tried to use the AC but it still wasn't working. We called Sunset Air back to have fix what they hadn't fixed before. Their charge for the repair in September was $1,219.00. When we called them back they said it would be another $250.00 for the ferry ride plus a $250.00 service charge just to look at it! The repairman was average at best the 1st time he didn't even put it back together with all the screws I had to do it myself. We will be calling the Attorney General to log a complaint about their shady practices. Sadly, Bill Cunningham

It was bumped up against a copper wire and literally melting. He quickly repaired that, explaining as he went along. Discovered some other glitches and needed to come back a second time, in 2 days with an ordered part that he replaced. Now the heater is working correctly and that was well worth the money. I liked the office staff and their excellent communication skills. Highly recommend their service.

He finally repaired it but it looks horrible. Moreover, the HVAC Minsplit system they installed contstantly makes loud noise. The original guy who came to set up the installation assured me they would install the unit behind the guest bedroom so that noise would be limited to my bedroom, but the installers insisted upon placing it behind my bedroom so I listen to what sounds like a jet warming up (constantly). Moreover, the minsplit unit in my bedroom is loud with constant LOUD clicking, popping, and humming. And aesthetically, the crew insisted upon installing the unit on the side of my home rather than underneath as their initial consultant assured me it would be, so the lines run directly along and under my bedroom window. While the crew was nice and friendly, they did install and run. At the very end just before leaving the one (less friendly of the two) tech handed me the remote and a manual and he demonstrated a few basic buttons to push, but this remote is a nightmare. Just google "How to operate Hisense remote" and you'll get countless examples but none that match your remote. And when you send a note to Alpine asking for a link you get no response. Anyway, don't use Alpine and above all don't let them or anyone else talk you into installing a Hisense HVAC Minisplit. Sorry, but if your installation is anything like mine--you'll never get a decent night's sleep again. --Sleepless in Tumwater

Then Brent and his team came right out the next day. What I like the most is the promptness! When they tell you a time the technicians show up at that time and get straight to work. I appreciate the 3 team members working together to take equipment out, explain what they are doing and test everything for quality. The photos helped to ease my mind and not charging me for attic patching saved us an unnecessary bill. Now I feel like our home is ready for the next decade with an upgraded Trane furnace and AC system. Thanks for all the great work.

The technician turn on the air conditioning and went to the back yard. And come back to me said the compressor is toasted. The sound for that compressor is not right bra bra bra. I know the compressor.is working. The compressor run for 30 second and shut down wait for 2 minutes will start again and it shut down after 30 seconds, and it has good pressure inside the compressor. I paid $130 for that useless system diagnosis report. I have another guy come to check. The guy went up to attic, then he find that wet sensor is dead. That is the problem, $60 fixed. After we change it. The air conditioning is good now. I would never call this company again.

We were given a detailed estimate with options from which we could select the work to be done . We did hire them to complete the following work : replace and upgrade our 40-year-old electrical panel, add several outlets to the outside of our home, correct the GCFI outlets inside our home. While doing the work in our attic, they found mold high up on our roofline and snapped a photo for us-saving us from that mess on many levels. A crew of four qualified hard-working electricians were at our home for two full days. Following the work, the cleanup was impeccable. They left it better than they found it.. A bonus was that they made all the arrangements with Puget power, including a follow up inspection. We are CONFIDENT our home is electrically safe and sound. They were very detailed in their estimate, which was fairly priced. Did I mention how polite and patient they were with our many questions? We would hire them 100 times over for any future electrical work, but I think we're good now! The owners have high expectations of their employees and the work they do, and their work is guaranteed.

We have a 39 year old cement tile roof. Tiles break once and awhile due to wind debris or ice build…read moreup. It is a life time roof but things do happen The other day I noticed a tile with a large piece missing. Why we did not have a rain leak is a head scratcher. I called A-1 as they are one of the few roofers who know how to walk on and repair a tile roof. Many make that claim. Most are clueless. They came out the next day and a man named Tom Hall went up and fixed it in minutes, free of charge (a very small job but important one)! He also pointed out, with photos, a number of broken tiles that were in need of repair. I was not surprised. We agreed to have these repairs made and, on the basis it was compeleted before the end of August and the start of the "monsoons". He said he'd work us in between the bigger jobs they had. A day later, he indeed worked us in long before my August dead line. The roof was fixed and is now "tight". The response to the initial repair and the larger repair was much quicker than I anticipated. I also felt condifent in Tom's advice and comments about what needed to be done. No hard sell. Just got it done.

They destroyed my flower bed and all the potted plants around my house there's roofing debris on every plant. my lavender is squished I had to completely take out my Veronica and mums. They broke branches off the tree next to my drive way then shoved the branches back up into the tree as if I wouldn't notice. There was hot Cheetos in my flower bed. They parked on my grass. Even though we parked in the street for them. My whole garage is covered in sawdust and nails my laundry room is in my garage so I have to rewash all that laundry. I was helping a friend out holding some of her kitchen items and now she has to toss all that stuff. And to top it all off it's the next day at 5pm and the owner/manager hasn't shown up yet even though he was contacted this morning.
