High quality prepackaged sushi with unbeatable prices. It's more of a mini mart for Japanese lunch, drinks, and snacks. There's no place inside to eat but it's the perfect place to stop by if you're wanting to have a picnic and grab something quick. 10/10 taste and freshness.

Seaweed Salad, Salmon Roll

My friends and I stopped by this to-go sushi shop on a weekday afternoon, and it was packed! Luckily we ordered our snacks and lunch in advance, and it was ready for pickup by the time we arrived. I tried thier seaweed salad, which tasted fresh and had a good balance of sweetness and sesame flavor. I also tried their salmon roll, which was simple yet well done! The salmon tasted fresh and the rice was nicely seasoned. This was a solid, casual sushi spot!

I'm always happy to make the drive or bike ride out to ebiko! I'm not exactly sure how I discovered this place but it's a corner store with Togo sushi options and a shelf full of snacks. Their sushi is not the typical Togo or gas station sushi. It's actually so unbelievable how fresh and good it is. I crave this almost all the time when I want something convenient and fresh. Best picnic food! :)

Nomnomnom! What more can I say that hasn't been said? Super fresh fish - buttery smooth and omakase quality TO GO! Quick and easy - walk up - get what you want - pay - and enjoy! Salmon aburi was so yummy - hamachi rolls - inari - and even grabbed a bag of chips! I will say the price isn't cheaper than what a full sit down restaurant would charge - but in a setting like this where there wasn't "service" - it saves on the tipping. Best part is you can easily have sushi at the park or the lake or wherever you want!

Unbeatable prices at restaurant quality. Dropped in on weekday afternoon right before closing and there was a crowd that followed picking fresh selection for evening dinner or snack. Luckily the salmon aburi was freshly made and the rice texture was perfect when I got home to consume. Tried the omakase nigiri set in the car and the rice fell apart. I've should have waited for the rice to warm up to room temperature but couldn't help myself. The freshness is amazing and every bite melts in my mouth. Near the counter/cashier there is a condiment/utensil area. Condiments include containers of wasabi/ginger mix, soy sauce, napkins and chopsticks. The chopsticks are pretty high quality in comparison to what I normally get in a restaurant. There are beverages and snacks available but didn't see pricing on those items. A bench is outside if decided to eat immediately but there is no other seating available. Parking is street and might be a little difficult depending on timing. Area feels super safe since it is next to Piedmont. I definitely would drop by when in the area. Kinda wish I had one in my neighborhood but lucky I have one in the East Bay.

What a clean, quaint, quick grab and go sushi spot! This is a gem for well-priced and quality sushi. The seared salmon and chirashi bowl were definitely my favorite. We got those two, assorted nigiri, and seaweed salad - all of that for $55! I'm already planning my next trip back :)

I was craving sushi for lunch and decided to DoorDash Ebiko. My order arrived within a few minutes and the food was fresh and appetizing. I tried the salmon avocado roll which was held together well and had a good ratio of salmon to avocado. It tasted great! The tsukemono had 4 different varieties that I was able to try with my meal. I loved the sweet, sour, and vinegar elements of each. The seaweed salad was both sweet and refreshing, which paired well with the varying flavors of my meal. The miso soup kit is perfect for one person and very convenient. Once you add hot water, the miso paste dissolves nicely. It was very comforting and simple. I will definitely be trying this place again!

I loved everything from here!!!! The best sushi takeout spot in Oakland FOR SURE. Affordable and high quality! Ideal for a picnic too. Minimal takeout spot with no seating. Snow Crab California Roll (4/5): Not too much mayo. Avocado was fresh too! An elevated cali roll for sure! Yummy~ Omakase Nigiri (5/5): YESSSS. Please buy. So worth the price! The scallop and fatty tuna were incredible especially. I loved every bite of this and can't wait to come back. Rice was a little hard, but makes sense considering it was in the fridge.

Got the chefs omakase, seared salmon, toro bowl and yellowtail roll?. It is designed as a grab a go type of vibe similar to aji Kiji in a way located on a busy piedmont street. The quality of the fish was extremely good and it was sooo tasty. I'd come back definitely to try some other items but my favorite was definitely the omakase one. Personally think you can skip out on the toro rice bowl as it kinda tasted like leftover pieces? A bit fishy taste but everything else was very delicious and high quality

I'm so glad we stumbled upon Ebiko! We visited on a Monday around 12 and found it pretty busy. I'd recommend arriving early, since they seem to have many regulars. The interior was small and looked almost like a convenience store - all to-go, with a sushi fridge and a pantry area of imported snacks. I chose the Salmon Aburi Nigiri and Omakase Nigiri, as well as a bottled Iced Green Tea. The bench outside was occupied, but there were a few more down the block or across the street. The sushi was incredible! The Salmon Aburi was easily my favorite - super soft, practically melted in my mouth. The Omakase Nigiri was also amazing and so fresh. Totally worth the price!

Walked by Ebiko and had to stop and browse. Such a fresh selection of prepared sushi, sashimi and mochi. Staff is very friendly and let me know that the incredible platters can be ordered for pickup with just a few hours notice. I'll definitely have to come back.

Do you guys open for business on Thanksgiving Day pls?

We are closed at all locations for Thanksgiving day. I’ve just updated our hours. Thank you

Can you prepay when you order? Is there curbside pick up since parking is hard in that area? We really limit our exposure to others since we are high risk for Covid. Thanks

Yes, you can prepay through their website and select a pickup time. Unfortunately I'm not sure if they have curbside pickup but parking wasn't too difficult when I went near closing time. The pickup was quick/easy and the employees at the time were… Read more

I remembered a place on Jackson Street that I had gone to 5 years ago that had a tremendous selection - looked it up on Yelp and it was no longer on Jackson, but was listed in Castro Valley. So we went thought we'd go by and give it a try. Great decision! The "new" store in Castro Valley is much brighter, cleaner, nicer than the old location. I think the old location had more stuff from Eastern Europe, but this new location seems to have a broader selection, with more stuff from Western Europe and the Middle East. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful - always willing to answer questions and even give tips on how to use the products that they sell. And his recommendations have been great - we asked him about which tahini and zaatar to get (they have many different brands/types of each...) and the ones he recommended have been way tastier than any of the brands that you find in most markets. Especially good was his recommendation on lebnah - he said that the brands they carry are all good, but they have some that they package in-house that was special. I tried it - it was less expensive than the other brands, but was the very best lebnah that I have ever tasted! Richer, creamier, with just the right amount of tang. Wonderful stuff! Anyway, Crossroads is a nice, clean, well-lit place with a great selection of unique products, and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. Well worth a trip!

The price is reasonable for the variety, for the bay, and the sushi is fresh and tasted great. The restaurant itself is elegant and cute. Highlights for me were all the Japanese fish, which are specially curated and killed with a technique to reduce fish stress. The taste was close to what I got in Japan, and each coming piece was exciting. The sashimi courses at the beginning were also amazingly crafted, especially the first tuna course. Where it lost a star for me was 1) the amount of food was quite small. In total it was about 17 courses, but each is essentially one small piece of sushi. They did give a large hand roll at the end but I still didn't feel full. I did order one supplemental piece, but the other two options weren't interesting to me. Anyway for $300 a head after tip and tax I was not expecting to want to grab another bite after. 2) you have to go to some sketchy pizza place next door for the bathroom. What makes this place so special is their fish supplier, famed Japanese fish concierge Hiroshi Hasegawa. He's known for sourcing rare and unusual fish that are rarely sold commercially, and he sometimes even free-dives to catch them himself. Sushi Salon is currently the only restaurant in the United States that he supplies, which means you truly won't get this exact experience anywhere else. The rice alone deserves its own praise. The vinegar they use is only supplied to a select few in the U.S., and in my opinion, it was the best sushi rice I've ever had. I could honestly eat the rice on its own. The space is incredibly intimate, with only seven seats per seating at 5:00pm and 7:30pm. Watching each course being prepared right in front of us made the entire experience feel personal and immersive. Every piece of fish was excellent, but the standouts for me were the saba, uni, medai, ninjin, and kegani. Joji Nonaka and Anna Osawa were wonderful hosts. They engaged with guests throughout the evening and shared thoughtful insights and history behind the fish and techniques, which made the meal even more meaningful. Parking was surprisingly easy with street parking nearby, though the surrounding area feels a bit gritty, so I wouldn't leave anything visible in your car. At the end of the omakase, you're given the option to order additional pieces or specialty items not included in the set menu. I highly recommend taking advantage of that and trying as much as you can. Overall, if you're looking to splurge on a truly unique and elevated omakase experience, Sushi Salon is absolutely worth it. It's special, intimate, and unforgettable.
