Vanilla Bean with vegan caramel drizzle and white chocolate chips (regular size)
    Alana C.

The ice cream offerings here are good. I've tried several flavors now like salted caramel, dark chocolate and vanilla bean. They have all tasted like healthier versions of ice cream, like soft serve "nice"-cream, if you've ever tried that. Or like ice-milk. The vegan caramel sauce is okay but tastes a tick off from normal/traditional caramel sauce. Perhaps more bitter, and less buttery? I do enjoy the wide assortment of toppings to choose from. Our child also appreciates the crayons and paper to color on. There's plenty of room to sit and a bathroom down the hall with code. We usually stop by when lunching across the street at PDX Sliders, but I wouldn't make a special trip just for this ice cream. I much prefer other ice cream shops to this one because the flavors are good but not great, and there hasn't been a WOW factor in any of the items I've tried.

Pistachio shell on a split of vanilla bean and French vanilla

Wow it has been YEARS since I've had Eb & Bean. I no longer live in the northwest, but we were home for thanksgiving and were just wanting something sweet after dinner. My fiance typically does the chain froyo places, but I wanted to show him how the locals do it, and I took him here for an elevated frozen yogurt experience. He was surprised at how few flavors they had and was slightly confused why I brought him here- until he got to sample it. We tried the Vanilla Bean and the French Vanilla and when he tasted it- he fully trusted the experience. I was so impressed by the quality of such a simple flavor- not the artificial vanilla he is used to having but a very high-quality vanilla bean yogurt. We wanted to keep the toppings simple so the yogurt could speak for itself, so we went with the pistachio hard shell- WHAT A BANGER. WOW. I hope they keep this one around permanently. It was so perfectly nutty, the hard shell was nostalgic, and it was a big wow from both of us. My fiance was a changed man and as soon as he finished, he said, "we will absolutely be coming back again" (which is a big deal).

All these years later, and this is still a favorite spot. Since 2020, we have lost so many iconic Portland spots, and I'm so grateful we still have Eb & Bean. Their attention to detail and dietary needs is amazing and greatly appreciated. The Marionberry pancake is one of my favorite flavors. My SIL got the garden mint, another of my faves, and my partner got his go to Valrhona Dark Chocolate. We love the little patio out back during the spring and summer. But this place is a hit no matter the season.

Salty pistachio with caramel & tom bumble crumble was great! Also tried the staff pick: salty pistachio, chocolate magic shell, honey & toasted coconut.

Eb&bean has been my friends and I favorite hang out spot since high school! Kind of pricy but it's a nice little treat for once in a while. I really enjoy the variety of fro yo flavors and toppings option, just ask for samples to try when you see a new flavor on their menu they tend to switch it up monthly I believe. Will continue to be back :) Note: join their reward program to earn points for free treat!

So good! The froyo and toppings were amazing! The service was excellent!! The lady at the counter was very nice and when I said I wanted a little bit she gave me a little bit. The ambiance was good. It was quiet, chill, and welcoming. The music was not that loud compared to other restaurants. I'm really impressed, highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

It's been FAR too long since I had Eb and Bean. But still it's my favorite frozen treat. I love tbag I can always rely on delicious non-dairy flavors and vegan toppings!! We went pretty late on a Saturday, arriving around 9pm but there was no line and in all fairness it was pretty cold out so most sane people don't want anything frozen. But I love that it's a super nice treat that isn't crazy filling or heavy. Now that it's back in my mind, and at the front, I envision more winter frozen treat days!!! In the summer it's a busy spot, usually with pretty good lines but they're worth it. It's super chill (pun intended) inside and not loud except for the buzz or conversation. Winter has it SUPER quiet but I don't mind it. As long as I get to enjoy!!

Frozen yogurt is a very nostalgic treat for me. It was all the rage about a decade ago so I appreciate spots like Eb & Bean that keep froyo around with an artisanal twist. I appreciate that they provide some recommendations of flavor and topping combos; it really helps narrow down the overwhelming choice of froyo flavor and fix-ins. No matter what, I have yet to be disappointed with anything I get here. This time I opted for the Plum Marzipan (seasonal dairy-free flavor) with Papa Haydn Coconut Hazelnut Crumb. The subtle flavor of the sweet plum with the creamy almond milk surprisingly work well together, I was impressed! The cake crumb added even more nutty flavor that made for such an enjoyable treat. Something I've noticed is that their flavors are never too sweet and with that they do not compromise the flavor profiles. I truly wish there is an Eb & Bean on the West side of town, preferably Beaverton area because I would be frequenting this spot so much!

Chocolate/vanilla swirl with brownie and "hot fudge".
    Jenna C.

Hot fudge is in quotes because chocolate sauce does not equal hot fudge. This tiny thing cost me $8. You don't even get to do it yourself. Everything is behind a counter. Each topping costs extra. The flavor wasn't even that great, but since they do it all, you can't customize how you like it. Also, no cookies?! I gave it 2 stars because at least it's organic and local.

    Yummy!!

First time at Eb & Bean. We ordered from the staff pick menu: I had earl gray in a cone with a yummy berry topping and my hubby had the purple cheesecake in a bowl with an assortment of toppings. I loved mine beginning to end and my hubby was enthusiastic about his but he lost interest towards the end - he thought his toppings didn't taste good with his yogurt. Anyway, it's a cute place with a good amount of seating and big windows to people watch.

The yogurt is great but it drives me up a wall how ridiculously inconsistent they are with serving size. For such overpriced yogurt, for them to give kids portions and charge large is incredibly frustrating. Today one of the people even said we had kids when he saw how ridiculously small they were but the woman who made them said nope charge them regular. We go often and the workers and rude and horrible at their job. I never leave reviews but I am over it.

Vegan and Dairy ice cream offerings. Interesting flavors including Mango Lassi, Amaretto Sour etc... Service was fast, friendly and efficient!

Eb & Bean is honestly a hidden gem in Portland -- so unassuming and small but packed with some of the most delicious frozen desserts in the Portland area. I dropped by on a random weeknight with a friend and was genuinely blown away by the deliciousness~ I was not feeling adventurous so I went with a classic -- vanilla with some hot fudge and caramel crunchy toppings. When I tell you, I INHALED it. I truly mean it -- imagine a short short person morphing into Kirby and destroying a dessert. That's essentially what happened. I'm known to be the slowest eater on the face of the planet and I finished eating this before all of my friends combined. The frozen yogurt was great and the toppings were top notch; good taste and did not taste artificial AT ALL. If you are debating best frozen dessert options in Portland, let me make it simple for you and HIGHLY recommend this as something that should rank near the top!

As someone who used to work in an ice cream shop, I have very high standards for what is served to the customer - the scoop sizes we received were noticeably inconsistent when compared to past visits & in my opinion, if a scoop doesn't at least appear to fill the cup, either smaller cups are needed or scoopers should be trained to not have their scoops be so compact. One of the scoops in the double mini we ordered was literally 1/3 the size of the other, cost more than the regular scoop but had less ice cream. The regular scoop was compressed into such a tight, dense ball, it was rolling around my cup like a marble on the drive home. We couldn't help but laugh when we looked in our cups because the portions we had just paid for were comical. For prices that are set at a premium, I want to feel like I'm getting my money's worth and don't like walking out of an establishment feeling ripped off.
