My party and I got here around 4pm and it was somewhat empty because we missed the lunch crowd and it wasn't late enough for the after work crowd. There was a bunch of empty seats but they still took some time to sit us.... i don't understand but whatever. When we first got to our seats, the waiter informed us that the bread wasn't ready yet... it was relatively empty in the restaurant, the bread should have been ready in my opinion. Our food took a while to come out, but one person ordered steak at our table so maybe that was the reason. The food was mediocre at best, but I didn't like what I ordered at all. Two stars for the portions. But no flavor at all with the jerk chicken. I could taste the nasty uncleaned chicken. Made me want to vomit. The vegetables were under cooked, honestly just thinking of it makes me unhappy. I ordered delivery through Uber eats and was delivered an incorrect order and a sloppy plate. I ordered a combination of oxtail and curry goat with steamed cabbage and mac and cheese. I only received oxtail, mac and cheese, and no cabbage but instead given rice and peas which took up half of the container. In addition, the Ox tail was mediocre and the portions were smaller than average. The absurd amount of rice provided on my plate was given simply to take up space due to the small portion of oxtail provided. I will never order from this place again. The food really good! Everything! My partner and I love to come here for chicken patties, its deliciously made. We also love the jerk chicken and rice peas ya know. Also, make sure you give our favorite drink from here a try! Which is ginger fruit punch, we go back for seconds all the time. Great food, great price! The man that worked behind the counter was very nice and explained everything as we had never been there before. I got the coconut rice, steamed veggies and curry chicken. This happened to be one of the restaurants that I came across in my search. I ordered the medium Oxtail and Rice & Peas....Delicious! The meat literally falls off the bone. Now let's talk about the Fish Cakes that I almost missed out on if it wasn't for another customer who ordered them so I said to myself why not give a try...Lord have Mercy Delicious! So delicious that they didn't make it home and it didn't make it any better that I was hungry but you know what...that's not the point! I understand that with inflation restaurants feel the need to raise their prices, but $22 for a "medium" oxtail (I got maybe 5 pieces of oxtail) that is not tender and a small portion of gravy is unacceptable. Mmmmmmm, their BBQ chicken wings were bone sucking good, and let me tell you, I'm not a bone sucking kind of girl. I prefer to eat with a knife and fork. I usually get their jerk chicken, which is excellent, but when the cook walked out with this tray of BBQ chicken wings, my eyes were drawn to to them and I had to have them. It looked like each individual wing was hand dipped in BBQ sauce. Every inch of each wing was drenched in what seemed to be their homemade BBQ sauce. It took 7 minutes to slice an already pre-sliced piece of carrot cake. I shit you not. The food was average. My girlfriend and I shared the jerk shrimp, and the best part was the cornbread. And your history lesson of the day is: cornbread is not a native Jamaican food product. Meaning the best part of the meal was a non-Jaimaican item. It's like going out for Chinese, and loving the tiramisu dessert. We also had the carrot cake, and that was actually phenomenal (minus the 7 minute slicing part). I'd return just for the carrot cake, and pass on everything else in the restaurant. Also, their credit card machine was "down." As in "I don't want to pay the credit card service fee" down. In terms of oxtail stew, this place is top notch. The meat is unbelievable tender and the sauce is just damn good. They serve it over rice & peas a heaping mound of rice and peas, which absorbs the liquid and takes it to the next level. The only thing I regret is not getting a large order! It's in a pretty good spot, about a block away from the Yankees Stadium. And in all honesty, this is far better food than you can find in the area. An open secret about Yankee Stadium is that you're allowed to bring your own food (no drinks, though), and Jamaican patties are a perfect ballgame snack--it stays hot in the pastry shell, and you can eat it with one hand. No sloppy condiments to worry about, either. Feeding Tree makes makes a respectable patty; although some of the offerings I've had along Flatbush Avenue have flakier crusts and more creative fillings, the crust at Feeding Tree held up well, keeping a savory flavor and not getting soggy or hard in the 15 minutes it took for us to get to our seats. The beef filling had a slight spice to it, with a mushiness that gave it the texture of pate. They don't even have food available and the gate is half up half down.If a restaurant is projected to open up at 9 AM. The food should be done when you get there. I ordered stewed oxtail and a beef patty through delivery. It was delivered quickly than the anticipated time frame which made me happy because I was starving and wanted something hearty. The oxtails came with rice and peas and steamed cabbage and veggies...I surprisingly found a piece of corn bread included in the bag as well. I had no idea it came with it. I ate the beef patty first and it was delicious, the patty was warm but not crispy and crumbly toasted on the outside like how some places like to heat it up. After finishing the beef patty, I opened up my oxtail plate and was pleasantly surprised again...this time it was because a fried plantain piece was included in my entree. Again, I had no idea because this is my first time ordering from here. The first bite was so good! The entire entree was nearly perfect! I usually love spicier foods but this was so delectable that I didn't miss the oxtails not being spicy. It was perfectly seasoned in my opinion, not too salty, not too overwhelming, it was just right! The rice and peas were soft but well seasoned and tasted fresh. Kicking myself that I've spent all these years going to Yankee games and have just now stumbled across this gem. Friendly staff, amazing food, and the true definition of a hole-in-the-wall. What a find! I couldn't decide between the oxtail and the curried goat, so the woman suggested I do both with a combo. Both were incredible, and everything just tasted incredible. Reasonably priced for the massive quantity of food provided. It was nice to be transported to the islands during the hot and humid summer months in the city. Just stopped by this place after reading the reviews. Was in the neighborhood working a job today. Just plain and simple wasn't good. Walked in and even thou people looked right at me that were working there, they took 3 mins to ask me if I needed help. I ordered the curried chicken with white rice and cabbage. White rice was mushy and not well cooked. Cabbage had no seasoning at all and I asked for white meat and it still had some pink inside. The best part of the meal was the free corn bread. I will never return to this restaurant and I wouldn't advise any of my colleagues to frequent this place at all. I'm sure they get a lot of business due to location when there is a Yankee Game but I would try Flavors down the block before I go there. I'm back at work now and my stomach is on fire. Food is good and it seems pretty authentic. The jerk chicken was good- I thought that it was okay but the other people in my party really, really liked it. The rice is good. Everything is pretty spicy. The dumplings are just dough balls-- there is nothing inside them. I hear that the oxtail is great so maybe I should have tried that instead. Very cheap and the food is good for the price. The place looks terrible but the looks don't reflect the taste. In spite of other complains, my food didn't take long to come out, and the meat was all very tender and tasty. Those two dishes overall were great as the food is very filling and good value, especially when compared to stadium food.
