This is one of the few places on the island that offers vegan options that are more than just a simple salad. Every time I order from Eatcetera, I get the vegan Thai Beef Sandwich which is pretty much like a Banh Mi and each time, it is delicious. In the past, it was a bit too sloppy for me because of the sriracha mayo they put on it but this time I asked for it to be put on the side and it was perfect! My partner and I needed a last minute get out dodge weekend from Austin, TX. We booked it on Thursday and were in Galveston on Friday night. We drove in kinda late so we woke at noon and needed to eat before hotting the pool and beach. We both ate gluten free so I looked up gluten free restaurants near me and this was the first one that appeared that was not sponsored. The menu looked interesting- not the standard shrimp- shrimp- shrimp so I said let's do it! Wonderful service! Tasty food. Women owed. Saw the frames magazine reader favorite 2023 behind the bar. Our server, Gwen, brought us the tastiest gluten free cracker with a red pepper dip complimentary after she put our order in. Wow were those crackers good! I inquired of the brand and she brought me out a box and I took a picture of them. They did not taste like cardboard. Yay. Our lunch was great. Jasmine blackberry ice tea, and we both ordered the special combo. Choice of bowl of home made soup (Tomato Thai) wow was that flavorful. A nice size garden salad and a 1/2 of sandwich or panini. I ordered the gluten free Angus beef and mushroom with cheese panini and Ben ordered the gluten free Cuban. There is an up charge for the gluten free bread, however, worth it. It too was a tasty bread for gluten free. My emotional support dog, Luca, was welcomed with a smile there as well. Much appreciated because he travels with me. Very clean front of the house and back of the house from what I saw. I was in the restaurant business for years and i appreciate all of there touches. Bravo!! I give this place a 6 star. Halloween night we went to the railroad museum in which Eatcetera supplies all the food there in the little restaurant. We went for a tour and hayride and stopped to eat; we had a panini and a all beef hotdog...both delicious! Museum is cool...haven't seen it since I was a kid...lots of history. Enchiladas are always cold, chips are dead, service is bad. El toro is the worst fajitas in Brazoria County. Last night we tried again as there are no other choices for Tex-Mex near Lake Jackson. The main competitor is worse than El Toro. I had a cheese enchilada dinner, my spouse had only beans and rice. We are quite disappointed with our experience. * Only a few tables were seated, but service was painfully slow. * Ordered 2 paninis and 1 salmon cream cheese bagel which took 45 minutes to make. (Being one who has worked in the service industry, sandwiches should not be taking that long.) * The server could tell we were getting impatient and dropped off a complimentary snack of some sort.. toasted white bread with tomato jam? That's our guess because she literally didnt say anything when she dropped it off. * Server was not pleasant, did not smile once and there was not great communication overall. * The cheese on our PANINIS were cold/unmelted which is an absolute SIN in the panini world. * I had also ordered a cup of coffee. Which was $3 for half a cup and a lipstick stain on the rim. When I asked for a new cup the server didn't say one word not even sorry, and got me a new one. * Coffee was not freshly brewed, it tasted like VERY bitter instant coffee. We've been here twice because it's one of few Galveston joints boasting of vegan options. I know there's a couple of others, but Eatcetera is simple and reliable (well, thus far), so I'm all about it. The sandwiches (some of which seem to be faintly Thai inspired) boast of fresh flavorful ingredients - although the bread versus filling ratio is perhaps not ideal. There's often a very scant amount of filling compared to the immense bread ratio. But there's tofu! And it's not just a bland slab of tofu! Maybe it's unfair, but I had a preconceived notion that tofu might be in extremely rare supply in Galveston. So admittedly, my rating for this place might be lower if it was located in a major city. The orders have always arrived very quickly and staff has always been attentive. The restaurant itself isn't the largest space, but there's always been seating the couple of times we've been here. Despite growing up in Friendswood, the last time I'd been to Galveston was definitely in the days before Yelp, so I was curious to see what was high on the list down here. It turned out, Eat Cetera definitely had the best reviews of any restaurant around, so it was one of our first stops after we got settled in! We enjoyed our meal, but were expecting a bit more, from the highest rated restaurant in Galveston. First off, there were only a couple other diners in the restaurant, but we would go prolonged periods of time being seeing our server. I ordered a black angus roast beef salad with thai peanut-chili dressing. I planned on ordering a panini, but I thought that the combination of roast beef and peanut dressing was just too interesting to pass up. It ended up being pretty "simple" in its taste, but I enjoyed it. We ordered the creme brulee cheesecake for dessert, because, um... it's creme brulee cheesecake! It was solid! If I find myself in Galveston again, I would definitely make a return visit to try out one of those Panini's. Super cute little spot. They brought out some little crustini type bread with a delicious bleu cheese butter spread. Delicious. The tomato soup with sour cream was super yummy and very thick. I ordered the ahi tuna salad. The ahi tuna tasted very fresh & basically melted in my mouth. At first I ordered the prickly pear iced tea and although several of my lunch companions liked it I didn't enjoy it. The regular iced tea was much better in my opinion. I also really loved the lentil soup with bread. The flavor was unique, and highly satisfying! I had a kale salad with a bit too much dressing, but healthy and delicious! We love Galveston, and one of the best parts of every visit is Eat Cetera. A small place yet a religious soup and sandwich experience. I subscribed to their face book page to show after our last visit; I can't look anymore. Food envy ensues and the urge to drive 3 hours for Turkish Lentil & Eggplant soup; Pomegranate Coulis & Greek Yogurt. They have black toilets, doesn't that scream upscale? This was our second visit and once again we were in love. Blue cheese cream and toasted bread accompanied my our lunch adult beverages. We both had EC's version of a tartine. Sliced pears, shaved ham, caramelized onions, and cambezola on crisp bread. A delicately dressed mixed greens salad accompanied possibly one of the best flavor combinations since sliced bread was invented. We still skipped out on dessert to visit the juice bar across the street; making the wife think she's eating healthy. Only two repeat visits from our previous trip to retry what we thought was exceptional dining. This visit paid off with five stars. All the chains now advertise a AYCE soup, salad, and a half sandwich lunch for seven bucks. I'd pay twenty for the same and I wouldn't hesitate once. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Nice clean small salad and sandwich place. Seems pretty new and looked like behind the bar (not alcohol) was still waiting to be finished out with some paint. Just seven tables and it's only open for lunch six days a week closed Sunday. I got the salmon Salad. It looks great and tasted even better. It was nice to get a salad that was not too big of a portion and not swimming in dressing. The service was good and the presentation was excellent. The restaurant seems to have WiFi but you need a password and I did not inquire. Overall try this place out it's a little off the beaten path but worth the walk or drive for sure read more
