I was visiting Galveston to stop and enjoy Stewart Beach. I stopped and grabbed something portable to eat and enjoy a small picnic at the beach, and found this little gem. The sandwich shop was cozy and gave such a warm feeling when you walked in. The food was delicious and filling. The staff were friendly and you can tell it is a family-ran business. I highly recommend this cute spot if you are looking for a quick bite to eat or grab to go. Thank you to Old Moon Deli for an amazing experience.

Why 4 stars? Because the sandwiches were good, despite the circumstances. --- --- --- We were staying in Jamaica Beach about 25-30 minutes away and I happily volunteered to make the trek into town to get good food for lunch, as the family I was staying with had made plans to go to a tourist trap for dinner. Bad food for both lunch and dinner while on vacation can't happen! I heavily debated which sandwich I wanted to order for myself as there were several different interesting options. I ultimately settled on a Cuban, and the rest of the family gave me their order, which I called in when I was about 20 minutes way. When I arrived, the place was pretty busy and the girl bagging up my food seemed like she'd had a bit of a chaotic day to that point. I thought to myself, "I really should check to make sure everything's right so that I don't get all the way back to the beach house before we realize there's a mistake." But it would have been really annoying to sort through our big order, so I opted to just lean on trust. My drive back took more like 35 minutes because Galveston's lights along the seawall are not timed up. At all. 3 minutes of red light, 2 minutes of driving, 3 minutes of red light, repeat, repeat, repeat. As I sat in this mind-numbing traffic, I thought, "maybe I really should have checked the order. What if they messed up and put mustard on my Cuban? THAT would suck." I like almost everything, but I hate mustard. And I specifically said "mayo instead of mustard" on my sandwich. So, naturally, when I got back to the beach house, everything else was correct, but my Cuban was absolutely slathered in mustard. Joy. I ended up giving half of it to my sister in law and took half of her reuben, which was pretty solid. I ended up braving half of my Cuban, despite the mustard being on it, and it ended up being tolerable. I realize human error just happens sometimes, but man, that was disappointing. However, despite that, it was obvious that these sandwiches are made with TLC and that the 4.5 star rating is well-deserved. PS: I grabbed a slice of coconut pie for dessert and despite it being vegan, it was fairly enjoyable. But it would have been even more enjoyable with dairy :)

They get super busy at lunch time! A good sign, of course. I got the jerk chicken sandwich. I was expecting chicken breast, but it was deli style meat. I was most looking forward to the jalapeno cheddar bun. I'm Not sure if they were out of these buns or they were very mild in flavor. I couldn't taste either the jalapeños or the cheddar. Regardless, of these minor things, my sandwich was really good. It had a lot of flavor. It was warm, the bun was nice and toasted, and the cheese was melted over everything. Yum. They are a bit pricey, maybe that's the going price for the area? At least it was a decent portion with a lot of meat. When in town, I wouldn't mind eating another one of their sandwiches.

Made a day trip down to Galveston and stopped by Old Moon Deli to grab some sandwiches for a beach picnic--definitely the right move! We got two build-your-own turkey sandwiches and both were a hit. Super fresh ingredients, great portion sizes, and packed perfectly to take on the go. The inside of the deli is a fun little spot with a unique vibe and plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the whole experience easy and enjoyable. If you're planning a picnic on the beach or just want a solid deli sandwich in Galveston, this place is a must. Already looking forward to coming back!

Stopped in for a bite between parades (Mardi Gras weekend). We had a party of 8 with us. The staff was great. Fast and friendly. The food was made fresh. I did a create your own sandwich, so I can't speak for menu items. My sister got the Monte Cristo and said it was great. Side note: They have gluten free bread and sweets!

Funky, locally owned and staffed offering sandwiches, salads and more. We've mainly stuck to the custom made sandwiches where you can pretty much build your own sandwich but this time I got the chicken salad salad. Huge portion for $12 that I made into two meals! Thanks Benji & everyone else! Plenty of seating, including upstairs and if you want a wine with your meal, it's available next door at Proletariat.

Hidden gem with amazing food. Sandwiches are huge and can be shared, I now know better for next time. Local kombucha is on tap and you can take home if you wish. Old school deli vide with great service and even better food. Definitely don't miss out on this amazing opportunity if you get the chance.

Always on the lookout for a local spot to grab a sandwich for lunch. Found this gem knowing we would be in Galveston. It's small, but they pack a lot into their panini sandwiches. I went up to the counter to order and changed my mind when I saw the special. I am a sucker for Italians, but then when I saw muffuletta, olives are my love language. Sandwich was good. The only complaint I had was the middle was cold on both halves. I opted for chips as my side, I am basic like that. I would go back and try it again for sure. It's a cute little deli.

Finally got a chance to come back to Old Moon Deli, and I was not disappointed! This sandwich was everything I dreamed of and more. I'm pretty sure the bread is cooked in house.. it's very fresh and perfectly toasted. I loved the combination of fresh ingredients on the Island Time sandwich. The staff was very sweet and kept the restaurant very clean. Absolutely amazing highly recommend and I will be back!!

Gluten free bread option. Vegan cheese and mayo option! They have a little paper where you can build your own sandwich. By the time I built my sandwich with substitutions and add ons, it ended up being $20 but the portion is GENEROUS. They really give you a lot of meat. I actually ate half and saved the other half for the next day. Great flavor!

I love this place! I was at a stop light in Galveston about two weeks ago, and I saw a sticker that reads "Old Moon Deli" on an electrical panel box. Made me curious if it was a restaurant on the island. I googled and sure enough two weeks later I went. My parents, my wife, and myself all enjoyed it. I had a Reuben sandwich. They make a very good Reuben. I wish I got pics of the food but I didn't this time. I hope this restaurant lasts a long time, the island hasn't had a nice little family owned deli restaurant like this in years. I also like the cat pics on the walls and the old school country music playing. I plan to go back.

I was telling one of the servers to please pass along my compliments to the chef and the owners. I was having a rather rough morning on our first visit. The best way I can describe the deliciousness of the food was that I went from being a little bit meh, to a strong to feeling like I was having a warm hug. I ordered the biscuits and gravy my other half ordered the berries and cream cinnamon French toast, and my little ordered the Mickey Mouse pancake with cinnamon. We came back another day and all ordered the same thing again, and it was just as amazing as the first time. The inside of the building is quite rustic. The staff was amazingly friendly. On the second day, the gentleman server did not know whether the Mickey Mouse pancake should have the cinnamon bun toppings on it (you know,...because kids might start bouncing off of the ceiling), or sprinkles and whipped cream. We requested the latter and he came over and put on a tiny show for my little. The gentleman made a fun little show of putting whipped cream on Mickey and let my little decorate his own pancake. Definitely a 10/10 experience and we will be returning when we are around these parts again.
