The food is not bad but not the best, especially for the value & quality by comparison to the hundreds of traditional pasta eateries in Rome. But we were at the airport, it looked palatable and the line workers were friendly to us.
Dining area was clean but so crowded and busy. The bussers diligently travel around to collect plates and rubbish. Our food server was incredibly sweet and helpful, especially to my mom.
Food wise I ordered the trofie al pesto, which is a small twisted pasta, traditionally eaten in Liguria with green beans & potatoes. It was delicious and tasted just like the original. It's a simple dish that can't be messed up unless you use low quality ingredients and overcook the pasta, which Eataly does not.
My sister's simple spaghetti tasted very good, very fresh. However my brother's carbonara was so overwhelmingly salty. Not sure if they had over salted the pasta then added all the cheese on top of that. Both pastas were al dente. My mom had the flatiron steak with salad & potatoes and she liked it a lot (I didn't try it.) We also ordered two supplis, one was too hard and may have been sitting out too long (cacio e pepe.) The other suppli was yummy (tomato/mozzarella.)
Overall a more than decent choice to eat at the airport if you have time to sit down. read more
