    Seafood hotpot
    George R.

Here's a short review you can use or modify for posting (Google, Yelp, etc.): Review for Eat Eat Restaurant - San Jose, CA If you're looking for an excellent Vietnamese seafood and noodle spot in San Jose, Eat Eat is a must-visit. The location is convenient, the atmosphere is casual yet inviting, and they serve up a fantastic selection of fresh ingredients. I ordered the seafood hotpot and was impressed by the presentation and variety - the platter came loaded with fresh greens, okra, mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, napa cabbage, and other goodies ready for the broth. Everything was fresh and perfect for a comforting and flavorful meal. Bonus: they have a full liquor license, so we ordered a bottle of tequila and enjoyed it with our meal -- not something you often get at a Vietnamese spot! Highly recommend this place if you love Vietnamese cuisine with a seafood focus and want a fun spot to enjoy drinks with friends.

Save your time and money DO NOT COME HERE! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Ordered crawfish Togo and it was frozen. At least have the decency to tell me on the phone you got frozen crawfish. Ordered potatoes in the menu says 2 potatoes but it was 1 potato cut in half. The sausage was thinly sliced 5mm thin. Fucking rip off piece of shit place. Will never come back. Dirty asf!

Currently under new management. This little mom & pop shop is run by the sweetest Vietnamese lady who works extremely hard, absolutely killing it in the kitchen. Every visit has been met with attentive service, genuine friendliness, and the desire to satisfy it's customers. Meals here have ranged from: -Live [fresh] Crawfish -Shrimp -Seafood Stir Fry Egg Noodles -Frozen Crawfish -Mi Nam Vang [egg noodles]. Served dry. -Ribeye Steak w/ Fries Food generally is really good. Flavors are delicious and the seafood is fresh, aside from the frozen crawfish that is currently the only thing available when it comes to these little critters. My go-to flavoring is the SJ Lovers sauce!! The pickled peppers are highly addictive and pair perfectly with the Nam Vang noodles. Ribeye steak has an Asian flare to it so if you are anticipating your typical Americanized slab of beef, this ain't it. 4 solid stars. My little family and I enjoy our visits here. ** please be advised that EE's cost for live & frozen crawfish are the SAME!! Do yourself a favor and hold off on the frozen stuff because it's not worth the $$$. **

It's Father's Day and my dad wanted Cua Rang Muoi (roasted salt & black pepper crab) so I looked up on Yelp and decided to give this place a try. I called to place an order and they said the food will be ready in 15 minutes. There was a slight language barrier so I had to speak Vietnamese to them. The level of sauces/spices is kinda confusing since the cashier didn't explain/describe it to be via phone. I asked her about the Crab special and she said it was ~$40 something. We decided to order just one to see if it was worth it. My dad really liked it! He ate the whole crab by himself lol.. good flavor. We also ordered the Hu Tieu Nam Vang (egg noodles & rice noodles) with soup ~$13.85 -- it's not bad, good portion and appreciate the large container of soup on the side and bean spouts/herbs! I just wished the rice noodle (pho) was a little softer. I was a little too al dente for my liking so I have to add more broth and reheat in the microwave a little more. Clams with garlic butter fuego sauce (mild) ~$17.85. There were a good amount of clams coated in the sauce. Smelled really garlicky and yummy! I appreciate the packaging so it wouldn't leak. Everything was $78 which is a decent pricing considering how big the crab was! Contactless payment. Staff were wearing masks. There was a shield between customers and employees for safety reasons. Fast service and nice employees. As of 6/20/21, customers were able to dine in. There is no outdoor dining. Take out available. I'll be back to try some of their other seafoods and sauces next time!

The best snail restaurant is in the town. 1st Check-in: We ordered: Oc Huong Xao Bo Toi 5/5; Nghe Hap Thai 5/5, Oc Mong Tay Xao Me 5/5, So Diep Nuong Mo Hanh 5/5, so Nhat nuong trung ca 5/5, sun ga chien gion 5/5 and Mi xao Hai san (my point:4.8/5 and my bf 5/5) 2nd Check-in: We had Seafood Hotpot 6/5 and So Diep nuong trung ca 5/5 Food: We love all the snail dishes. The taste is delicious. I am impressed with the garlic butter flavors. Service: At the first time check-in, we waited for 30' because of the full table. However, the staffs were very friendly and fast service. The 2nd time, the service was super. Ambiance: it is Vietnamese Restaurant - Family styles/quan nhau, so it can be loud but it is ok with my bf and me. Overall: 5/5

New business. Many logistics have not been worked out. No sign in sheet in front. Did not use PoS system. We put in order already but 2 people came by to ask whether we have ordered yet. One of the people who asked was the one who took down our order originally. What duh. Needless to say high inefficiency and looooong wait time. It turned out the person who took our order didn't turn it in the kitchen. Waited for about 30 mins to get seated. Wait another 40 mins or so to get our beers then food later. Did not like crawfish/Cajun sauce since it seems to have the consistency of tapioca starch. The Manila clams were over cooked/shrank. The oc dish did have a flavorful smoke smell but it was over cooked and chewy. Liked the sauce dish. Surprised to see this place is crowded on a Tuesday night. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes. But definitely slow service.

Called on December 4th, 2020 and they said the crawfish was live. I've never had live crawfish in December so I figured why not try! Extremely disappointing. No way in hell that was live crawfish, and I can't believe I paid $17 a pound. During crawfish season, my family and I buy live crawfish from the market and cook it at home at least every other week, so we have a good gauge on what's fresh. And we all agreed the crawfish from here were not fresh at all, most were super mushy and gray. Have you ever had the 3 lb frozen crawfish bag at Walmart? I hate to say it but that quality is better than what we had here. Got the garlic butter fuego sauce in mild and hot. I really like the flavor! It's different than Kickin' Crab, lighter and a little sweeter. Spicy was hot, had my nose dripping a bit lol but not unbearable. Overall, I think the sauce is good but I would not come back for crawfish.

We ordered some seafood boil from here through Postmates. We got all the seafood with the Garlic Butter Fuego Sauce. The sauce is pretty sweet. We prefer savory sauce over this. All the seafood were big and fresh. The clams and shrimps were quite big. Some crawfish were big but some were small. Dungeness crab was good too. The medium spice is very spicy. I almost died when I put a little chunk in my mouth. Mild was perfect spice for me. We ordered 1 lb crawfish in hot spice and it came with just the sauce. 2 lbs of crawfish were in medium and another 2 lbs in mild. It was weird. If you like sweet sauce and fresh seafood, then this is for you...unfortunately it's the sweet sauce that wasn't for us.

I call & ask if there crawfish is fresh & they tell you yes than 6lbs later & most of them were so bad & taste so gummy. You can tell it was mixed with some frozen old ass stuff. We pretty much toss half away cause it was just so bad. Never again.

This was my first time having crawfish, and it was such a fun experience! We had the garlic fries, crawfish, and shrimp. The seafood was medium spicy and we had the garlic fuego sauce and I can't remember which other sauce. But they were both very tasty and super flavorful. Since it was my first time having crawfish, I struggled a little bit to get the meat out, but by the end I got the hang of it :) The interior is also very clean and the service was great. The owner, Chris, was very friendly and hospitable. I highly recommend coming here for a fun outing! Just be prepared get your hands dirty and to reek of garlic by the time you leave

This is a small but great seafood restaurant. The overall atmosphere is nice with a great and cheerful wait staff. The menu has a lot to offer in terms of seafood. We tried the Garlic Butter Snails and they were great. People might be skeptical of trying them but I got to say so was I at first. The Sea snails are tossed in a Sweet and Spicy Garlic soy sauce. Truly great. We got the Queen's Combo you can choose from Crawfish, Shrimp, Mussels, and Clams for the items and then choose one of their house sauces. We picked the Viet Cajun and we got all four proteins. The Queen's Combo was truly great. The food was cooked perfectly and also seasoned perfectly. I got say that this place is worth coming to. I hope you guys enjoy this place as much as we did.

Regardless of the matter and situation, I'm happy to see that they're doing well. I came in super late last night being it the second to last Friday for Lent and was craving seafood. This brought me back to life. It was so good and fragrant, which definitely brought me back to my childhood. I decided to also get a few more dishes since I'm acclimating to the Vietnamese culture. But using that same approach here, we were still very hungry afterward. Not only are the portions extremely small, but the flavors are inconsistent. The xào me was overly salty, while the rang muối ớt was surprisingly bland. On top of that, the presentation was top notched....... the portions are much smaller than what's shown in the photos, vegetables were stale, and there wasn't even any garlic included, despite it being clearly shown on the menu. The gỏi was okay. Will not return.

Ordered fish tacos with salsa on the side but actual order came with fish on top of the salsa and slaw. Disappointed but didn't comment about that since I didn't notice until I'd already taken a bite of each taco. Wished it had been served on the side as it made the tacos soggy and a little spicier than I would have liked. Fried Baja fish tacos had batter similar to fish and chips batter. Wished it was a lighter batter to make it easier on the stomach. It was hard to eat the corn tortilla on both tacos because the salsa was on the bottom of the fish versus being on top of the fish. Accompanying salad was dressed just right with the vinaigrette I requested. Black beans were nicely seasoned. Ordered a nojito which was not very flavorful. Thought it would be mintier, citrusy mocktail but honestly it just tasted like ginger ale with two quartered limes and sprigs of mint. Not worth the $6 I paid for it. Very disappointing.. Would have been better off saving that money spent to buy a pint of ice cream from a local retailer. One reason is that I don't live in the San Jose area anymore, and another is that there are now so many seafood boil spots around since Boiling Crab really started the trend. One positive right away: there was no long wait. We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately, which was great. I remember the days when we'd have to put our name down and walk around Target while waiting for our table. I do wish they offered combo bags like a lot of other seafood boil places do now, since that's always a hit. Instead, we ordered 3 pounds of shrimp with whole-sha-bang sauce in mild. The shrimp themselves were great--nice and big, not the tiny peanut-sized ones you sometimes get. The flavor was also really good. However, the "mild" tasted much spicier than I remembered. From past visits, mild always had a small kick but was still pretty manageable. This honestly tasted closer to medium. My boyfriend politely asked one of the servers if he could get a small side of garlic butter because the sauce was spicier than expected. She immediately responded that it would be $5 for extra sauce, and the way it was said came off pretty rude. We understand that there's an option to make the bag "extra saucy" for an additional charge, but he wasn't asking for extra sauce for the whole bag--just a small side to balance out the spice. Even a simple response like "I'm sorry it came out spicier than expected" would have gone a long way. I've worked in customer service for over 15 years, and I've always believed in "kill them with kindness." We weren't rude at all--we just mentioned that it seemed spicier than mild. In the end, we decided to just skip the extra sauce. Again, the flavor was still good, but to me this definitely tasted more like medium. When we got our check, a different server asked how everything was. My boyfriend mentioned that the sauce was spicier than mild, and she responded with, "Oh no, I'm sorry it wasn't exactly what you wanted." We told her it wasn't her fault since we had already mentioned it earlier, and she just gave us a sympathetic look. Overall, the food itself was good, and I'd probably give it a 4 for taste, but the lack of customer service knocked the experience down for me. I understand it was later in the evening and they still had a full lobby, but a little kindness and attentiveness would have made a big difference.

They took away our plates and cleaned out the table as soon as we left. #FishGrill: ~ LOBSTER NACHOS - 3.5/5 A heaping amount of food. I thought it could do with a bit more Lobster meat. There were tons of chips. Corn chips, wild-caught lobster, avocado, roasted corn, green onion, lomi tomato, diced chilies, cream sauce, green goddess & dynamite sauce. ~ FRIED CATFISH w/ Fire Roasted Street Corn - 4.5/5 Reminds me of NOLA. An excellent fried Catfish; crispy, mild and flaky without being overly oily and heavy. I thought the catfish could be a bit meatier portion wise. Grilled available as well. The Roasted Street Corn was perfect as well. ~ French Fries - 4/5 Brilliant Fries. Simple, crispy, slightly salty, just about perfect. Solid spot. I was impressed with the Fish and Chips as well, lightly battered, tender and crispy and it didn't make me feel bloated or lethargic after I ate. I'll definitely be back to check out the rest of the menu...

The family loves CFG! We tried their other location on evergreen, but the Almaden location is my…read morefavorite! It's spacious and has a lot more parking spots available. You order on a self service kiosk and wait for your food and name to be called at the counter. You can either pick it up yourself or bring it to the table. The staff are so attentive and friendly. I ordered their dynamite shrimp bowl and it was packed with flavor. Lots of shrimp for protein and a large bed of rice for carbs. Delicious, filling, and I would definitely order here again.
