This place has such good baked goods. Croissants and more traditional French pastry is great. Brewster buns were sooo good. Their twist on cinnamon bun wasn't my favorite. Coffee is bad. Service was awful when we were there. We can all laugh about French arrogance in service but the young lady who helped us was particularly bad. Pretended not to hear anything and acted as if I were borrowing money from her instead of giving them business. I hope the service improves. The place is super cute. Gorgeous bakery right next to the Cape Cod Rail Trial. The outside has beautiful seating in bright blue/ teal chairs. Plenty of parking available. Staff was efficient and friendly. When you get to be 62 years old, and you say that "something is the best I've ever had", well, that means something. I went here twice last week during a September holiday on Cape Cod, even though my BandB offered breakfast. If I had known how good the pastries were, I wouldn't have even bothered eating a single breakfast at my BandB. I won't bother going into detail on the pastries I got, but suffice it to say that they probably are, indeed, the best I've ever had. I do want to note that their coffee is very good, and I like very few coffees. Nothing fancy-shmancy - just good, rich coffee. Amazing brownies! I had them shipped and they arrived in perfect condition! We ate one, and froze the rest (they freeze really well.) A delicious treat during this crazy time when we can't get to the Cape. I've also visited the shop a couple of times. Everything looks fabulous, and the items I've purchased tasted great. Heavy, big, very sweet baked goods - reminds one of hippie bakeries in the '70s. Cookies and croissants dense and large - each a meal in itself. Missed the memo about making lighter treats w complex flavors and less butter and sugar. The over-sized coconut macaroon, like the supposedly one-serving flourless chocolate cake, is enough for two adults (and not that good). For a real croissant go to Pain D'Avignon in Hyannis or Maison Villatte in Falmouth. For a delicious cookie try Cafe Chew in Sandwich or Pies A La Mode in Falmouth. So much to rave about from the decor, personnel, and of course, the pastries. Have tried the Brewster Buns, Kentucky Bourbon Sticky Buns, the bread pudding, the ham and cheese, and turkey and cheese croissants. All are stellar. The hardest thing is driving home from Brewster to Orleans with a box of a variety of pastries sitting on the front seat - I admit to sampling each one by pulling into the driveway. I have been to Eat Cake several times and have yet to be disappointed. The staff is friendly and quite speedy. I was worried when I arrived last weekend and there was a line, but was pleasantly surprised that it went very quickly. In fact- these pastries are worth the short wait! I ordered the Nest Egg for the first time and when I asked if they could warm it up, they assured me that although they cannot heat up items currently due to their "take out only" status, all of their items are baked daily so they are soft and fresh. We finally gave in and tried this today. Oh my good was. Quiches are creamy and delicious. The Brewster Bun is like the best fried dough you have ever eaten, I loved the gooey center. What didn't we have? 4 of us stopped before heading to Ptown for the day. We stopped for breakfast just as the shop opened. Pistachio croissant, ham and cheese croissant, brewster bun, pain au chocolat, nutella croissant and a quiche. Would have loved the quiche heated, but it was still amazing. First of all what's not to love about a bakery that subscribes to my way of thinking I mean we should all eat cake 4 breakfast and if the staff is willing to accommodate me who am I to turn them down! I usually start out with the NY croissant (5 STARS) and then move on to any number of goodies that they have, current favs are the chocolate pistachio croissant, Boston cruffin and the éclair bomb. Ok who am i fooling - I love 'em all. Also a shoutout to the staff who always make my day, they are fast, efficient and very friendly. I visited this place by recommendation yesterday. It took me 30 min to get there from where I live on the Cape and I had the worst experience I have ever had during my 27 years living in America. The owner was so rude to me and my daughter that we both were left pretty much in shock! My daughter and my 11-year old granddaughter headed to the store (with masks on of course) to buy some baked sweets for themselves. I was waiting for them in the car. An employee stationed outside did not allow the little girl to come inside citing that only one person from a party can come inside (I see that others speak of laminated menus but they were not offered to them). This was a strange rule considering that we have never been to this bakery and a child needs to see what's offered before they can order. After buying some stuff my daughter saw that the other customer had her (young) child inside with her and asked an employee to clarify the rules - particularly, why her daughter was not allowed in. The owner quickly appeared and said neither apologetically nor politely that these are their rules. When asked to explain again she just blurted out: "Get your stuff and leave my store immediately!" My daughter was shaking and in tears when she emerged out of the store and I decided to go in and find out what's happened inside. I asked the owner why she was so rude to my daughter. And without any explanation she said to me the same: "Leave my place!" I am 73 years old and that young woman did not have any respect to me! Why? Who gave her the right to be so rude to her customers?! There are many ways businesses are trying to stay afloat in the times of Covid and being rude to their customers is definitely not one of them! We have supported many local Cape eateries this summer - eating out on a terrace, buying from the shop window outside and self-seating on picnic tables etc. There are many ways to continue serving in a health conscious way! I don't think such behavior from the owner is appropriate (what kind of lesson is she giving to her younger employees!) and I would never recommend this place to neither my friends nor relatives. UPDATE: The part about my daughter harassing a teenage attendant outside is an outrageous lie that puts owner's entire response below to question- as my daughter proceeded straight to the car, which I witnessed!- in tears-without talking to an attendant. We then sat in the car together processing and after I went in (while my daughter and granddaughter remained in the car)- we left. I've been going to this bakery since it opened its doors. Every time I walk in, I am greeted with a smile and a friendly hello from either the owner or her lovely staff behind the counter. This weekend was the first opportunity I had to custom order a large quantity of goodies for a party. The owner, Danielle, worked with me in a short amount of time to put together a beautiful spread of different tarts for my family's baby shower. She was even willing to consider doing some of her specialties that she's done in months past. Presentation is always on point and the berry tarts that she made looked flawless even after travel and being set out for the guests.
