I have been to this Asian market a few times and am actually surprised that the price of produce is really cheap. But you do have to be aware that the fruits may not last as long as maybe going to another market like Smart & Final or Stater Bro's. Also there have been times when I have seen produce starting to mold/ have spots. During cherry season, I was surprised to find that this market sold rainier cherries (I actually love these more than the red ones) for $1.98 per pound where as other places are selling them for anywhere from $5 to $7 per pound. It is very busy when some of their produce like that is very cheap (because you know you just aren't the only one who thinks that is a good deal). The rest of the market itself has a similar layout as what you would expect at other Asian markets. And on our past visits, the market has been clean and did not have that familiar odor that may be associated with Asian markets. One thing I thought was interesting though about this market is that you need to have a minimum purchase of at least $5 for credit card transactions. I have only seen a small number of markets that have a minimum for credit card transactions and just wanted to bring that up for those that don't normally carry cash but wish to grocery shop here.

For rest of the items, she entered a membership code for us that gave us the sale prices on the items we were buying. The checkout process was quick and easy. Overall a really good grocery store evident by their super busy parking lot.

Based on that response, my dad went back to the store by himself. Unfortunately, we had already thrown away the original paper receipt, but we still had a clear photo of the receipt, as well as photos of the moldy bread. I understand that requiring the original paper receipt may be their policy. However, the way the situation was handled was very disappointing. My dad drove about 50 miles round trip after seeing the store's response on Google and expecting that the issue could be resolved. Once he arrived, customer service would not issue the refund without the original paper receipt. My dad did not want to argue, so in the end he simply took another loaf of bread instead. My family has been shopping at Hawaii Supermarket for about 20 years, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. This was never really about the price of one loaf of bread. It was about the customer service and how the situation was handled after selling a moldy food product and publicly asking us to come back to the store for a refund.

There weren't very many customers at the time. I was a little concerned for them. So many competitions nowadays. When I got to the seafood area, I saw the head shrimps were on sale for $4.99 per lb. That's a steal! They were very big shrimps. I got 3 lbs. I later walked through the freezer section. I saw monthong durian on sale for $14.99 per 14 oz box. I couldn't resist. I got 1 box. Gentleman staff at the seafood section was very helpful. Lady staff at the register was just okay and not the most smiliest. I came for Chinese red dates and black sesame candy, but ended up leaving with my top #1 favorite seafood and top #1 favorite fruit... shrimps and durian. It was indeed a win win visit!
