HomeGoods this time was No Good…read more I really wanted to like the HomeGoods in Downey because they have an amazing assortment of home décor, seasonal items, kitchen, bath, and home products, all at reasonable prices. There are definitely plenty of great finds throughout the store. Unfortunately, the customer service and overall shopping experience left a lot to be desired. Employees rarely acknowledged or greeted customers, and several seemed bothered when customers were shopping in the areas where they were working. I also noticed several damaged items sitting on the sales floor, which made the store feel less maintained than it should be. The checkout experience was especially disappointing. There were approximately 15 customers waiting in line with only one cashier working. Meanwhile, two managers were standing near the front having what appeared to be a personal conversation. They spent about five minutes talking and then walked away without offering any assistance to the cashier or the customers waiting in line. The merchandise selection is definitely a strength, but good products can only go so far. Better customer service, more attention to the sales floor, and stronger leadership presence at checkout would make a big difference in the overall experience.
