DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE!! We ignored all of the bad reviews because we know usually a place has a mix of reviews and the salesmen at this lot are low pressure which is nice. My son bought a car there and Wayne told him "If anything goes wrong, just let us know and we'll see what we can do". My son had the car 2 weeks, drove it from Oregon to Colorado and it stopped in the middle of nowhere, you can imagine this was very stressful for all of us. He spend a lot of money getting it towed to a service station where the mechanic said the engine was shot and was going to be $8000 to get a new one and fix. This is much more than my son paid for the car. By the way, my son worked hard to save money WHILE he was going to college and spend most of it on this car. My son called the owner of East Side Sales, only to be yelled, interrupted an treated very disrespectfully. My sister, then proceeded to call the owner only to experience the same thing....she couldn't even get a word in. We all know why people do this because they are guilty and become defensive! He has taken it to another mechanic and his findings were the same - the engine is shot and the problem has been going on for some time. Eastside Auto is worthy of criminal investigation by the state, and I am currently pursuing a civil case for fraud. In short, do not trust this dealer. Better yet, do not come within a five mile radius of their lot to avoid getting hit by someone test driving one of their dangerous cars. Wayne Moore sold me a 2008 Hyundai Sonata, which broke down three days later. Wayne Moore and his manager, Ray, promised me that if I discovered any significant problems within the first few weeks, they would help me out. But after three days of driving, the engine and oil filter lights came on. When I pulled over to the side of the road, the engine seized, the brakes locked, and I rolled into a ditch, and I was left stranded by a highway in the middle of the night. After getting it towed to a car technician the next day, I was told the only reason the car had made it off the lot was because Eastside had filled it with heavier oil. The engine was destroyed, as there were chunks of metal ridden throughout the engine and the oil. The cost to replace the engine would be more than what I paid for the whole car. The next day, I took the car to a second technician, who confirmed the diagnosis. For some reason, I thought Eastside was a family owned name in cars I could trust. When I called Eastside, Wayne Moore refused to speak to me about the car, saying I could only talk to his manager Ray. I told Ray I had pictures to prove the engine was totaled and that the error code timestamps proved that the problem existed before I bought the car. When Ray said he didn't trust my technicians, I offered to pay the costs to take it to a third car technician of his choice. When he said he'd only take it back if he could look it over himself, I offered to pay the costs to tow it back to his lot. When he still refused, I told him I was between homes and couldn't afford to buy another car. He laughed at me. It was quite obvious that Ray and Wayne Moore knew that they'd sold me a lemon and didn't care at all about their reputations or their consciences. When I started the process of selling the car to a scrap yard for parts, I ran into another issue, which was that Eastside never took the car's title into its own name. This is a legal loophole in the state of Oregon that allows fraudsters to avoid taking responsibility for a car. So I had to spend a day at the DMV making the case that I was the victim of a fraudulent business and wasn't trying to pass on a stolen car, which I was eventually able to do after paying a large fee. If you look at some of the other reviews, you'll read about many other similar experiences. Many of the positive reviews are fake. The Cars.com 5-star review from Sep 15, 2016 was written by "Eastside Auto Sales." And another review on Carfax was written by Wayne. In these cases, they were too stupid or didn't care to come up with fake names for their fake reviews. This place has been in business since 1974 because their business model is taking in lemon cars for cheap from other lots and passing them on to their customers. Getting scared - bought a car in February, never received the title. Called the owner multiple times, he insisted that Covid prevented the processing of new titles. The owner never asked what car, the VIN, and this has happened three times, and now it is AUGUST! Oregon DMV mailed me a letter warning me that my dealer never submitted the title documents. We tried to have a discussion and the owner was extremely emotional and irrational and didn't want to consider ANY options. He would not consider taking the car back. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER!! At first, they seemed nice and didn't pressure us to buy a car. But DON'T GET FOOLED. We bought a car two weeks ago, and the engine completely broke down after two days of driving across the country (even after we had taken it to Honest-1 Auto Care for a pre-purchase inspection; wouldn't recommend going there either). Replacing the engine would cost more than what we paid for the car. And talking to anybody at Eastside Auto Sales has been impossible. They are not helpful or understanding of our situation. We got different opinions about the car, and they all said that they probably knew about the problem before selling the car to us. When we talked to them over the phone, they basically laughed at us. I was looking for a very specific car in a very specific price range when I found it on Eastside Automotive's lot. I took a test drive with James, who was friendly but not pushy and has been working for this business for nearly 5 years. I also worked with Darryl who coordinated the pre-sale inspection with me and was prompt in returning my phone calls. The lot (lot #1) was busy when I got there and James was having to run between several different customers, but he accommodated my super limited time frame for taking the car for a test drive despite having many folks vying for his attention. This is not a super fancy, frilly lot, but they have a good selection of reasonably priced used cars. As in any major purchase the buyer has to do more than simply print the carfax. I also did my due diligence and pulled the car fax, ran full vehicle history reports through another car history service and spent the $130 to hire a mechanic to do a bumper to bumper pre sale inspection on the vehicle. Once that inspection was done, Daryl coordinated getting the minor, but necessary repairs found during the inspection completed to a standard at which I was willing to pay the full asking price on the car. The dealership was very reasonable and fast in their negotiation on the car and we were quickly able to come to an agreement on a purchase price and terms. They faxed the required paperwork to my bank immediately. Not even the fancy dealers are going to know what is going on with every car and every trade in on their lot. My experience with Eastside Auto Sales is that they have a good selection and if you are a friendly, reasonable buyer who does his/her homework you will walk away satisfied in your dealings with them. I came in on 7/23/16 looking to trade in my '03 Kia Spectra GS for a '97 Jetta GL that was listed in their inventory at $1,495, and was greeted by Beau. I told him I was interested in the aforementioned car, and asked if there were any major problems with the car. His response was a vague "Well, it's a cheap older car, so it's going to have some issues". When I pressed the issue again, I was told "Well, the clutch is a little sloppy; those old Jettas are just kind of like that, so be careful of whether you're in first or reverse". At this point, my heart was sinking. The photos posted showed a relatively clean and upkept body, and a clean interior and dash. As soon as we got to the car, I did a quick inspection of the body - a badge had been pulled off the back and hastily painted over, the paint was cracking away at all the door handles. The passenger side door's lock was completely missing, and the rear passenger side door's handle stuck badly. As for the interior, the combination arms (wipers, headlights, emergency flashers, etc.) were in terrible shape and the emergency flasher was missing entirely. The OBD port was exposed, and the rear cup holders and seat belt locks were also partially destroyed as well. To top it off, the car reeked of cigarettes, the side view mirror adjusters were also broken, and adjusting either of the front seats was a feat of strength. At this point, I didn't feel comfortable taking the car out on the road, and simply walked back to the office and said "This isn't the one for me". I maybe would've taken it for the trade-in value of my Kia, but definitely not $1,495 for the work I'd need to do on a car that obviously had already been run into the ground by its previous owner(s). read more

I went into Eastside looking for a reliable car for my wife, at a reasonable price. I had a great experience. I was greeted by James, a salesman, within moments of walking on the lot. He showed me a number of vehicles within my price range, and patiently let my wife test drive every car she was interested in. We explored things outside of our price range as well. He even walked us over to their other lot to find more choices. At no point did I feel pressured or hurried. James was upfront about the history of the vehicles we looked at, making sure we knew all potential problems, and even steering us away from vehicles that may not be reliable enough. This was a surprising level of service. Eventually we found the car we wanted, but it was a bit out of our price range. He called the lot owner and was able to bring it down to a price we could afford without any trouble. Finally, the lot handled all the plate/title paperwork for us, and even called our insurance company for us to transfer coverage from our old vehicle. The final purchase was as simple as handing over my credit card and signing a few papers. So easy! read more

I bought a 2003 Dodge Durango last week for $3495 with 167,000 miles 4.7L V-8 with factory tow package, which included exterior heated defrosting mirrors. Looks nice, shows nice, drives nice. James Boyer was the sales guy. I felt no pressure. He easily let me take a test drive alone, and told me of an 8 mile-ish test route including freeway. I purchased it for the asking price of $3495 which was a fair price in the middle of Kelly blue book retail high and low prices, given the add-ons it had. I went in with no financing, they have their own sources; I'm rebuilding my credit a bit from some unemployment; I plan to stay with the loan given to me, $125 for 36 months, and pay it off in about 15 months. Just purchased a truck with my fiancé from Eastside yesterday and decided to leave a review based on my experience. From the moment we walked onto the lot we had someone assisting us within minutes which was nice, considering some of the previous lots we had gone to look at not one sales person came out to greet us... We had initially been interested in a different truck that we were allowed to take for a test drive that we liked but weren't crazy about so when we got back to the lot the same guy drove us over to her sister lot to show us another truck we might like that was a couple thousand dollars cheaper but the same idea, well we didn't like that truck at all BUT we happened to see another truck on that lot that caught my fiancée's eye right away that we asked to test drive, I loved it right away and had a good feeling about it, as well as he. I HIGHLY recommend that anyone buying from a used car lot ask to take the car in for a pre-purchase inspection before going through with a purchase, cover all your bases! It's in your best interest, and if the attendant or sales person doesn't let you, well that's a red flag right there. He let us take truck for a couple hours for pre inspections, we went to two separate places to be extra sure and for the most part besides some minor maintenance work, all was good and we got the green light. We offered what we had cash but salesman didn't seem interested in negotiating which was definitely a bummer, but we really liked the truck so we financed the remaining balance which was for the most part a painless experience. I felt a little rushed when signing paperwork but asked for a copy of everything to review on my own time. Buyer Beware: Be sure to get any car from here checked by an independent mechanic. I came to look at a Saab 9-2x they had for sale. I was told this car was in great condition but took it to a mechanic anyway. The head gaskets were leaking, the timing belt has not been changed (should have been done at 105k and the car has 125k miles), it needs new tires and the air conditioning doesn't work. When I came back and pointed out these issues I was told "Guess it's not the car for you". I was treated like I didn't know what I was talking about and there was no offer to bring down the price. I was told "You need to do your homework. Head gaskets are a problem on all Subarus". Well, yes it is a common issue. However it needs to be fixed if they want to justify pricing this $1500-2000 over Blue Book and NADA. The guy just kept repeating that "The car looks good." Yes, the outer appearance hid the mess on the inside. When I told them that I thought they were engaging in sketchy business practices I was told "Ma'am, this is America. It was founded on capitalist ideals. We're not forcing you to buy this car and if someone is willing to buy it without checking up on it first, that's just business." Eastside Auto Sales: I came in with my dad back in late November looking for a car after my old one went to hell and ran into Darrel "DC" who wouldn't even show me any vehicles until he ran my credit score (I should have known then). My credit isn't amazing but good enough DC decides he can show me some cars in my price range - or I'm sorry, he can show my dad some cars in my price range since he hardly acknowledged me the whole day I was there, even though I was the one financing the vehicle. So I find a car I love, to which he assures me runs perfect and was thoroughly checked. A month later I drive down to Southern Oregon to visit my dad for Christmas and lose my brakes on the way down. There was a hole in the brake line that my dad luckily was able to fix - annoying, but not the end of the world and luckily nothing more serious happened... Fast forward to a week ago and my car starts leaking this chocolate milk looking type fluid out of the radiator. I take it in to get checked and the fluid has gone into my transmission... So now I have to replace the radiator AND the transmission in a car I have made FOUR payments on for $2500+. Do yourself a favor and don't ever buy from this lot... Or at least not from DC. Great sales experience and fantastic inventory. I came in to the dealer to see a vehicle I saw on Craigslist. Vehicle was easy to find and unlocked. After looking over the vehicle I walked into the office and was greeted immediately. The woman in the office quickly called a sales rep and he was there in less than a minute. I asked to drive the car and James wasted no time getting the keys and pulling it out for me. I drove and upon returning asked for a carfax and requested to drive the car to my mechanic to have it checked out. Without hesitation James gave me the OK. When I returned and said I wanted to make an offer he took me into his office, offered me a beverage and within 10 minutes we were prepping docs. I negotiated what I believe to be a great price and had final paperwork and keys in hand in less than 20 minutes. He reviewed paperwork and dmv docs accuately and efficiently. Was pleased to see the sticker prices were not overly inflated and kbb printout and carfax was offered without hesitation. They obviosly have good relations with new local dealers and their buying power is strong enough to ensure customers can buy right ans well as make the profits needed to maintain good personnel, large inventory levels and 40 years of business in the portland area. (The only reason gave this review 2 stars instead of 1) When I went back to potentially make an offer on the car the salesman who helped me was too pushy, I told him how much I wanted to pay for the car he went and "called" someone to see if they would take the offer. He came back and wanted a bit more than my offer. I told him I would think about it but there was another car I had been looking at he became very rude and hostile. He made comments that I was going to get him in trouble and that it was a waste of time. Have owned the auto since Nov 18, has not been in operation for 3 weeks.
