I have been a relatively active individual throughout different parts of my life, participating in…read morehigh school sports, exercising at my college's gym, getting into a brief stint of powerlifting in grad school, and then in my profession I have to maintain a certain fitness level. However, I was struggling after my first pregnancy which had a less than ideal birth process which left my body and mental health in a very poor state. I had a lot of difficulty getting back into a consistent fitness routine to get back my strength and endurance and healthy mindset. I began my post-partum journey with long walks with my baby and very light body weight resistance training with minimal equipment at home but I was not consistent with my program. I was yo-yo dieting all over the place and cranky from caloric restrictions. I thought back to when I was the most successful and consistent-- high school sports. I really thrived when I had no choice-- exercise 5-6 days a week, under unrelenting orders of our coaches, a variety of cardiovascular and resistance training exercises, and a relatively guilt-free diet as I was constantly working out. Part of me cringed thinking about it as I definitely had a love-hate relationship with my high school coaches. I decided to give in and try a structured program and found Fit Body which also had an added bonus of being close to my home. Similar to high school sports, the classes are available 6 days a week and with a variety of exercises that address all parts of the body and also address cardiovascular endurance and strength training. I started off very lightly going only 2-3 times a week and then over time have made it a priority to go 6 days a week and sometimes doing two-a-days, somewhat forcing myself to those "Hell Weeks" we had in high school. I've been going relatively consistently since the start of this year and cannot say enough good things about this place. There enough classes around the clock starting at 5AM and going all the way up to 7:45PM that it can be convenient and workouts are about 40-45 mins which include warm-up, 10-12 exercises performed 3 sets x30-45 sec, 2-3 min after burner drill, and 2-3 min stretch cool down. The coaches are great and make an effort to push you harder and keep you going even when you feel gassed out. There are also periodic 6-week long challenges tracked by inBody measurements for body fat and lean mass measurements (yes, I know it's not perfect but we compare apples to apples). They also are knowledgeable about diet and supplements and can provide some general advice on what macros to focus on. Since the beginning of the year when I started, I've lost 10lbs and felt much stronger and have much more endurance to take care of my baby. I can also run my mile loop around my hilly neighborhood without feeling winded or stopping! I'm learning to focus less on losing weight as a number as now I'm more interested in building lean mass and having a good balance of fitness and getting to eat the foods that I enjoy consistently rather than trying to force myself to be in a very restrictive diet. I feel much better mentally as well and have always felt the benefits of physical exercise releasing the good feeling endorphins. I have to say thank you very much to the coaches that have been so helpful-- Marissa, Justin, Michelle, Carolina, Victoria, and Sebastien!!

Somehow the coaches that actually get people motivated , they find a way to driveway. instead they bring in people that have no idea what they are doing and can't properly demonstrate workouts . If a coach is asking the members what a certain workout is , or we have to correct the coach then the safety of the members is obviously not a priority .Class volume has dramatically decreased since the last coach was wrongly terminated " for lack of energy" and ironically the new energy they brought in is driving people away . I would stop attending but it's the only camp open at 3 pm I'm not the only member that feels this way , just the one to get fed up and make a comment .

The classes are HIIT styled classes, with AM & PM classes. Each class is either upper body, lower body, or full body. They are always different & the trainers provide guidance on how to complete each station. Special shout out to George who makes sure to push you & makes sure to correct your form. The workouts are challenging but you can definitely make modifications if you can't do something. Parking: there's a public parking lot at the back that always has room for cars. Classes: 5AM, 6AM, 8AM, 9AM, 4PM,5PM,6PM,7PM,8PM weekend hours are much limited which is no issues for me since I prefer to workout earlier in the week. The front desk staff is always extremely nice! He gets upset if your not doing the work out correctly. He rolls his eyes to the members and starts talking underneath his breath, instead of encouraging and explaining how to do the workout.. but instead he likes to humiliate you in front of the class. This is not professional. He is only friendly to the girls he finds attractive, or that are a lot thinner. I don't need to pay for the camp to be treated like crap and to see other members being getting treated the some way!

They have both morning & evening classes. When you're there, the coach will show you what to do in each station and monitor the class to make sure you're doing the stations/workouts correctly. Staffs here are extremely friendly & knowledgeable. I really like the vibes inside the gym and joined the membership after my kick-start trial is over. I like that. There was only one coach, and I had no partner. The signs were abbreviated and gave no hint as to what each station was about. And the coach doesn't care at all about who you are or what state your body is in. When you tell them you can't do a certain exercise properly due to chronic conditions, and you need time they make you feel like crap. Sometimes I waited at a station the whole time because I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do there, but by the time a coach is able to help, time's already up. Also, the people attending are rude. They were in the hallway talking smack about how they hate new people. Any motivated to go was drained and to didn't go back to finish my trial. Getting motivated to work out is hard enough without the toxic environment and lack of support.

But it was definitely worth it especially with the support and encouragement of the amazing trainers and staff here at The Camp. Some may think this place is just a fad or some marketing strategy, but it really does work if you put your mind to it and do the real work which includes partaking in the very energizing high intensity interval training sessions and following the strict diet plan. The HIIT sessions were my favorite part and I started to really crave/look forward to them since I felt like I was getting healthier after each workout. To reiterate, the trainers are AMAZING! They have built a wonderful community of trainees and look forward to continuing my journey with The Camp!

From the moment you sign up to their free intro class you feel so welcomed. Everyone talks to everyone. I don't think I have yet to meet a rude person. I purchased the unlimited package so I had access to the open gym which is open 24 7! The two cons I have is that there aren't that many morning classes. They have 5:30 am and 8:30 am, but they do have a ton of evening classes. I highly recommend taking classes with Christian O., especially if you're new. He does a great job at explaining the workouts beforehand and going around the class to make sure you're doing the exercises right. He is so patient. The other con is the parking. It can be a bit tight, but I just go early so I don't have to stress about it. The classes are worth it! If you've been wanting to try CrossFit but feel intimidated give Backyard CrossFit a try!

It can get busy, which is a plus, its super motivating to have the room full of people to sweat along with, and there are usually multiple coaches giving attention when needed, and did i mention the facility is huge? a lot bigger than other f45s i've checked out leaving a lot of room for activities, its a great space. Parking is readily available in two covered lots in the building itself, or across the street by the dim sum place. I'm not in SGV too often during weekdays but i try to hit this place whenever I am in the area, if you live nearby it'd be a no brainer to attend here if looking for group fitness and to get in shape.
